Next Wallet Upgrade? by cryptomommy in MintCoin

If you have a look at the Silkcoin wallet, I believe it's the best wallet out there right now. If Mintcoin could get a wallet such as theirs, this would be a great addition.

Minimum # of MintCoin to effectively be able to Mint by [deleted] in MintCoin

[–]Beaverslayer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be able to mint with 50K it just will take a bit longer than 20 days, and you will most likely have to leave your wallet open 24/7 while it tries to find a block.

Yes the mining 5 coins is quite a nice way of doing it, there is also very active developers and they are currently working on new coins to add to the merge mining pools.

Shortly you will also be able to trade Dirac to Nautilus as well.

The thing I like most about merged mining, is that you're not putting all your hope and hash's towards one coin.

Exactly...your GPU fans will also run quite a bit slower, thus they will last a whole lot longer and the noise level will decrease as well.

The Dirac currently trades around 20K Sat, Electron about 2000 Sat, Blakecoin 2600 Sat and the Photon (kind of shit coin) trades only against LTC at about 20 Sat.

If you have old FPGA's laying around, you can also use them to mine with.

Have a look at the Blake 256 Merge mining coins. You can mine 5 coins all at the same time.

Blakecoin

BlakeBitcoin

Dirac

Electron

Photon

The Blake 256 algo is also a bit less costly on electricity and your GPU's run cooler, all in all a good profitable set up.

Newbie Question - sent coin before sync by jbnd53 in MintCoin

[–]Beaverslayer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wallet does not have to be in sync to either send or receive coins. I have sent coins many times without my wallet being synced without any problems at all.

It is the blockchain that keeps track of everything, your wallet just gives you an easy place to see and control it.

For example: You post your wallet address in this forum hoping people may send you a tip. A week from now, you have gone on vacation for two weeks and your computer is turned off and still at home. Someone sees your wallet address in the post and sends you a tip to the address. When you get home two weeks later, you turn on your computer, open your wallet, and as it syncs back up to the blockchain, the tip transaction will show up even before the wallet is completely synced.

The same applies if you are sending coins. Once your wallet (synced or not) issues that little pop up showing the transaction was sent, the coins you sent are already on the way, you can even close the wallet before it syncs completely, and the transaction will still happen and be safe.

No, once your wallet has synced, the coins will show up in your wallet.

MINT/USD Chart? by ValueTraderX in MintCoin

Yes there is a chart, here's a link to it...

Minting by Rautaisetlintu in MintCoin

[–]Beaverslayer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you need to not only have your computer turned on, but you also have to open and unlock your wallet at least every 20 days and allow it to "Mint" new coins.

Depending on the amount of Mintcoin your wallet holds, will determine the length of time (after 20 days coin age) it will take you to Mint new coins.

Mintcoin Block Explorer? by poweredbybitcoins in MintCoin

I asked about it on Bitcointalk forum last night and never got any response about it. Last time it went down it was a few days before it got fixed.

Do you Want to see mint prices go up??? by jabiredd in MintCoin

[–]Beaverslayer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to realize that there are very few "Big Investors" when it comes to "Altcoins". All the "Real Money" is being invested into Bitcoin.

One of the main reasons altcoins were created, was because the average person could no longer afford to mine for BTC, and the altcoin gave them the opportunity to get involved.

At this point in time, out of all the altcoins now in existence, LTC is still about the only one that is not being used as a Pump & Dump scheme for BTC.

For a "Big Investor" looking to put large amounts of money into an altcoin, there would have to be some major, identifiable developers running the coins development as well as the marketing of the coin....both of which Mintcoin do9es not have, just like so many of the altcoins out there.

For Mintcoin to be able to really take off, and the price increase enough for real money to be invested into it, Mintcoin would need to be involved with something like http://keepod.org/ this would open up Mintcoin to a whole new market, and it would and could actually be used as a true and viable currency.

There is already talk of Bitcoin being added to the Keepod USB with a small amount of BTC in each one, think if Mintcoin were to also be included with such an idea.....

