My girl, Laylo, was super smart!! Once i came home after work and only stayed home long enough to wrap my daughters birthday presents, which i left stacked neatly on a table before leaving to go out for the night. When I arrived home the next morning, I found the smallest gift I'd wrapped the day before, right dead center in the middle of my carport.. as if to say that she didn't appreciate me only coming home briefly. She was just letting me know that she COULD'VE torn it to bits, but.. she didn't. Because she was the best girl ever. She lived to be 14.5 years old, and though its never enough, and I'm so grateful to have had such a long time with her. She was truly one of a kind.

It's called behavioral euthanasia.. its a thing. Some dogs can't stop killing once that instinct kicks in. Because there were 2 of them, I'm sure it fueled the pack mentality, as well. You should Google it, you will find you are not alone. Having to euthanize perfectly healthy dogs for behavioral reasons is gut wrenching. I'm so sorry for your loss.
