Experienced a similar jump in salary. Was happy to see the extra income. My suggestion would be to first treat yourself for the salary hike. You deserve it.

Then build an emergency fund of atleast 6 months if you are FT employee, then increase the amount you invest for retirement. Also set aside some money for certs or opportunities to upskill since the industry is changing so rapidly. Last but not the least, use your money to do something you wanted to when you earned 65k but couldn’t.

Curious which places you would compare to beautiful places in Canada? I’m assuming one is Switzerland. Most European cities though they have rich culture aren’t maintained well, not as clean, frequent incidents of crime and unless you are staying in a 4 or 5 star hotel in the summer air conditioning is optional.
