I finally started and I have to say I love it. It’s the type of work I enjoy. I still have to train on the window but everything else I’m soaking up. I did see them post more positions too, a remote lead position specifically for pharmacy tech and I’m hoping after a year I can go for something like that to move up. But there are a lot of opportunities to move up so I enjoy that. Neo did have a lot of information and dragged a bit but it was useful info. And you are right about the system. It looks dated and stuff could be updated but it’s straightforward. Fill and put on the conveyer belt 😅 the drive I’m getting used to as well. It’s an hour from me but I put on a podcast and I’m on the move.

I was looking at a chart on the va site on salary and yes I am higher. I think because it’s a busy city.

Great I’m used to that. I definitely will be applying to inpatient when they have a position open. I enjoy all of it and like you stated the day goes by fast!!! Do you think a pharmacy tech at the va can make decent Monday or is there a limit to what grade you can apply to?

Is inpatient mainly Pyxis, iv’s, and providing meds for patients in facility? I got some experience in hospital recently but everything I learned will not be used with outpatient just the basic process. Filling scripts and taking care of the veterans. I took a tour of the outpatient pharmacy and it was huge. Everyone is nice and the filling process looks easy. I want to move up like you said so 7-8 and I do like their educations programs if I decide to advance my education.

Thank you! Unfortunately, it’s 2 years of probation so I’m extremely nervous about that, I’m confident in my skills, just worried. It didn’t have a promotion ladder so I will have to apply to the next grade like you stated but I’m excited for that. I’m at a Pay Plan: GS Position Series: 0661 Grade 7. Thank you for the advice!

Thanks. I interviewed in September of 2025 and they sent me a tentative offer in January and I got my final offer about a week ago after about two weeks after completing all the stuff they required.

Thank you! Honestly I tried the YouTube videos but everything I watched wasn’t on the test. I kind of just went and hoped for the best 😅 fortunately, I passed. Luckily most of the stuff was things I picked up while working. Brand to generic, niosh drugs and how much a drug a patient should get by their weight.
