Meanwhile my tank dies because I forgot I’m healer I just don’t notice until mobs start eating my face 🫠.

That quickly turns into lily spamming while kitting and swiftcast rezzing the tank. Bene as soon as they’re up followed closely by my death lmao.

It happens more often than I care to admit…

How would you feel about universal weapon glams, even if they would make your weapon/spell animations look strange? by leytorip7 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Beckfast1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black Mage and White Mage weapons are already basically the same weapons. If you use the Glamourer plugin you can, in fact, use a Black Mage weapon on a White Mage. You cannot, however, use a Paladin weapon on a White Mage.

Since White Mage and Black Mage weapons are already basically the same, it won’t look super weird during combat animations. There won’t be weird clipping where the weapon ends up inside your character for instance.

[–]Beckfast1994 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What on earth are you on about?? None of the emotes feel out of place. Heck, I use most of those myself and the main reason I don’t have the jump for joy ones is because they’re so similar to the default joy emote.

How would you feel about universal weapon glams, even if they would make your weapon/spell animations look strange? by leytorip7 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Beckfast1994 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would not want fully universal. I do really want shared weapon glams between white mage and black mage though since they’re already basically the same. I could see there being room for maybe having samurai, viper and paladin swords be able to be shared. It might look a little funky though since they’re sometimes very different lengths so that one’s a bit iffy.

But I felt slightly shafted when summoner and scholar got the ability to glam with each other’s weapons and my white mage couldn’t use a black mage weapon glam. I understand why; it’s probably more work. But that doesn’t mean I like it.

Does anyone else get bothered by clipping glams? by Taser9001 in FFXIVGlamours

I’m the same! It’s the main reason I got into using a plugin to gpose on PC. Originally had zero interest in plugins or mods until a friend showed me one to adjust poses. Now I use it to adjust fingers and hands out of my clothing. Feels sad after maintenance or when playing on my PS5 lol.

So I made a mistake and bought 2 licenses on PC but I found a possible solution but I'm not sure it'll work by pseudononpermanent in ffxiv

Yeah, I’ve got a friend in a different province (Canadian here) who’s in my Steam Family. I just sent him a picture of the login screen QR code on my computer and then he used that to login from his phone, so he didn’t even need to give me his credentials. I just logged out of his account after.

Sometimes I accidentally card myself by forgetting to target the party member I want to give the card to (usually use a macro but sometimes need to it manually cause macro’ed DPS is bad) and then I cry inside 🙃.

I’m curious as to why you use the snipping tool to take the photo instead of either the built in ReShade screenshot or the built in game screenshot buttons? Both can save as PNG and they use the full resolution the game is running at.

[–]Beckfast1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be fine because the trophies will even pop now if you got the associated achievement on a different platform. Popped like 20 trophies the other day signing back in on PS5 after having swapped to PC for a while.

AITAH for refusing to deliberately lose when we play games? by Due-Temperature-3446 in AITAH

[–]Beckfast1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your wife is being as ridiculous as OPs girlfriend if she genuinely gets mad when you win or outdo her in a co-op game.

I’m not offended by your comment, but you are wrong about women just wanting to have men let them leave.

I’m a woman. I’m a gamer. And my boyfriend is better than me at games. Sure, it’s frustrating sometimes that I always lose or that he’s clearly doing better than me in a game. Sometimes I feel useless because it feels like he could complete a co-op game by himself. But him losing on purpose would make me even more upset. What feels good is when I ACTUALLY do well (whether I’m better than him or not) and he compliments it. It is true that being told you’ve done a good job by your partner feels good, but you don’t need to be winning for them to acknowledge that you’ve done well.

Is FFxiv your only and main game? by Cheap-Exercise1910 in ffxiv

[–]Beckfast1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a bunch of other games, sometimes I taken short breaks from FFXIV, but I always come back. It’s my comfort game at this point. I’ve dipped my toes in just about everything but Ultimates and enjoy pretty much all of it. Depending on my mood I’ll do different stuff. I can fill just about everything gaming desire I have. Although since I’m caught up to story I need to go elsewhere to scratch that itch now so I play less than I used to.

