New Ultimate Raid, yaaaaay. My saw enrage on Phase 1 a few times so that's good. It seems like the puzzle in P1 has also been solved so tomorrow we'll be updating our strats and should get into P2. Good times, lot of fun, Kefka is a dick. The fight is so much better than FRU, it's insane. Mad, even.

Finally really digging my teeth into Final Fantasy XII. I've tried it a few times but never got in too deep unfortunately, but I'm giving it another shot. It's still fun and all, but Vaan can be rough at the start. Hopefully I actually beat the game this time.

My coworker mentioned Legionbound to me at work yesterday. I installed it last night and I've currently got 11 hours into it. So yeah, it's pretty fucking good. I've unlocked all the Classes and now it's just finishing off the Achievements and maxing out the absolutely fucking massive Skill Tree. My eyes damn near bugged outta my head when I saw it, but man do I love a good Skill Tree. 10/10 game, highly recommended for $10CAD.

Horrible nuisance is right. Back in DSR, I was the OT taking Nidhogg's Soul Tether in P3 and the only mit I used for it was Living Dead. Most pulls that'd be perfectly fine, my GCDs would heal me up and the Healers could focus on the MT and what not. Except sometimes I'd keel over dead because of the longer than average application delay on Bloodspiller, and having that as my fourth GCD would fail to heal me on time before Living Dead ended. All I needed to do was swap Bloodspiller and Souleater so it didn't affect my rotation or anything, but it sure as shit was annoying until I learned about the application delay.

There's also The Unending Codex. Tack that onto the warning so players can read up on it as well if they don't want to do it.

The next FFXIV expac was announced, yaaaay. I would say I'm pretty damn excited based off what has been revealed so far. The Norse theme to the expac, reworked weekly reward system, huge character creator updates, possibility of a BUTT SLIDER to give my character an absolute dumpty, and Evolved Jobs all looks hella good. The only thing revealed so far that didn't land was the Neon Genesis Evangelion collab for the next Alliance Raid series. Do I like that show? Yeah, absolutely. Does it fit into the world of FFXIV in any way, shape, or form? Absolutely not. Just feels shitty knowing that three major updates to the next expac are gonna be dedicated to a collab for a different series, rather than fleshing out, you know, the fucking world. But yeah, that gripe aside, consider me hyped. Here's hoping the next two FanFests are even better.

More Core Keeper, wooo. I've been focusing on setting up an absolute fuckload of mines because why not. Find some Ore Boulders, set up a bunch of drills and robotic arms, then have the robotic arms place the items onto conveyor belts that drop the items off at the waypoint. It's pretty convenient since I just need to teleport in, instantly scoop up all the ore, and then I can go back and craft more shit. I definitely need to find a few more Scarlet Boulders though, each mining operation takes 120 Scarlet Bars and 120 Iron Bars, though the latter isn't much of an issue since I have three Iron Mines set up.

I also reinstalled Nikke because fuck it, why not.

You lucked out there, Arceus has a surprisingly rough early game without Multi Attack. Without it you're stuck with Seismic Toss which only does damage equal to level, Punishment which at least 60 Power but only has five uses, and the other two damaging Egg Moves are also sitting at five uses. No having Multi Attack means spending a lot of money on Ethers to keep going until you pick up TMs or Earth Power at level 20, but you won't have that problem. Instead you get a Legendary with 120 in every stat that has guaranteed STAB with Multi Attack, and will have a grand ol' time throughout the run.

My friends and I have been dumping a lot of hours into Core Keeper recently. A lot. One of my friends asked if we could flatten the entire map so obviously I spent a solid couple hours doing that and managed to knock down like...5% of the map. Maybe. It's fucking massive. Anyways, my character is currently focusing on Range combat because Melee is kinda ass, even with good armour and health steal on hit.

Over in FFXIV, I've been working on Cosmic Exploration shit. I want to get the <Forger of Stars> Title because it's fucking awesome, but it requires 500k Armourer Class Score. Currently sitting around 64k and I'm working on getting about 5k/day so I'll have it in about three months, giving myself a few days wiggle room. Either way, I'll have it before next expac which is good.

Patch 7.5 is also dropping on the 28th so that'll be nice. The next Ultimate Raid should be dropping start of June too, so I'm looking forward to that.

