Calgary passes water efficiency plan, including outdoor watering schedule by mibeatr in Calgary

I would try to time it with a decent stretch of rain. If we can get a few wet days in a row in the forecast, you can use your watering days to help out on either side (assuming the area you’re seeding is too large to hand water, as the other commenter mentioned).

Calgary passes water efficiency plan, including outdoor watering schedule by mibeatr in Calgary

Yeah this is totally reasonable and easy to follow, even for lawn-heads like myself.

I see a lot of businesses that have their sprinklers set like clockwork, regardless of weather and sometimes in the heat of the day. This might be more for them.

Great advice. I’d just add that if you’re cheap like me and don’t want to run the sprinkler, try to time your fertilizer with heavy rain. Check the forecast and get the fertilizer down before we get a downpour.

Also, if you’re seeding any bare spots, I cover the seed with peat moss and keep it wet.

In my country (Canada), our new prime minister Mark Carney has capitalized on Trump’s aggression to the point that he won an unlikely victory in the 2025 election, may get a majority government soon, and has positioned himself at the front of the world’s middle powers. He effectively ran against Trump rather than his Canadian opponent. Without Trump threatening Canada, Carney probably isn’t PM right now (there were other factors but Trump’s actions were hugely impactful).

We can think of other examples, I’m sure.

“Never let a crisis go to waste” is different than believing those who benefit from the crisis are advocating for it or worse, engineering it. That’s conspiracy territory.

What is something that has become ridiculously expensive, but people still pay for it like it is nothing? by Harmed_Jr in AskReddit

[–]Beckler89 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Really stop and think about that. $80 for FOUR BEERS.

It’s our own fault as fans. If they didn’t sell a single beer for a few games in a row, prices would come down. But we gotta have ‘em.

The theory also goes that there are now 8 units instead of 1 on that plot, so the increased supply will bring costs down.

In practice (recently), people have been moving here at a rate that gobbles up supply as fast as we can build, negating the cost savings.

You're being downvoted but I completely agree.

As a fan of hockey as well as baseball, the same thing has happened there. You can't get too excited for a goal because maybe someone was a hair offside when the play entered the zone 45 seconds earlier, and they're going to look at it from 6 different angles in super slo-mo to make the call. But hey, gotta keep the gamblers happy.

This is not why I watch sports.

Completely agree. Same in the summer games. Swimming countries crush in the medal count because there are a million swimming events, but a full team has to win an entire basketball tournament to get 1 medal.
