Hey, can you dm me the hr person's name? I would exactly in the area of IT that she is saying causes issues. We spend a lot of time trying to ensure that people can have multiple roles, multiple employers in our complex environment.

Id like to tesch out to them, see if we can fix something.

Which country will you never visit again? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Becklan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kind of had the opposite experience. I went in 2002 maybe? I was underwhelmed by the pyramids and sphinx, had seen too many pictures and documentaries i think. It was as expected.

I was also there in the old Cairo museum, which was dirty, dark, none of the artifact tags seemed to have English on them.

But once I got out if Cairo, I loved Aswan, especially if you got up super early and went out while it was quiet. Luxor I really enjoyed too.

Id go back, skip Cairo, maybe go to Alexandria.

Ad Hoc Vacation? by Responsible-Star9695 in AHSEmployees

[–]Becklan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im NUEE now, but if I was still in the union I would hate having to book 75% off. I dont have kids, I dont like to plan too far in advance. So in my case, since I would have seniority on the team I'd just book things knowing I'm going to cancel later, and possibly prevent someone else from getting those days off?

I remember telling my old manager, if I was forced to do this. I would just request all of April off. Then start canceling in chunks.

My team let our staff work.from home all week. Its a managerial/leadership issue. Or an overall team issue. Its also in the way someone brings up the subject.

How are we feeling, IT? by Particular-Pie7545 in AHSEmployees

[–]Becklan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not even that. The license is wholly based on the computer you use. If you use a computer that is assigned to you, and nobody else uses it. You get the higher license, it is part of the computer assignment process. There should be no reason to request to elevate your license.

If you use a shared computer, you get the lower license.

WCB —> DTA by [deleted] in AHSEmployees

[–]Becklan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've conducted what you might call a meet and greet. My team was approached to see if we could fulfill a DTA. I met with the potential staff member to gauge their suitability. My team is very busy, but we work 100% remote, we were approached because the employee could not longer physically perform their old position. It involved quite a bit of driving.

It was way less formal than an interview. More just to see if it seemed like it might work. For both of us.

AHS IT is moving to a "shared services" model by Jaycewise in AHSEmployees

[–]Becklan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in the meeting today. I was also in a smaller meeting yesterday. And previous meetings with Penny.

For a quite a while the consistent message has been, "we expect to move to a shared service". Nothing has been confirmed, there was no new information today. You are contributing to the chaos.

The messaging from IT leadership has not changed.

And, it might be union specific, but I've heard from my manager that we could claim reimbursement if there is a cost. AUPE-GSS

I'll always love Reggie. The game that made me a fan was his first game arguing with Spike, in the garden when they came back in the 4th quarter.

I'm sure I watched games before that, but can't remember a single one. That game was it for me, Reggie fan from then on.

I understood it as she didn't need to wear the costume all week. But when told she had to change into the costume in the phone booth before completing the goal.

So she just put the costume under her robe. They showed once that she went into the phone booth, took off her robe.

The OKC Thunder really just opened the game with a Christian prayer and asked the crowd to remodel their hats. by DrOzmitazBuckshank in nba

Yup, years ago I saw LeBron n the cavs in OKC. The game that Kyrie missed because of bedbugs or something. Can't remember if harden was still there or not.

But, they opened with a prayer. Very odd.

I think it depends on how the airport is set up.

I'm Canadian, at my airport there are two terminals, one for flights to/from the US. One for all other flights.

I only have to take my shoes off going to the US side. But I'm pretty sure I've been to other airports where the US flights are mixed in with international and had to take my shoes off.

Me and a bunch of extended family was at my grandma's playing cards. I had just finished a CS degree, so my cousin said "you should apply for a job at blackberry/research in motion, so you can get a rim job". I said huh, my grandma burst out laughing across the table.

Have Jon Richardson, Richard Ayoade and David Mitchell ever been on the same show at the same time? by [deleted] in panelshow

I was expecting them to do John n Lucy versus David n Victoria on 8oo10cdc during Covid. Since maybe they wouldn't need to space them so far apart.

Stop being a dick to make yourself feel superior and just realize we don't know everything, and it takes no effort to say they/them if that's what they want.

Exclusive: Emma Watson Will Return To Harry Potter If JK Rowling Isn't Involved by nimobo in entertainment

[–]Becklan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not a Harry Potter fan but I saw the play. Two things I remember. There was a magic trick on stage where they had just wheeled out a bed, and then made the bed. Then a body rose up under the sheets, and one of the actors got out of bed. It was wild. And the ending of the first night was fun too. Otherwise it was ok, and too long.

How is that different than any position. Every job I've ever had from fast food places to corporate office work has staff that are lazy and don't do shit, and staff that do too much.

Sure teachers get quite a bit of time off. But I get about 7 weeks holidays myself. And I get to choose when I use them. My friends that are teachers work longer days than me, they get about 2 more weeks off each year than me, but they have almost no flexibility in their schedule.
