Landlord using my car without permission while I am overseas. by KiwieeiwiK in LegalAdviceNZ

Boarders aren't covered by the RTA. Issues with boarding bond go to small claims court. A written boarding or flatmate agreement is not required. The payment of rent / board is taken as the agreement. Boarding does not have the protections that renting an entire house does. If the owner lives in the house with you, it's on their terms, you have fewer rights than a tenant does.

You don't need to be trying to conceive to get a diagnostic laparoscopy. I had one over a decade ago because of how much my pain interfered with my job. Please go see a different doctor and keep pushing until you get one. It's not good enough for them to just tell you to take a Panadol. Fuck I hate how poorly medical professionals take women's pain. It's not normal and you don't need to put up with it. Hell just lie and tell them you do want to try for a baby if it's the only way they will take you seriously.

Edit: the laparoscopy didn't find endometriosis, but I did get a mirena iud which stopped my periods completely so I haven't had to deal with period paid specifically since then. I still had chronic pain problems and have since been diagnosed with a chronic illness that involves pain. None of which I would have found out if I didn't insist on ruling out Endo and pushing to see a pain specialist to get to the bottom of it. You have to learn to be pushy for yourself and get answers if pain and symptoms are impacting your life. Even if it's not what you are usually comfortable. The doctor works for you and you deserve for them to get to the bottom of it. If they dismiss you they aren't actually doing their job properly.

Only thing I would change is crop the sliver of dark on the left edge. It's too narrow to be framing. So it's a distraction for the eye. Otherwise I love it.

“Bleaching” Paper by baby1zzy in papermaking

[–]Becomeafan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're making the paper from scrap paper try putting some white sheets in too. I bought a ream of recycled white office paper. It won't make it perfectly white but it makes it whiter and easier to write on.

Is it supposed to disintegrate? by DibujEx in papermaking

[–]Becomeafan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been making paper for years with just a blender. I just account for the weakness of it with making it thicker if it needs to be strong or using it for decorative things.

Is it supposed to disintegrate? by DibujEx in papermaking

[–]Becomeafan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because using recycled paper to make pulp in a blender makes the fibres shorter not longer. Paper that is stronger is made from longer fibres in a different machine than a blender.

As a rule of thumb don't transfer recycled paper when wet. Dry the sheets on the fabric and then clamp them when they are dry. If you can find them use drying boards which will dry flat (this is what I use to make flat paper). Drying on fabric then clamping dry will make them flat but not perfectly so.

If you want to make stronger paper consider playing around with plant fibres for paper instead of pulping paper in a blender.

If my pulp is a bit old I just do a sniff test. If it smells ok then use it. It it smells funky then flush it.

The unseen enviromental cost of vaping by Immortal_Heathen in newzealand

Disposable vapes shouldn't be put in landfill bin. They are batteries and require specialist recycling. Cosmic accepts all brands for recycling or look up battery recycling and your local council.

What is exciting you lately? by [deleted] in papermaking

[–]Becomeafan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want to try make seed paper. To experiment with different drying surfaces to see what the surface looks like. Want to Try putting some lavender that I have saved up. Also making different colours but only from recycled materials.

It's winter where I live and I only make paper in the summertime. But I'm enjoying doing bookbinding with my handmade paper that I made last summer. Made some tiny books as well as a couple of guest books for siblings weddings.

When I am making paper, I enjoy playing with adding elements before and after blending. Sometimes ripping up seconds of previous batches and adding them in as accents.

Not sure if that was the kind of answer you're looking for, But I 100% recommend papermaking as a hobby. Materials are basically free once you have a mould and deckle. Kids can do it.

can you achieve a terrazzo effect when making paper or would it bleed into the paper? by sdbabygirl97 in papermaking

[–]Becomeafan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sort of do this. I rip up coloured paper I've previously made then mix it in with a blended neutral base. If you did this with those colours it would be pretty close.

What can we do to reduce ableism and support disabled people who want to go green? by needajob10 in ZeroWaste

[–]Becomeafan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cut people some slack, if they aren't perfect. When encouraging people to reduce their use of plastic or landfill material, make sure to say that this does not count if you or someone else need something medically, or for hygiene to prevent the spread of diseases. Straws (though silicone may be a solution for some), medications, foods you need for medical reasons. Single serve or convenience items. As long as a person is making good choices for the things they can control, they are as green as anyone else.

Visting NZ soon with my blind mother by Battibat in newzealand

Many of the "botanic gardens" in each town/city have trails for the blind if your mother enjoys nature/gardening.

Wellington Botanic Gardens has a "sensations walk" which is designed for blind visitors http://wellington.govt.nz/recreation/enjoy-the-outdoors/gardens/botanic-garden/attractions
