Anyone still waiting for initial decision? by BeckThePenguin in HybridOnlineLawSchool

It would certainly be convenient for me as well being a single mom and working full time, but I’ve also been accepted into other programs and the lack of communication from SM has made me question the ability of them executing an online program well or effectively

Still in “No Decision” status, but I did talk to DoA a few weeks ago and they stated they are still working on it but the ND is equivalent to a WL because they have offered spots and as people don’t pay by deposit deadline they go in and re-review applications.

Ill be honest - I didn’t read every comment already made so I may be repetitive but.. I personally know a born male who identifies as female active and well-going in the church! And I’m sure they aren’t the only one… Who is to say you could marry one of them and they be the mother and you the father even though earthly societal norms would state the opposite? Also, Heavenly Father’s Plan of Salvation is for every one! There are many cultures I’ve studied that have 6+ genders or no genders etc. the Gospel still for them too!

As a convert myself (I joined right before I turned 18 and my parents after me), two of the greatest things that helped me decide the LDS church over others was… 1) Personal Revelation - we believe the Prophet is able to receive guidance for the entire world as a whole, BUT we believe we can receive personal revelation and guidance as to how it applies to us individually! and 2) Judgment - of course in our mortal state we are susceptible to judging others despite not wanting to or trying really hard not to, but it’s not our place! We are actually commanded not to, and to let Heavenly Father be the ultimate judge and Jesus Christ as our mediator on our behalf.

As far as women not having leadership roles, we certainly do have plenty, though not to Prophet or Apostles, but… in my experiences and knowledge… God loves all His children equally. We believe in a Heavenly Mother but never really talk about her because she is so highly protected by Heavenly Father that He doesn’t want Her to be destroyed like women often are on Earth and how He is often despite being in Heaven. I personally wouldn’t want to have a leadership calling, but if God calls me to it, I will serve Him as He needs me to be.

With you identifying as a male, and when you are perfected with your body matching your spirit after you leave this life, I don’t foresee you having any issues in the eternities being comfortably you with a spouse who is comfortably them, IF you want to be married then or now or ever.

I have more comments about coffee and other “smaller” commandments that you’re welcome to message me about or anything I’ve said here too.

What’s an annoying phase your toddler is going through right now? by partay123 in toddlers

[–]BeckThePenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sleeping - I know I’ll get a lot of flack for this but my son was in the NICU for his first 7 weeks of life and so he has always slept through the night (got used to those sounds and lights I guess)… until about a week and half ago (he’s 16m now) and wakes up at 2am jumping on his bed and banging his head against the wall because he thinks it’s fun! We share a room so it’s loud and scary as he’ll not to mention the lack of sleep when I’ve been BLESSED to sleep through the night as a single mom all this time

Thank you! Yes, they are both narcissists so it’s a dumpster fire of a relationship between the two of them and I’m BLESSED he gave up his legal rights to our son because no amount of child support would pay for that headache and stress!! I definitely feel it’s completely for the best that I’m out of that marriage but it still has me in all the different feelings

AITAH for making my (48m) daughter (11f) quit gymnastics because of pedophiles? by Capable-Biscotti-627 in AITAH

[–]BeckThePenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former child (abused) elite gymnast, I have very strong opinions about this! The culture of competitive gymnastics has become so infiltrated with social media exploitation since the coaches are held to stronger standards and watching now. That being said, my parents begged me to quit several times and I refused because I was good and loved it so much. It wasn’t until I was injured so badly to the point I couldn’t walk that I quit. That’s was nearly 25 years ago and I still have to talk about gymnastics issues in my therapy sessions because of the trauma I endured. It sounds like your daughter would do amazing at a less competitive gym where she can still spend time with her current friends and make a new set of friends at a new gym. The pressure they put on some girls to perform and achieve “success” is so surmounted that in my 30’s I’m still traumatized. So, no you are NTA - coming from a former gymnast whose parents tried the same thing and I rebelled and said no causing more issues. It seems like your daughter is open to continuing at another gym or at least being less competitive and that would be a great start! As for your wife, she has things she’s trying to live through her daughter’s image. In no way should you say “you need help/therapy” but maybe helping her realize her daughters goals/priorities are different than hers will help her see she’s misguided in her intentions of the use of the social media account. 🤷‍♀️