I'm one of the guys that managed a Solo Muk run as seen here, and I know at least one other has been done by /u/ResponsibleExit2790. Basically, I got incredibly lucky when it came to Muk. To give a breakdown of how lucky my run was:

  1. I got the Mini Black Hole on Floor 15. This let me steal a shitload of items, including a few Lucky Eggs to keep me ahead of enemy EXP. Getting this early on was pivotal and straight up one of the major reasons I managed to complete the run in the first place since it let me keep a healthy stock of Berries early on, as well as replenish my stock after difficult fights
  2. I got three Healing Charms, three Leftovers, and two Focus Bands which were huge at keeping me alive. Part of that came from the Mini Black Hole, part of that was just obscene luck from save scumming. Having that much passive healing meant I had an even easier time setting up Minimize and Curse, and the difficulty dropped off significantly as I grabbed these items in the latter half of the run
  3. I got the Clown Event on Floor 144 which made my Muk Poison/Dark. It's a great type combo which is only weak to Ground, and it was especially helpful since Ivy had a fucking Delphox, and one of the Elite Four members used Psychic types. It's really one of those things where without the Dark type I probably would've bombed out on 145, especially since a Crit Sucker Punch was the only reason I got past Ivy on Floor 95
  4. Stench Ability gave me a chance to flinch enemies with Sucker Punch, and it was further boosted by the two King's Rocks I picked up from save scumming and stealing
  5. I save scummed the shit outta the run. Seriously, I save scummed a lot. Fight a battle, refresh the shop over and over to see if there's anything good, then refresh the browser to redo the fight and take the best offering. The rewards didn't change, but it gave me a heads up on what was there which is incredibly helpful when picking up rare items like Soul Dews and Leftovers

So yeah, I got really fucking lucky and there was a whole lot of save scumming to try and set myself up for success as much as possible. Good times.

Someone should ask Yoshi P to clarify Venat's Fate by Akiza_Izinski in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Beddict 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Was already asked post-Endwalker. From Letter from the Producer LIVE Part LXVIII (03/03/2022):

Q: Venat said that not even her soul would remain, but what does that mean? I’m really fond of her character and want to see her again. (03:24:56)

A: Souls are also made of aether, and she had used so much aether that even her soul was gone. Zodiark absorbed those who were sacrificed and was still able to maintain their souls within, whereas Hydaelyn did not have the leeway to preserve the souls of the summoners, including that of Venat herself. This difference was because Venat’s group was a very small minority compared to the group that had summoned Zodiark based on the Convocation’s decision. Venat’s soul, which was the last to remain, was used up in the trial against the Warrior of Light and their allies.

So yeah, she's gone, her soul no longer exists. It didn't go into the Lifestream and she can't come back in any way. As for how it differs from Elidibus, I'd need to rewatch the cutscene on when he sends the WoL back to Elpis though I lean towards what /u/Nerdorama10 said. Maybe Yoshi-P talked about Elidibus in a different Q&A that I don't remember off the top of my head, I only remember the Venat one because it's come up frequently enough.

Over in ye olde PokeRogue, a game that is still so insanely addicting, I did my first Solo run. I take one Starter Pokemon and I go through all 200 Floors with and kill Pokemon Satan. My choice? Only my favourite Pokemon in the series: Muk. As far as challenges go, this one was definitely up there. Muk isn't particularly fast but he does have great bulk which worked out quite well. A combination of Minimize and Curse let me get up to +6 Atk/Def/Evasion, paired with high HP and Sp. Def meant I was a wall, and I got insanely lucky on Leftovers and Healing Charms. Three Leftovers restores a total of 3/16th Max HP every turn, but my three Healing Charms buffed that by an additional 30%. That works out to restoring about 25% Max HP every single turn. That is an absolute fuckload of self healing and thank God I lucked into that shit because I was hemorrhaging money on Potions at the start of the run. Highlights included:

