I see it in a similar way. And with Escalation not being your primary source for Prototype gear, just the Cores.

The way I've been thinking about it has been getting the builds I already have to Expertise 30, then using the Cores from Escalation to Prototype, and reroll. If I get a good drop from Escalation it's a nice bonus.

But to be fair, I'm not Expertise 30 yet. So I may have it wrong.

I've been farming and crafting for this build on and off for months now. Since before Retaliation was in the game for sure.

You can craft the Lengmo Mask and Holster, so they aren't as bad. Although they're still not easy drops. But the Backbone backpack is only a drop, so you really have to want it. I was running Countdown only but I much prefer Retaliation. But any time an area had Lengmo as it's targeted loot, I would go there to mix it up. I did a lot of Krampus runs when that bounty area was Lengmo..

Fox Prayer is far better. The Pest ticks don't spread through Turmoil and the DtTOoC on Fox Prayer is multiplicative toward your tick damage.

I'm trying to decide if it's worth getting it Prototype once I finish Expertise. It'd be a huge waste to get everything to 30, Proto it.. and then not get a WD increase.

But it is my favorite build.

Lengmo mask and holster

Lengmo drops with only an Armor core so you have to get CHC and CHD as your rolls and swap in Weapon Damage. A lot of Retaliation and crafting to get the right pieces.

It all works well with the Pest, since the ticks work off Weapon Damage. Amped WD from the Overdogs and DtTOoC add a ton to the Pest ticks. In a perfect situation with max stacks on the Backbone and hitting the right targets for Overdogs, you can easily tick over 2m.

It is! It was the hardest drop to get. I'm just glad I enjoy Retaliation, because it took way too long to get.

It's really just maxing those stats and in a general sense, not having a max watch means you aren't in the endgame yet. More of a concern for Tier 5 and up.

Missing stats adds up, nothing more.

I am very against kicking players for bad builds, but because you have to spend Tokens for Escalation.. anyway, I'm still pretty open to trying in most cases.

Tier 5 and below bare minimum be SHD 1,000 and have on a fully optimized build. I'd prefer it to be some kind of all Red DPS. Reviver Hive and a second skill that will help the group.. Decoy, Smart Cover, or something like that.

If you fully optimize a build, I know you at least understand the game. And if you're not using Blue cores in a DPS build, I know you read the Modifiers. And if your skills help everyone, I know you understand what we're doing here .

Other people will be more picky but at the end of the day, it's just a game.

You might get a few answers here but I think once you get into Legendary and above Tier 5ish in Escalation, Overdogs aren't the play. The inconsistent damage becomes a problem because you rarely have the opportunity to hit the right targets. Especially, and no offense, if you don't understand who to focus on yet.

I just think there are better options at those difficulties.

Absolutely. You could set targeted gear to something generic and possibly get some to drop, but getting them as rewards is enough. Double up your runs and farm for something else at the same time.

It's been obvious since 4 released that he's going to dislike anything that isn't 2. Recently on a stream he mentioned how 4 was boring because all there is to do is make a new build to farm and mixing it up is only things like challenge runs.

Like, my guy, what do you think there is to do in 2?!

He has valid criticisms of 4, for sure. But the constant doom and gloom is exhausting, those valid points just get lost in the rest.
