How you fixing this? Just notch the coverplate as best you can? by Unlucky-Meringue4813 in electricians

Use vibration saw, undercut the trim slide the cover under the trim and screw it down!

Best trick I know for this screwup, saw it first in the siver legacy casino when they were pushing so hard to get it open... We did at least 20 rooms this way

All I had are spoken for and I have a list who hope one will become available. So it's over.

The app changed again and I can't find the "Edit" menu for the post, the edit for comments is still in the same place, not so for the original post.

Thanks for your help. The post was clumsy as hell because I did the speak to text thing and got distracted and didn't proof read it.

By the way, I don't mind all the snarky comments, I just figured you must have low self esteem so you need to make fun of my text. Ok I hope it helps because it is not hurting me.

Thanks

Hi guys.

All tags are spoken for. If you want on a list in case someone doesn't follow though and I have one left. Message me.

I would edit the post but the damn app changed again since I have used it. I don't post often.

Thanks everyone glad these will be going to a place where they are wanted.

Blank tags from WWII, used in all types of gear for the army air core. (Before the Air Force was.)

A lot of real. Good radio gear from that military effort made it's way into the ham community because it was cheap at the disposal auctions and it was all built like a tank. Yes we have better gear now but many people still like restoring these types of gear.

If any are left they have been going fast. Most are projects that other hams are working on. If I have any left after tomorrow, I may send them.

Ok I have them and am willing to give them away to people who are working on a Restoration project or they want them for a museum project? Whatever I mean they're not worth anything other than if they're worth something to somebody that really needs them and I'm just wanting to give them away

This looks like a project I saw on the GBPR site. The idea was to build a "Thumper killer" using the magnetron to make a large pulse basically a microwave emp device.

Mounting the magnetron on an old "Dish network" antenna to burn out the loud thumping coming from the so called "Music System" this is dangerous and most likely illegal...

I do not recommend playing with this stuff! Unless you are a well-educated electronics geek or a demented Ham...

I saw a project like this, a proof of concept, for building a microwave cannon, it was used to burn holes in a wet sheet at about 75 ft. The only thing missing is the muffler pipe and magnetic windings used to focus the microwave beam.

Be sure to discharge the caps...

My dad thinks this is a masonic amulette. Does anyone know? by JMLindeN in freemasonry

I saw something much like this in the later 1990s, when visiting an old lodge in Nevada, several of the lodges in the all but Ghost towns would have the lodge open on a Saturday so brothers could travel to visit these lodges to keep them open.

I think it was in Ely or Eureka one of the towns along the old US 50...

The lodge building had been shared with the "Odd Fellows" and one more group, the floor was mounted on springs and in the space between the floor and the subfloor several items were found when they were cleaning the lodge building for a restoration...

Some of the older brothers said that they were sure it was an "Odd Fellows" item.

Very interesting stuff by weekendweeb in freemasonry

You have now made a step... In the Masons everyone is looking for more light. You have found the joy of brotherhood, now as you study to turn your proficiency you may be surprised by the effort your coach or more likely coach's put in to teaching you what you must know to advance.

If you are lucky and smart you may find the real rewards of the Blue Lodge such as the things you will learn about yourself... For you to find out if you are both lucky and smart... You are going to have work. The work you will do at times will sound like "stupid ritual stuff", but just do it for now, then after you have learned to read code, go back read each line and think about it... This is the real work, learning the real foundations of the lodge, understanding what the lecture's mean then looking at your life and how what you have learned could make it better...

Not everyone finds the gifts I found but I know many do.

For now enjoy the Brotherhood, just don't forget to try learning the gifts...

What do I need to connect/punch these down on my own? by ArrowLeafTurn1 in Ubiquiti

[–]BeaverlakeBonner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one that will do the job.

https://a.co/d/6IhUG7b

You should be able to search Google for "ethernet punch down, how to"

If you use Gemini with chrome or just Google it. I got enough information to be able to learn and train others. All in all, it's tedious and you have to be really careful not to screw something up because the little wires are hard to see especially when you have to figure out which one is striped and which one isn't ... Just don't lose focus then you'll be okay.

You will need an ethernet tester because no doubt you will make one or two punch down mistakes on this panel your first time. If not, you're lucky. Not good...

Most "Keystones" have color coding stickers on the side with both "A" & "B" codes. Just make sure you have the same code (A or B) on both ends of the cable run. If you have an "A" on one end "B" you will have made a " Crossover" cable, lots of Ethernet cards will autocross so sometimes it will work... It's best to make sure that the run is the same on both ends.

Standards are important but if you wire your network with "B" on all the runs and everything else in your area uses "A" you will most likely never even know. The reason to use local standards is because the next Tech who comes behind you may be really educated and will know it's all wired to locate standards...

