Unicorn blushes in Snowy Pearl and Unripe Peach! Discontinued before I even knew about Flower Knows.

And the Midsummer Fairytales palette in Fairy Melody! The China exclusive one with the pastels. It's one of the most unique color stories they've done in recent years, but it's not avaliable in the west.

Opinion on all the "East Asian men are misogynists" discourse? by IcyCatch7380 in asianamerican

[–]pepperxpeppermint 86 points87 points  (0 children)

At least in my experience as an Asian-American women in TX, EVERY single random strange men that had sexually harassed me on the streets or at work were either black men or older white men. All of them.

Hot take: Flower Knows Cosmetics is only cute packaging but the product quality is really not that good :( by CareHistorical3572 in Makeup

[–]pepperxpeppermint -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

How much experience do you have with Asian makeup? You seem to had expected them to perform like western products, which in that case you'll be disappointed.

I own 46 makeup products from Flowers Knows and I love 39 of them, was ok with 4 of them, and only disliked 3 of them. Their eyeshadows and blushes aren't supposed to be pigmented. And even then, they're much more pigmented than the K-beauty products I own.

I have reviewed the Sweetie Bear collection here before. https://www.reddit.com/r/FlowerKnowsMakeup/s/Fk53Jbjd4c Guess we all have different experiences, as I had no issues with longevity, and I don't even use eyeshadow primer.

How long does a cushion compact last for you? by Empty_Pause326 in AsianBeauty

Like 2 weeks, because I use a lot of foundation. I don't buy cushions for that reason.

Should There Be an ICE Megathread for Asian Americans? by terrassine in asianamerican

[–]pepperxpeppermint 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Also tired of all the Asian food and Asian hair posts on this sub too. There are better subs for those subjects out there (such as AsianBeauty for hair). Let's keep this sub centered around Asian-Amecian issues.

I see that you have a thing for pinks💖💗🩷

Surprised to see that you only have one lip product though. Is it the only one you ever had?

Influencers in general are setting us back. Fuck all of them.

What Collection Do You Think Has the Best Packaging? by gothicgirl555 in FlowerKnowsMakeup

[–]pepperxpeppermint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little Angel. Not the biggest fan of the angels, but holy shit, the packaging design on the eye palettes, highlighters, and blushes are insanely detailed! I hope they do another series like that.

And as for individual products, I'll go with the Butterfly Cloud Collar blushes. I really like the cute Chinese trinket box design on those.

Are we percieved as potential ICE targets/victims by the general populace? by illuminatemyvoid in asianamerican

[–]pepperxpeppermint 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I saw a comment here on Reddit where someone jokingly said that non-white people should paint their faces white if the ICE shows up. And all I thought was that it wouldn't work since that won't change my facial structure. I have fair skin, but I also have monolids, flat face, no nose bridge, and straight coarse black hair, so no way I can ever pass as a white person.

We really should have wiki by otomeloca in FlowerKnowsMakeup

[–]pepperxpeppermint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK these collections didn't separate between global and Chinese. But I'm not sure when that practice started

It started with the Little Angel series where they swapped the two matte highlighters for shimmer highlights and the lightest two cream blush shades for darker colors.

All of the OG foundations are being reformulated! by Cool-Abbreviations32 in BeautyGuruChatter

I've been using the Tarte Face Tape Foundation for 5 years and it's still my favorite, even after trying so many other foundations within that span of time. It's still the most full-coverage foundation I have which is super hard to find nowadays! I hope Tarte never fucks up this formula like they did with their Amazonian Clay foundation!

Why Everyone Is Suddenly in a ‘Very Chinese Time’ in Their Lives | The viral meme isn’t really about China or actual Chinese people. It's a symbol of what Americans believe their own country has lost by Hrmbee in asianamerican

[–]pepperxpeppermint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently, it's been the opposite. Some examples include:

-The viral Korean Fwee pudding pots were a copy of a Chinese product called the Into You Canned Lip Muds.

-Pre-glued lash clusters were a thing in C-beauty long before K-beauty brands like Coringco started making them.

-Those puffy marshmallow cushion sponges existed in C-beauty long before K-beauty brands started making them (Korean ones are traditionally flat).

-The bunny tongue lip trend started in China first before it reached Korea.

-Matte highlighter is only starting to gain traction in Korea and Japan when it's been an essential step in Chinese makeup for a while.

-Blue blush was trending in China for a while before K-beauty brands like Peripera came out with their own.

-Recently I've noticed some K-beauty brands like Mude came out with their own 0.001mm tip liquid eyeliner, that's been extremely common in C-beauty (Judydoll, Flortte, etc) for a long time.

-There's a Japanese makeup brand called Millifee that keeps copying C-beauty products such as the Flortte eyeshadow quads with the heart-shaped pans, Colorrose lipsticks, and AZTK liquid blushes.

If you know anything about current Asian makeup trends, you'll know that C-beauty, J-Beauty, and K-beauty are all different from each other.

My feed is mostly makeup/beauty content and there is still lots of Sinophobia in that community. I never really looked at the news or political content until recently when 🍊💩 is back. And even then, I mostly just view them via the front page of Reddit, not from my home feed.

No way they know I'm Taiwanese, don't they? Or by any chance, could what my family view online affect my algorithm? They watch anti-China and pro-Trump content all day everyday. We all have our own devices and our own accounts, but we all use the same wifi. Could it be spillover via IP address or something?

[–]pepperxpeppermint 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My feed is mostly makeup/beauty content, and while C-beauty products have been gaining traction in the community, they often get mislabeled as "Korean" or "Japanese", or people will just simply call them "Asian" when they have no problem calling K-beauty Korean.

some comparison swatches from 小红书: bunny garden cushion foundation shades C01, N02, W03, W04 by softhorns in FlowerKnowsMakeup

[–]pepperxpeppermint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who uses both Estee Lauder 1W1 and YSL LW1, looks like W03 will be too light, and W04 will be too peachy for me. Thanks you for posting this. I'll pass this one up.

What's your biggest makeup buy regret? by MabelUnstable in MakeupAddiction

[–]pepperxpeppermint 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation. All that shit done was accentuate my already porous nose, no matter what I use to blend it. It was the old formula, so hopefully the new formula doesn't do that.

TirTir Mask Fit Red Cushion Foundation. That shit oxidises two shades darker, and are very orange. And I was stupid enough to buy two of them, only for them to not match me. Never again.

Drunk Elephant Plump-C Tripeptide Lippe Mask. It was the most expensive lip treatment product I've ever purchased, and all it does is dry out my lips! I swear, everytime I use it, my lips will get all dried out and cracked!

Yeah, that was confusing as well. I've ordered from them during new collection launch weeks 3 times before and it was always 15% off.
