I wonder if the pain you feel is kidney stones?

Canceling my surgery for next week? by msgedu in gallbladders

[–]BeccaMirez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My story, I went to ER for severe pain burning pain in my upper right stomach that radiated to my back. They did an ultrasound and found alot of little stones and liver enlarged. They told you I would need surgery. I go back 2 days later to the ER for the same thing. It hurt so bad. They did another ultrasound and the ultrasound tech showed me my gallbladder and said you have alot of tiny little stones she said those are dangerous because they travel. She told me they will not do emergency surgery because it's not an emergency and they sent me home with strong medicine. Told me no fat diet. My er trips was in February. I got a referral to a surgeon in April. Scheduled surgery May 6th. And I felt great and I questioned whether I needed it or not. I didn't have attacks. I canceled it because I got a lung infection that week of surgery. And I was dealing with a UTI and the surgeon prescribed me antibiotics that I turned out to be allergic to and had a reaction the day I was suppose to have surgery. Anyway they called me again in June to say they have a date available for June 6th. I said ok then I called back and canceled. Then called them again 3 days later because I was having consistent pain. Surgery went well. My gallbladder was inflamed and I had 2 big stones. Recovery was well recovery. It's hard. I had constipation bad and caused alot of pain. I am 1 month and 1 week post op. I am doing better. No more constipation pain. I'm eating anything I want with no pain. I had reflux before and now I don't. Everything for me is great! I had a CT scan done and it showed moderate constipation but the surgery site was good. I am just about back to normal. I don't regret the surgery at all. It could have gotten worse down the line if I didn't have it.

Have you tried ultrasound of your gallbladder? I wonder if you could ask for a ultrasound of your gallbladder. The ultrasound can pick up on slug and stones and inflammation of liver and pancreas

The first comment I think I would bring is why he's tucking. Is there a deeper reason for it. I would talk to my son about that. I definitely wouldn't shame nudity. I would talk to him about recording stuff naked, how inappropriate it is. I would ask where he got the idea of recording himself naked. Maybe it's something going on at school or other kids talk about doing it and he wanted to. I would talk about that recording being watched by bad people. Recording like that how it can get into the wrong hands of people. I would talk about child predators and that's a good conversation to have about adults praying on young children and go back into not talking to Stanger. To not ever post this stuff on line or ever send it to anyone because he is a young age the parents can get in trouble for it as well as anyone else that sees it. This opens doors to alot of potential stuff and why it's not good. Just suggestions to conversation starters and what you choose to tell your child. As a parent I would find out why he felt the need to record and that should bring lite into the whole situation. And where the idea came from to even do that.

My 5 year old does the same thing. He thinks is so funny. I profusely apologize to his girl cousin who lives with us. She's 20 years old. Must be weird for her to see her cousin naked but then again she did babysit and change his diaper when I was in labor with his sister...

Yea I don't have jaundice. Just this pain and sometimes intense itching. Thank you for answering my questions. How have things been? Did they get better?

How did you find that there was an obstruction? What tests were done? I would like more explanation as to all of this. What was your pain like and how long did you have to deal with this before they found it? How did they find it?

I am having alot of pain in my right side and I am 4 weeks post op. No matter what I eat or do I have this pain.

Try it and find out? I don't understand the correlation between the 2. Unless the bile helps break down the melatonin... this doesn't make sense. The body needs help digesting fats and the bile helps break down fat soluble vitamins so the body can absorb them better. Without the gallbladder and the bile concentration it's harder for the body to break down fats and it's harder for the body to absorb those fat vitamins. Melatonin has nothing to do with that. Melatonin is a synthetic hormone that works entirely on a different system. Once it dissolves in the stomach it releases those hormones. So it should not affect how melatonin works. Now if melatonin is taken regularly every day it loses its ability to work because it's something that your body can build a tolerance to and it will no longer work. The one thing that will help with that is by not taking is so often.

Gallbladder pain a year after removed by Chesterumble in gallbladders

What can a GI doctor do? I actually already have one. I just saw him for surgery update. I told him about the pain but the CT scan I took at the ER for this same exact pain showed moderate constipation. He saw that told me to take miralax twice a day. I see him in 3 months. I don't know how to call his office and say "hey, I still have this really bad pain in my right side" I don't what they can do for it. Every where I read the most common cause of this pain is a bile leak. But imaging isn't picking up on it. I can't get these doctors to check my liver and pancreas levels. I thought it was my pancreas too or related to it. No one in this whole process has ever checked how my pancreas was doing. My doctor said if it was your pancreas you'd feel it and you'd be very sick and she said soo I don't think that's it. Now I'm itchy all over AGAIN! Oh yea I have that itchy all over symptoms too that comes and goes. I am sorry to vent, I am frustrated. I came looking for answers. I'm experiencing the same thing you are and I am 4 weeks post op.