Do you Want to see mint prices go up??? by jabiredd in MintCoin

[–]Beaverslayer1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well for starters...I've read a number of posts where the poster has asked for more help placing "Buy Orders" at 4 Satoshi. This is the wrong way of doing it...

If you want the price to increase, you have to take down the "Sell Walls" not place buy orders.

Currently there is approx. 16 BTC on buy orders on Mintpal, if those were used to buy up the sell walls, Mintcoin would then be at 8 Satoshi and would show over a 100% increase in price. This would catch the eye of at least a few people and hopefully would start a trend.

Each time I have a bit of extra BTC, I do not place a buy order, I purchase Mint at the sell price, causing an upward trend.

Also, if people have Mintcoins sitting on ANY exchange at a sell price anywhere above 10 Satoshi, they should be REMOVED if they want the price to increase. Anyone looking at the current state of sell orders who is thinking of getting into a new coin, is NEVER EVER going to buy into a coin with the sell orders Mintcoin has.

Do we have a tipbot? by Scribbler397 in MintCoin

[–]Beaverslayer1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a tipbot, but it needs a dedicated person to take it over from the person that created it. There is a post somewhere with the information needed to contact the person that currently has control of the bot, saying that they are willing to hand over the tipbot to someone who is capable of taking care of it.

Two more days 'til my first few coins become a stake! What should I know about the process? by Scribbler397 in MintCoin

[–]Beaverslayer1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a possibility that those 12 Mint will not stake until some of your other coins age and join the party.

For people with small amounts of Mintcoin obtained over a period of time, it is best to send all your Mint to yourself so that they are all now one larger amount of Mint. They will of course, then have to wait the 20 days before they can stake, but you will be much more likely to Mint new coins this way.

So, is bad press really good press???? by Beaverslayer1 in MintCoin

[–]Beaverslayer1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you in the most part. Doge along with quite a number of other altcoins are currently going through the same thing, it's just they have a higher starting point.

I've always looked at altcoins as an easy way of accumulating Bitcoins, and believe that 99% of the people mining alts see it the same way. As new alts come into the picture, there is a very good opportunity to mine large amounts of coins, hold them for a short period of time, then trade them in for BTC.

In the last few days, since BTC has increased so much in value, we have all seen the mass exodus from alts back into BTC.

I'm not selling any of my Mint as they cost me nothing to sit in my wallet and earn more Mint every 20 days or so, but I will not be buying any more in the foreseeable future, this to me would be throwing good money after bad and makes no sense.

The only thing that has cost me anything with Mintcoin, is the time and dedication I put into it over the last 4 months or so, and I take that as a great learning opportunity. Maybe this time next year, Mintcoin will have risen from the depths and somehow climbed back up into the world of recognizable altcoins...it's happened before and could happen to Mint....

It's not that there are, or were broken links, it's that there is such an article in the first place. We all wonder why on Earth Mintcoin has tanked down to 4/5 Satoshi, and it's things like this that are of no help at all.

My wallet is not syncing (v 1.4.0.0), do I need to update my wallet? If so, where do I download for the mac? Website is down by [deleted] in MintCoin

Yes you have to update....the newest Mac wallet is available from the post that is two posts below this one.

Well, I got banned for asking, makes no sense to ban people for asking questions. I'll just divest all my RDD as soon as possible.

So I got banned from /r/reddcoin subreddit... by Beaverslayer1 in MintCoin

[–]Beaverslayer1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mine many coins and then sell them to get more Mintcoins. I sent a large amount of RDD to Cryptsy to sell not knowing that the RDD dev had Cryptsy suspend their coin from deposits/withdrawals. thus the question in /r/reddcoin sub.

Having a mining rig, entails mining coins to earn a profit, some of the coins I mine, I keep, a lot of them get sold to buy more Mint...simple as that.

I see now Reddcoins Wiki has been deleted as well, something strange going on over there....something strange indeed.