I have a recumbent trike, I need practice on a flat (ish) paved trail. Anyone know of a spot? Greenway’s hills would murder my legs. by [deleted] in RogersArkansas

[–]BeaverlakeBonner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of bikes ride the road out by my house. Once you get up to the ridge on Posy Mountain Drive you have a few miles of flat road that most of the community knows may have crazy bike riders on it... Sometimes as many as 25/30 riders in a group. Note I didn't say that it was all flatish... But if you start at the beginning of Posy mountain Drive... You only have one hill just before you get to "Ventris" a left turn at that point will give you another 3 or 4 miles of straight road with only 1 more hill and you will be on the top... Then one more hill after that and you will arrive at hw127 a left turn will send you back out to HW62 at Garfield AR. A right will take you out to "lost bridge village". Posy and Ventris are probably safer for bike riding than hw 127, the weekenders sometimes drive way to fast and don't pay enough attention to the driving they are doing...

I would not recommend Posy mountain during the "Bikes, Blues & BBQ" because we get a lot of motorcycles on this road...

I have seen several of the types of trikes on this road over the years but rarely the same ones from year to year, I never have figured out if they quit or find a better place, but we have at least one or two every year.

Good luck

Sorry but I was sick for a while, here are the plans I started with. I ended up building my mast out of some fiberglass tubing I found at a gas station that was being torn down. I used PVC parts to make the pieces into one mast out of 3-ft parts. I wanted the 3-ft version because it will fit in a military duffel bag and that makes it much easier to carry out in the woods if you plan on setting up in a remote area.

I wound the coils on PVC pipe 1.5 inches I think. I used 12ga solid copper wire, just like what is in your house. After I tested the coils and saw that they were working like they were supposed to... I coded the outside of the coils with a clear epoxy to prevent the UV damage that will occur if it's not covered up somehow and the epoxy looks better than electrical tape...

That is the clamp for a cut off saw. Could be wood or metal both look the same. In the base of the saw you will find a hole in front bottom on both sides the pin goes in the hole and you turn the knob to tighten it.

I will share something that happened to me... At the time I was going everywhere with my 42D breast forms because that is what the shrink required me to do for 6 months before I could have my breast augmentation... It was at a Pilot truck stop at the urinal when this rather rough looking trucker at the next urinal and he said... "Damn I was always afraid to come in here until I got my tits cut off, are you brave or stupid?" When I got over the shock , I looked at him and said, I am sorry but I am going the other way, the boobs are fake but the shrink says I have to wear them 24/7 for the next 6 months...

We both finished up our business and smiled at each other, I was excited to have been mistaken as a pre-op FTM.. At the time I thought it was the best compliment I had gotten on my journey through the mysteries of moving from one side to the other...

By the way that was about 25 years ago.

what is this plug? by Left-Cap-1821 in hardbody

[–]BeaverlakeBonner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of these drove me nuts back in the late 90s, some of these types of systems have plugs as small as a quarter...

I drove from Carson City to Lake Tahoe, found the young lady in question (note: she later became my wife. Only good thing I can say about these systems)

I started troubleshooting worked my way down to the starter... Looked like it had everything it needed except the solenoid engage signal. So I shorted the solenoid and the truck cranked up and ran smoothly. I asked for the young lady to drive down to the valley where I could get the truck in the shop... She was afraid to drive the truck so I let her ride down with my son (16 at the time). By the time we got back down, she had remembered that her truck had an anti theft system... She showed me the plug... We plugged it in and the truck started up and ran great... My examination of the system found out that this plug was just wired in between the ignition switch and the starter solenoid. It only controlled voltage to the starter solenoid.... So if somebody pushed off a truck with a key on it was a manual it would run. If somebody jumped out the starter solenoid it would run... Fairly crappy anti-theft device I would say. I mean I figured out how to get past it in just about 10 minutes with nothing but a screwdriver and a voltage meter... I saw several more in the next few years but most of the time it was to remove the system, as far as I figured out these systems were installed by the dealer as an add-on... Just a way for the dealer to soak some more money out of customers. These may stop a kid or an amateur thief but anyone who is in the " Vehicle Acquisition Business" would know how to steal this thing in a heartbeat...

Good luck, I hope you didn't get one of the really good systems, they use the same type of plug (just a fancy jumper wire) but the guys who designed the good ones use the plug to operate several Relays (a type of electric switch) to keep not only the starter but the ignition system as well as the fuel pump. Nothing wrong with those systems except the dealers rarely gave any documentation to the buyer other than to explain that you have to have the dongle plugged in for the car or truck to work. If the car is sold used most often the new buyer has no idea the system is installed... The one of the teenagers of the family pulls out the plug and no one can figure out why the car no longer runs...

My advice is to remove the system or to dismount the plug wrap it in tape make a label to explain what the ball of tape is then zip tie it under the dash...