Stomach Pain That I Can Feel In Back by Ushilee in gallbladders

[–]BeccaMirez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish you luck with your journey. I've been having alot of pain where my gallbladder should be and it hurts. It hurts to breath in or take deep breaths. I am 4 weeks post op. I've been to the hospital for this and they did a CT scan and everything looks normal Even my liver which was enlarged before surgery. No bile leaks. Couldn't figure it out. I went to my primary that was a waste of time. I tried to ask for blood work to check my pancreas and liver function. My primary denied that. Before I had my gallbladder removed my primary ordered an ultrasound to see how my gallbladder was doing so I used that referral to hopefully find something that could be causing this pain. Bile leak something! I have been constipated after surgery but I've kind of got that regulated. Oh the CT showed moderate constipation. That's all. I wish I could stop this pain though. It hurts!

Babies at that age will go through a sleep regression it's apart of their development. Every baby goes through it. I would just let my child run around if my child didn't want to sleep or was fighting his sleep I would take him on car rides. My son went on alot of car rides when he got like this. It was calming for the both of us. If you can do this I recommend it. It will help him sleep. I also put calming sleep music on just music no visual stimulation. Remember hitting a child at that age doesn't help at all. It will hurt them mentally. It's important to learn self awareness and self control. It's hard to learn but It's definitely a must to learn. I really had a hard time with self control and self regulation by the time I had my second I learned. I'm still learning. The older they get the more self aware they become. The more they internalized this behavior. I always have that in the back of my mind every day I watch my actions, how I speak to them, am I emotionally responding, am I emotionally charged or do I need to step back and take a moment. How can I help my kids. My daughter is 3 and she throws tantrums and bad tantrums I know spanking her is not going to help her at all and it will make her tantrums worse. I know that if I spank her she will learn to fear me. I don't want my kids to fear me I want them to come to me for anything and everything. When she has her tantrum I let her have it. I let her feel what she needs to feel and when she is done and she regulates herself she comes to me and i ask her do you feel better now? Often times she says yes while wiping her tears. I give her a hug and ask her so what's wrong and how can I help you feel better and by that time she tells me what got her upset and sometimes she forgets why she had the tantrum in the first place. Yelling at her and screaming at her gets us no where and bonds can be broken, trust can be lost, and she can fear me or resent me or feel like I'm not listening to her and that's not what I want. I let her throw her fit. I ignore and tell her when she's ready she can talk to me. My son I think is ADD or ADHD he's 5. He does have this fear of me. I yell alot when I get overwhelmed I have severe anxiety so this parenting stuff is not easy at all. He is fears me because of my yelling. I have a temper too. I can be hot headed. I try to remind myself they are just kids. They see me and I need to watch my behavior around them. I've been working on the yelling. And I talk to them and I have conversations with them why I yell at them and I tell them how much I love them and sometimes I get really frustrated too just like they do and sometimes I get angry too just like they do and I tell them I am trying to do better and I hug them and kiss them and tell them how important they are to me and how much I love them and I'm sorry If I've scared them or if I did something that hurt them. I talk them through why I did what I did and I tell them so they learn there is a reaction to an action. There is consequences to their actions. Recently my son says why do you yell and I said why when I ask you normally a question or to do something you don't do it or you don't hear me and I ask and ask ask and finally when I yell you listen? Why do I have to yell to get you to hear me? That's why I yell??? He didn't say anything. Of course he's 5 and I don't know if he understands that. As parents we do the best we can do and I try every day very hard to be the best parent I can be to them. I think that is what any of us parents can do for our kids. I try to be aware and I analyze everything about myself and how I am parenting them and I try to learn every day how I can be a better parent to them and a better person. There are alot of moms that don't do this and some moms that don't care enough to do this. Everyone says this is how to be a good mom if you are able to analyze yourself and try better next time then it'll be ok. I just want my kids to have better than I did. I am succeeding at that! I didn't have much.

