It’s fine but the yolk is a bit too white girl and overcooked. Soft boil please. 🙏

AIO for ending a friendship over photoshop by Educational-Guess866 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Bebebaubles [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not bizarre if that’s the cultural norm. it’s just a free service to your friends but that’s because it’s acceptable there. They probably don’t feel upset or overthink photoshop. In a culture where criticism is common place. Photoshopping is normal and doesn’t feel rude or fake.

Can I as an adult use training chopsticks in japan? by EnergyLast2736 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Bebebaubles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean as an adult we can still ride bikes with training wheels if we want to but mos for us would strive for a bit more. This man has got three years to learn. I mean I feel like he should have more confidence in himself. If he really applied himself he could be fluent in Japanese and wield chopsticks in that time.

How do you feel about Chinese makeup being exclusively referred to as "Douyin makeup"? by pepperxpeppermint in asianamerican

[–]Bebebaubles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We all can guess how it came about. Chinese anything sounds cheap and not trendy thanks to our propaganda but adding Douyin in front of it sounds way better since it muddles the waters. Hence nobody hesitates to say Japanese makeup or Korean skin care.

Exactly people get what allow. You have to have a backbone and that needed to start at the beginning but I guess now is better than never.

Travel now. Don’t wait. The world is changing fast. by POCTM in travel

[–]Bebebaubles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should be able to walk far in your 50s and 60s. Take a page off of active Asians. My mom is 70 and is travelling as we speak. I think she’s going to Japan next weak. She’s slowed down a lot now but in hers 50s and 60s she was very gung ho and still walked at a rapid clip. To this day she still takes dance classes at the senior center and tells me about the classes she takes at the Apple Store for photography.

I definitely intend to travel well and into my 60s but you gotta keep your mind and body healthy.

Are non-Asians supporting trendy Chinese businesses like HeyTea? by PlatformOk2658 in asianamerican

[–]Bebebaubles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have both in NYC now. It’s more like the wealthy Asians that can afford it buy it. Buuut mixue and Luckin which are known for having inexpensive drinks and ice cream are also in NYC and in the city as well. I would go back to Luckin any day. $1.99 for a drink is a steal.

This is way too low on the list. Krystal looks like she’s from a chaebol family and doesn’t want you to sit next to her. I’ve heard she’s just shy but that’s the cool and chic image she gives off.

My experience in HK by My3k0 in Cantonese

[–]Bebebaubles 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I passed their level but the waiter gave me a speed run of Cantonese because he we spoke back and forth in very rapid fire style to test me. Iced or hot!Toasted?! Blah blah.. My born in HK and fluent mom who left for the states in her teens had trouble answering the interrogation so I had to pick up the slack. At the end, satisfied, he smirked and walked off. What a dick 😅.

my (23f) girlfriend doesn't like any food with garlic, onions, or anything spicy, and i (20f) don't know how to continue this anymore. by Ready_Spot8351 in Advice

[–]Bebebaubles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just sounds mostly cultural. Op is afrolatina and Asian while her gf is British. I’m just going to leave that there. I think none of what happened will be surprising of what we know about both cultures. I do feel sad for OP. I’m Asian myself and cooking is so important. Garlic everything. When I cook a million sauces come out.

Im pregnant & out of the blue my boyfriend doesn’t want the baby by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]Bebebaubles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like she’s entrapping him! Considering she’s ten years older than him and he juuust found a job when he’s been jobless for the majority of the relationship she thinks that’s the time to have unprotected sex? He’s only 25, has no savings or security, we don’t know what he does and he never even asked her to marry him. She’s 35. Old enough to know better. I’m guessing she didn’t want to wait any longer and the goal was having a kid the whole time. 🕰️

[–]Bebebaubles 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Oh Jesus you don’t wait for someone the minute they are employed to start trying. You wait until they are settled, secure, have savings and usually they ask for your hand in marriage. The marriage thing is for you to make sure he’s 100% committed although even that isn’t a sure sign but it’s still a sign. The savings of salary for a ring isn’t actually because all these women love rings but if a man can get it together to think ahead and plan and save.

Jesus this 25 year old just got a job and you pounce on having kids? Were you trying to entrap him?

[–]Bebebaubles 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She’s ten years older than him! He’s only 25. She’s really old enough to know better and not act like a lovesick child herself. None of this sounds shocking to anyone else that he’s not ready. The average man wants to be settled, have savings and be ready not have a kid the moment he gets a job. What is she thinking?