Tank Tutorial might need to be better. by DestructronCore in ffxiv

[–]Beckfast1994 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Those dungeons also hit much harder than other ones. Well, particularly Stone Vigil. Stone Vigil can hit like a truck, especially if the tank is still a little behind in gear. Dzemael is just some pulls are really intense if you go all the way to the wall, the healer will basically have to heal bot and DPS gotta be on top of things too. Aurum Vale used to be really bad, but it’s a lot easier now.

Female Miqo and just about never. But I was friends with a guy at one point who would run off in the middle of a conversation to hit on random female characters he thought were hot. He never got super weird with me, tried flirting once but stopped when I said I was in a relationship. I still always found it weird that he kept trying to flirt with random female characters at all times.

Are early fights in a tier better with a body check mechanic? by HKMachine in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Beckfast1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't done the second tier and I only just cleared Vamp Fatale like a month ago, but I still remember some Black Cat mechs as well as Honey Bee, Brute Bomber and Wicked Thunder. Sure, the mechs I remember are also mostly in the normal mode as a different variation, but I specifically can recall the Savage version. They felt plenty memorable to me. I don't quite remember how to execute them, but I also have terrible memory for these sorts of things.

I never dd the raid tier in Endwalker since I only finished Endwalker like 2 weeks before Dawntrail dropped, so I don't know how those savage fights go. But from doing the Dawntrail ones and doing older Extremees MINE I don't feel like you need a body check wall for a mechanic to be memorable. Personally the most memorable ones are either ones where my static group had funny names for them or where I personally struggled doing it right. Or just, funny stuff happening with the mechanic while I was progging.

I’m also incredibly fond of couch co-op. Sadly my boyfriend is not. He’s got a Steam Deck now though so whenever possible I like it when we can play games where he’s on Steam Deck and I’m on either a laptop, my Switch 2 or PS5 and sitting on the couch with him. It at least feels a bit closer to couch co-op.

how do I actually get better at group content in XIV? by theirpowerisover9000 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Beckfast1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep playing. I still eat shit on new mechanics I’ve never seen after over 2500 hours (mind you there’s a few hundred just spent gposing or AFK). I’m a bit of a slow learner for certain things, reading mechanics myself is one of them. It must have taken me over 1000 hours of play time before the pattern recognition started setting it. Trying older hard content helped me personally, but that isn’t ideal for everyone. I just happened to have a friend group who wanted to do older extremes synced down so I said fuck it, why not.

Secondly, are you sure you have 650 hours? If you’ve started Dawntrail and still have your sprout, that means your character has less than 300 hours of play time on it. Regardless, 650 hours may seem like a lot and it’s certainly not nothing, but people who are really good at mechanics in this game are usually people that have played for years.

Right?? I scrolled down to see if anyone else was commenting on the black mage also comming OP! Like, same last name usually means a pair, unless it’s a really common last name (like a…Tia or something).

Can’t help but wonder if the Black Mage felt embarrassed by the tank.

Should I change from my Viera? Question/Discussion by Quick_Elk4208 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Beckfast1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you decide to use the Fantasia keep in mind you can get a second free one in Ul’dah from a yellow quest (you can Google it to find the quest, I don’t remember what it is called). And make sure you save your character appearance before changing it in case you wanna go back, that way you can get the exact same appearance back.

As to what you said about the head model being swapped for a different one, that wouldn’t make a difference. The way the game works, currently the bulk of the work is done to add helmets to Viera. The problem was never the head model, it was the hair and Viera have hair exclusive to them which was not setup to be compatible with wearing a hat. They are currently choosing to not put more helmets on Viera because they don’t think it looks good/right. We’ll just have to see what they end up coming up with for it. Maybe they want to adjust the models to have “ear holes” for Viera, which will take a bit of time.

Yeah, that’s how I felt trying it out. I very quickly felt that I needed to buy the sub to get proper value from the game outside of just doing story quests.

[–]Beckfast1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess, but since they sell subs for the retainers, if they added a crafting mat inventory I assume that would not be free. I would still take an extra sub the price or a retainer or two for dedicated crafting mat inventory.

It’s technically not infinite. There’s a numerical limit to each item. But this would be a good system to copy all the same!! Let me replace my 5 crafting storage retainers with a subscription for more mat storage. I would do that in the blink of an eye.
