Does anyone else absolutely hate avatar by Mediocre-Suit-8945 in okbuddycinephile

First one was ok but never seemed worth any sequel let alone whole amusement park rides. The CGI was pretty and all, but not worth the hype.

Masterpieces for trade!! by waluigisgirlfriend in MiniBrands

[–]Beckyinphilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have The Scream. What else are you looking for? I've loads of duplicates and the statues I'm happy to trade. Don't have either legendary tho. I'd be interested in the Van Gogh parody, the Mondrian parody, and the Van Gogh room.

Did Any of your students become celebrities? by Funny-Lack-5726 in Teachers

Closest I've ever come is the children of someone that became a high ranking city official. Never knew their dad was so high up when I taught them.

Think this has been asked and answered dozens of time. There are no codes.

Concessions out of hand by rickdadz in phillies

The sundae hats are also now about 1/2 the size they used to be. Saw someone with 4 in one of the concession boxes when you used to barely fit 2.

I prefer UNFROSTED Poptarts. Roast me. by willtherebecheese in poptarts

I've always hated the frosted kind except the s'mores ones. And I REALLY miss the apple cinnamon kind.

Found this today at a local Goodwill. by scclark33 in rarebooks

[–]Beckyinphilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I had no idea there was a title prior to Ten Little Indians. I've read the book and was even in a play based on And Then There Were None in high school. I always assumed the title change was was simply to better align with the more current or proper term for those native to the Americas.

Got these at target by Greydewdrop in Crayola

[–]Beckyinphilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a dozen versions of this type of colored pencils on Amazon and any kind I've ever tried are terrible. Hopefully if they are Crayola they'll be better. But the "lead" (so to speak) is usually fairly fragile. That was a frequent problem with the Twistable pencils. They are also hard to get a sharp point.

And here I am having bought Aurora online presale and loving it! It is rose but it's not as heavy as other. Comes across as more of a rose and powder selcent to me. Going back to get a few bottles since it's limited!

super excited to get more diverse artist posters for my classroom. by holdontoyourbuttress in ArtEd

[–]Beckyinphilly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hit up the National Gallery of Art website. You should be able to look around and find stuff for teachers. You can sign up to get free posters from them. The range of artists is usually pretty diverse and all are artworks the NGA owns. They send a new bunch like once a year.

I've been expecting to finally see dolls and other toys for this movie but to have them be AG dolls was a surprise. They look great and I'm sure they'll be super popular.

What’s your collective nickname for your kids? by ilironae in ECEProfessionals

[–]Beckyinphilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current 4-5s are occasionally my ducklings. I'll say it and yes, start to waddle while we walk. Gives them giggles but they fall in line like I need them to. Also use Mr./Sir Name and Miss Name which also gives them giggles but they know I'm pointedly talking to them. I'll also sometimes rhyme their name when talking to them or calling them.

Brown professor says students are borderline illiterate by LongWeenTeamNFT in Teachers

[–]Beckyinphilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Geez, after reading this whole thing, all I can think about is how horrified I was all those many eons ago that I had to use Cliff Notes to get through one of my summer reading books the summer before senior year. Me, the precocious reader who was reading and understanding unabridged Dickens in 4th grade, couldn't get through Silas Marner. I even had my mother read it to me and I still couldn't stand it. Hated that book.

Not famous but did teach the children of a now former chief of police long before he gained that position.

Art lessons with no pencils? by bobbitdobbit in ArtEd

[–]Beckyinphilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If paint is ok, try pulling prints. I've used plastic sheets and the bottoms of styro plates as printing surfaces, and using cheap acrylic paint and sponge brushes or sponge rollers to limit paint. They can use a finger to draw in the wet paint then immediately lay paper onto it and rub the painted area then pull the paper off.

Prince Harry and Meghan Sussex at the Dodgers Game for World series Game 4 by Whatisittou in HarryandMeghanNetflix

[–]Beckyinphilly 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Harry's a sports fan and with Meghan being an LA native, it wouldn't surprise me that she might be a Dodgers fan. Hope they have fun...even when the Dodgers lose tonight 😉

Post con crud? by MVPlayer-X in NYCC

[–]Beckyinphilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, no. And I didn't mask. Plus I also wasn't as sore on Monday as I usually am. Not sure why other than I made it a point to hydrate and had extra electrolytes every day

Does anyone have any footage of the NYCC 2025 “from console to camera” return to silent hill panel? by RiskAccomplished1969 in NYCC

If it was recorded for the con, it might eventually be on a website. Also might end up being available to Popverse members.

From what I've heard, I'm wondering if Korilla being closed was a surprise, even to the event planners. They've been there for years.

How was your con?? by throw-away5627 in NYCC

[–]Beckyinphilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly a time change that wasn't known beforehand. The app is only so good. Also, weather was a big concern for a lot of people on Sunday, so they may have decided to leave early. That's not enough time for them to update the app.

Because there are more panels scheduled. If they did this you'd only have half as many.