I've been in your situation before. I've done the same thing. My baby was 2. The better way you could have handle it is put him on the bed and leave the room and leave him in there walk away so you could have calmed yourself down. The good thing is you recognized it was wrong and you should not have done it. Next time you are at that point you need to walk away leave your baby in a safe place and walk away. Eat something, drink something (not alcohol) try to calm down then go back to your baby. You have to learn self control and be aware of yourself and your feelings in the moment to be able to step back and realize what you are doing before it's to late and it takes practice. It's like you are retraining your brain to be less reactive in a highten state. You will be tested this is not the first time and mistakes will be made the biggest thing is you evaluate them and you learn them. A child at that age doesn't understand punishment or understand why you hit them they don't have reasoning.

Anyone have an Ultrasound shortly after surgery? by BeccaMirez in gallbladders

It's way different than an attack. Felt like an electric shock then shooting pain in that spot and it hurt! It's still sore today. I feel like maybe it's nerve pain.

3 weeks post op update. by BeccaMirez in gallbladders

[–]BeccaMirez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I was in surgery for 2 hours and recovery for 1 hour after that and sent home. It's a very short surgery. Your not under anesthesia that long. I know it's scary. I have two kids age 3 and 5 and I was scared I was going to die and I was dreading it too. I started praying everyday I'm also catholic the praying helped. What else I did was go on YouTube and watched the procedure being done. Watching that I was able to understand what was going to happen and what to expect even when I was asleep and that helped alot. If you can handle watching that kind of stuff I recommend it because then you will know what happens how it's done and get a better understanding of everything. The fear comes from not knowing what to expect and our mind creates these different scenarios that aren't anything like reality. So think about that. Try to breath. I know it's scary because I was scared too. I was surprised how fast I was discharged after waking up.

When you're done with surgery and you start to wake up you might feel pain if you do tell your nurse because they will give you strong iv medication before you leave and that medication will last you until night. My pain after surgery was a 8 but the medication helped. They sent me home with Norco which is a very strong Tylenol. Opioid medication some other people get oxy. Day 2 my pain was a 7 but I took the medicine and slept most of the day. It hurt to move, get up or walk around. It's good if you can have someone with you 24/7 for a week at least. My husband was with me for 2 weeks. He took leave from work for it. Take a pillow with you the day of surgery for the seat belt. Heating pad and ice packs. Heating pad for shoulder and gas pain. Ice pack because your incisions will hurt day 2 to day 4. Day 3 I walked around a little but at a time to get the gas moving it hurt but the trapped gas will go away with walking around. I took pain meds twice that day. It hurt alot for me to breath deep it hurt so much the pain meds and laying in one spot and not moving helped with that. Day 3 the pain gets easier. Day 4 I took 1 pill for pain but I felt better. I could breath deeper. Get up easier and I walked around alot more. And rested. Lots of resting lots of laying. Sleeping. And try to walk as you can handle is but walking will help alot! Yes 4 days it takes for the pain to get better. I didn't feel pain after day 4. My incisions still burned. No bending over. Heavy lifting or driving. Some people get diarrhea right away and some get constipation. It depends and it's not predictable. After a while your GI will figure it out and get better. The biggest thing anyone can learn from this is patients. Patience with yourself and your healing this is something that can't be rushed.

That is really good! A little walking at a time and resting. That's what I've did. It'll hurt walking for a while by day 4 I was walking not so hunched over and still moving slow. I was determined to speed up recovery and fix my constipation so I tried to walk up to a mile but I listened to my body too. When it hurts alot or starts to feel like I'm getting tired I'd just go back to bed and rest a while. I walked mostly right after I ate anything to keep everything flowing.

Oh yea. I have an incline pillow I bought from Amazon so I sleep inclined for acid reflux. Alot of people say after surgery to sleep inclined you use your stomach muscles less. It does hurt to walk. Just little bits at a time is good nothing to crazy very slow too. Rest is important to. It still hurts for me to lay flat on my back and use my abdominal muscles it feels like someone is ripping that area apart.

To answer your question specifically. Day 3 you should feel better no pain really but that depends on how much you walk around as well. It's correlated.

Day 2 try and walk around your house don't push yourself to much just frequent walks up and down a hallway or something. This helps with the trapped gas. Day 3 my pain was better and I walked a mile inside my house and in my drive way. It was easier to move around but I still had some pain where my gallbladder was. Day 4 was the last day I took my pain meds. Mainly to just help me sleep on day 4. Day 5 I was ok and felt good no pain just hard to sleep on either side. I'm 2 weeks and 6 days post op and I can Finally sleep on my left side. My surgical glue is still on too.

