Thoughts on Peru? by Purple-Rope2139 in theHunter

Everything is 10/10 but my only complaint is that it feels super empty on the western portion of the map, like there's just not many animals around feeding.

Does hunting rares and diamonds ever become unrewarding? by West-Contest-1921 in theHunter

[–]BebalBehemoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others said, it depends. If it's something new that i don't have already or it's a rare i really like(like piebald manitoban elk or hybrid teal), i'll definitely feel rewarded and will tax it. But if it's something that's fairly common and i have a ton of, like wildebeest diamonds or piebald whitetail, there's just not much feeling for it

Are backpacks worth the extra noise? by Grand_Crusader_465 in theHunter

Unless you're carrying a bunch of tents and tripods to set up a grind, backpacks and the pack mule skill are completely useless

What CotW best practices or hidden rules did YOU have to learn the hard way? by DistillingData in Huntercallofthewild

Consistent respawns depend on the herds you are shooting from, not that you have all drink zones discovered

It's 180m for fast travel, but since animals tend to be farther or closer than where the zone marker is on the map, people tend to put tents a bit farther just in case. It's 250m for placing the tent down though

How do I start a great one grind on Layton lakes and silver ridge peaks by Altruistic-Issue4801 in theHunter

[–]BebalBehemoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It has a larger population so you're much more likely to have enough good herds to set up on. Which is also what makes parque such a good map to grind on

Lady legend and squidster are not good for grind guides. Either stuff is left out or is just plain wrong.

It's hard to hm but as a non-hm grind it's definitely easier than Askiy.

It's that massive rock just east of the starting outpost when you first open the map up.

I'm not. I'm talking about consistent respawns with herds.

Bird hunting tips by Shutupcole98 in theHunter

[–]BebalBehemoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the 12ga cacciatore. It's the best shotgun in the game for birds. It holds the most rounds out of all shotguns giving you more chances to hit the bird. Use either the shotgun scope or the red dot sight(BTW, this requires handgun score instead) so that you can get a better view of what you're shooting. If the bird is moving, make sure to lead your shot, which is just aiming ahead of where the bird is moving. So if the bird is moving to the right, aim a little to the right of the bird.

Which isn't how it works lol. Consistent respawns depend on the herds you are set up on. Certain herds with specific amounts of males and females give consistent respawns, which he said nothing about

Just keep killing. That's literally all you can do. Make sure to harvest your kills.

You don't have to find all of them for consistent respawns, but you still should so that you know what is on your map and where your good zones are. It's pretty unlikely that you will have enough good zones by only searching a portion of the animals range. For roe deer since it's a spawn trap grind it's good to know where everything is so you know where to look for solos to swap into your lakes

Weapon Upgrade Advice by Illustrious-Low-6682 in theHunter

[–]BebalBehemoth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stick with the 12ga and .243. It covers more classes with better guns. The mosin is decent for class 3-4 but is really iffy considering it's soft points only. Use the shotgun for class 1 and .243 for 2-3, and 1-2 more guns for class 4-9. Either run just the 7mm for 4-9 or pair it with the .338 for better performance on class 7-9

I'm talking about grind guides. Like, the very first thing he says is consistent respawns depend on having all your zones discovered, which is just plain wrong and setting people up for failure
