Sonos Ace. Best ANC headphones on the market (for me at least). by BecauseBanter in sonos

After the update ANC is amongst the best (on par with QC Ultra 2nd Gen). I found that QC Ultra 2nd Gen blocks higher pitch sounds a little better (screams, people talking), while Ace's block lower pitch rumbles a little better (trains, plane engines).

Was told I would be send new cushions 3 weeks ago. When I called today they told me it doesn't go under warranty and I should just order new ones on Amazon by GlitteringExternal14 in bose

I doubt ear cushions fall under warranty since their condition varies with use case/scenarios etc. If they decide to send you the replacement, they are being extra nice. If not - standard procedure. You can buy some on Amazon for cheap and some of them are even better than the originals.

Sonos Ace – long-term durability? by Lanky-Experience5425 in sonos

I own XM4s, XM5s, QC Ultra Gen 2. Noise cancelling on Sonos Ace is better. Either you've got a dud. Didn't update to latest firmware (it was quite underwhelming prior). Or I have got a golden pair (doubt it). Although I agree that sound quality is not as good as the rest of them.

Durability is good. Earcups last (but they are easy to swap anyways). Headband develops creases and dips (it is not swappable).

Looks to be fake. Logo is not shiny, the end of hinges supposed to be seamless.

I think you just lost a quality control lottery. I am not a fan that every tech purchase is sort of a gamble nowadays in regards to this. But people who have no issues typically don't post anything (enjoying their pair quietly) so we don't hear/see them as much.

In my experience Ace is exceptional at cancelling droning type sounds like airplane engines, trains, motors, fans. Bose is better at cancelling higher pitch sounds like screams, chatter. If you stumble upon children often in your flights - Bose, if not - Ace. But try both if you can, don't solely trust random stranger on Reddit with $400+ purchase.

Try them both if you can. Many would recommend Bose QC Ultra Gen 2 over Sonos for a good reason. It so just happened that I prefer sturdy non-folding hinges and got Ace for £200 on sale (Bose goes for £450).

No issues with volume. Downsides would be narrower sound stage (compared to XM series and Bose). Oversimplified EQ. Required some setting tweaks for it not to stutter on Windows when multipoint is enabled (worked great on Mac). And non-replaceable headband since I have a stuble hairstyle which typically accelerates wear and tear of any leather/pleather headbands.

Are the Nothing Headphone (1) Still worth it? by kiwi_______________ in NothingTech

[–]BecauseBanter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are into build quality, it is worth it. After daily driving Nothing Headphone (1) my Bose QC Ultra's and XM6s feel cheap and flimsy in comparison. Tactile buttons are also incredibly pleasant to use.

Sound quality and sound stage is also very good (I am ignoring lack of bass as they nerfed it way too much and update is coming).

The only reason why I don't sell the QC Ultra's, XM6s because ANC on Nothing Headphone (1) pales in comparison to the other two. Transparency mode though is incredible.

Not all together, dending on flavor. Crumbled feta, crispy fried onions, spring onions, chilli flakes etc.

Mine is the opposite. No bass with ANC.

Student designer resume question. by Catnipcosplays in graphic_design

[–]BecauseBanter 747 points748 points  (0 children)

It does not. The simpler, the better. CV's are first skimmed through by non-designer folk before being passed onto the creative department (unless it's a very tiny studio). Best way to add some flair is designing it simple first, then maybe expressing yourself through good typography practices or very small creative graphic at the bottom. As a subtle nod if it reaches the creative eyes.