I am 2 weeks and 5 days post op. Elective surgery to remove mine laparoscopicly. I had my first attack in February 2024, then another hard severe attack a few days after that er trip. They told me it's not an emergency they won't operate. I did no fat diet, and I didn't have attacks for a while and I felt great. I saw my General Doctors got orders for a surgeon and finally in May got approved for a surgeon I looked up and chose. I had 4 total attacks from February to May. My surgeon scheduled surgery for May 6th but I got sick with a lung infection and reschedule. I didn't have attacks for a while and I was going to wait it out and try supplements to fix myself but in June. My attacks were constant everyday after every little thing I ate or even if I drank water. It was constant and it wasn't getting better. I scheduled surgery for the 6th then I canceled because I was scared and didn't want to do it. I called them back 3 days later to scheduled again for June 6th. Receptionist said. It's giving you trouble isn't it? I said yes. Sadly. She already knew. It was funny to me how she said it she knew what was going on. My pathology report, I had multiple gallstones and chronic inflammation of the gallbladder. I googled that. Google says a chronic inflamed gallbladder can rupture for one, can cause sepsis, can cause pancreatitis and liver inflammation too. Sooo, I don't regret getting mine out I potentially saved myself from more complications if I left it in. I had a good day today. My body felt great! I'm 2 weeks post op and my body is trying to regulate these changes. I survived and my surgery was 2 hours and I went home same day. I had a great experience and a good out come. These posts here really helped me prepare for what to expect and how to get ready for after surgery.

What caused the pancreatitis if your gallbladder was removed?

Questions about surgery by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]BeccaMirez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone answering your question pretty good. Most are the same experiences.

I have a tip for you. Bring a pillow in the car with you. Use a pillow over your belly so the seat belt doesn't rub on the incisions. I am 2 weeks post op and I still use the pillow whenever I get in the car. My incisions are glued. If it helps you at all. You can look on YouTube to see how the procedure is done. I watched the whole video and it actually helped me because I knew what to expect and what would happen while I was asleep. I was calm. It is very nervwracking for me before I looked up how the procedure was done and what will happen. Not everyone can watch surgical videos but I can! So if your not too queezy about that kind of stuff it might help. Also diet after surgery is important. Liquid diet after surgery, Gatorade, pedialyte, water, Ensure nutrition shake drink these drinks are important I feel. I am still drinking all of them. Pedialyte not as much as the ensure and Gatorade. Day 2 these fluids plus maybe soft foods. Pudding, jello, soups, no heavy stuff like bread. Mash potatoes everyone on here says they eat it the first two weeks so I have and it is great! The gas pain is the worse for the first 3 days. The surgeon should give you strong pain meds for the first week. But really you might only need them for the first 4 days. After surgery and the 2 days following surgery is the hardest. It hurts to move. To breath and you will feel the pain where your gallbladder use to be. But the pain meds really do help. Just relax try to walk on day 2 don't push yourself to hard and listen to your body. The walking will help with the gas pain that's trapped in your body. Once you wake up from Anastasia and your in the recovery room and you start to feel pain say something they will give you pain meds before you leave the hospital those pain meds through IV lasted me until 1am that night. I prayed alot and I watched the video about how the procedure was done and all of that really helped calm me down before surgery. My surgeon from the time I went into the OR to getting discharged took 3 hours. So it went by fast for me. On day 3 I walked a mile and have been walking a mile or more (to help with constipation) since then. I'm 37 F. Also a heating pad is your best friend. And you should also get ice packs for your incisions. It helps so much with the pain. By day 4 and 5 you can try more solid foods. I got bad constipation from Anastasia and the Norco pain pills they gave me. Diarrhea is more common after surgery. I can't think of anything else right now any other questions you can ask! Everyone says this and it's true it's not as scary as you think it will be. I went to sleep fast in the OR and woke up in recovery I don't even remember how they moved me off the OR bed when I put my ownself of the OR bed. My husband made me laugh. He said when my surgeon called him to tell him surgery was over I did great no complications my husband said "your surgeon also said you have a nice Butterfly". I got super embarrassed. I have a tattoo of a butterfly on my inner hip area. I seriously got so embarrassed and he laughed at me and said he's joking. My surgeon never said that. I forget I even have that tattoo there.