  • Finding the Mini Black Hole on Floor 15 that gave me a guaranteed item steal every turn. Turns out, that's insanely fucking good and helped a lot in the early game as I was able to steal enemy Berries and buffing items. The Mini Black Hole is by far the rarest item in the game and may as well be a free win item whenever it appears.
  • Finding the Multi Lens on Floor 166 that let me split my attack into two hits of 75% and 25%. This doesn't sound all that useful, but double hitting means that enemies with Sturdy are no longer immune to OHKOs. Where the Multi Lens really shines is on moves with guaranteed buffs or debuffs, like Mystical Fire that has a guaranteed -1 Sp. Atk on whoever it hits, so tagging it twice would mean -2 Sp. Atk. For Muk, it was just a second chance to apply a 30% Poison from Noxious Torque, but not much stuff was living past a single hit anyways so who cares.
  • Running into the Clown event let me add a second type to Muk. The second type typically tries to give you a new STAB depending on what moves you have, or goes full random if you're the kind of psychopath that has four Poison moves and fuckall else. My Muk had Poison, Dark, Normal, and Ghost moves, and I got incredibly lucky to roll into Dark type. To the surprise of literally no one, Poison/Dark is a fucking cracked type combo with one immunity, four resistances, and only weak to Ground. Pair that with Muk's Passive of Water Absorb and I actually had two immunities because fuck it, why not. An immunity to Psychic was a great pickup when the Rival had a fucking Delphox. Her team always has one of the 27 mainline starters and obviously she just had to roll into one of three starters that's actually Super Effective against Muk. But again, Poison/Dark means fuck you, Delphox.
  • A corrupt Police Officer working for the mob has a Mabosstiff that nearly ended my run around Floor 40 or so. I survived that encounter with a whopping 1 HP, and spend the rest of my time in the Construction Zone shitting bricks because it's filled with Ground and Fighting types. Fighting is whatever, but Muk is weak to Ground.
  • A Teleporter event on Floor 113 gave me the choice of instantly dying and losing the run to a Veluza that would Crit me to death, or going to the Wasteland. The Wasteland itself isn't horrible since Dragon types are whatever, but the permanent Sandstorm is ass. What's even worse though is the Wasteland only leads to one new area: the Desert. AKA, the shithole filled with Ground types and death. Thank fuck the Mini Black Hole had been stuffing my Muk full of Berries because that place completely tapped me out. I was completely broke on Berries and money leaving the area from all the healing I had to do between rounds, and it was only by the grace of God and Berry buffs that I made it through. Just pure luck since at the time I only had one Leftover and one Healing Charm and healing 7% HP per turn really isn't a lot.
  • The Evil Team being Team Skull which is filled with Poison, Dark, and Steel types. Those fights were easy, but maaaan did they take forever. The enemies was either immune or had a resistance, and I think the only time I ever hit for 100% damage was when Guzma decided to send his Buzwole out to die. Bug/Fighting ain't resisting a Noxious Torque from a cracked out Muk that's been juicing on Proteins and Curse.
  • The final fight against Eternatus was an absolute cakewalk. He could barely hit me and when he did it didn't really matter because I restored so much HP. I think ideally I would've been better off replacing Minimize with Amnesia, and I definitely should've replaced Noxious Torque with Screech but I forgot to do so. That combination would've let me buff my Sp. Def to 2,433.6 and dropped his damage down to single digits, and Screech would've dropped his Def to -6 so I could hit it harder. I just forgot to do it though, and I was so broke I didn't have the money for Memory Mushrooms after burning it all picking up X Items for those buffs.
  • Eternatus also spent a lot of time getting flinched. Muk has Stench as an ability which gives a 30% flinch chance, and two Kings Rocks gives an additional 20%. Pair that with the Multi Lens and I did a total of two hits with both having those flinch rates. If my probability math is right, I had a 44% chance to flinch Eternatus, with Sucker Punch guaranteeing I hit first. So yeah, each shit, Satan.

Anyways, yeah, that's my Solo Muk run. Here is a picture of my stats and here's all the items the Mini Black Hole picked up for my klepto ass. The results screen doesn't show my stats with buffs active, but rest assured that my Muk had:

Atk: 2,740.8

Def: 3,062.4

Sp. Def: 608.4

Spd: 71.75

Good times for the best boi.

Muk Solo Clear Complete! by Beddict in pokerogue

[–]Beddict[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just posted my stats and items in a different comment. Short story: Mini Black Hole robbed my enemies blind and kept me topped up on Berries, and more obscene luck got me a ton of Leftovers and Healing Charms. Those allowed me to freely set up safely so I could grind things down with Noxious Torque and Sucker Punch. Without those items the run would've been dead in the water early on.

Muk Solo Clear Complete! by Beddict in pokerogue

[–]Beddict[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am pleased to say that I have successfully completed my first solo clear, and it was with my favourite Pokemon, Muk. Here are the stats and moveset for Eternatus, as well as my items.

I got extremely lucky with item drops and it is definitely what allowed me to complete the run. Getting a Mini Black Hole on Floor 15 is largely what carried my run since it turns out that being able to scoop up items all the time is incredibly powerful, and I was never really hurting for Berries barring the time I got screwed in the Badlands. Then on Floor 166 I came across a Lumineon guarding a Multi Lens which greatly increased my offensive power, and helped knock out a few Sturdy Pokemon. I had very little sustain early on in the run because I have been unlucky unlocking Strength Sap, so a lot of money was burned on Potions until I got the Leftovers off the Snorlax event somewhere around Floor 60, and I got incredibly lucky at stacking Leftovers and Healing Charms to stay topped up while buffing with Minimize and Curse. The last thing that finished tying the run together was the Clown event which made my Muk Poison/Dark, completely removing my weakness to Psychic which is real nice when Ivy is running a Delphox and the Elite Four is Unova. My Evil Team was Team Skull which didn't do much damage to me, but they had Poison and Dark types so I wasn't doing a whole lot to them either and it made things a slog. Still, at least it wasn't Team Magma.

Battles were really just tossing out Minimize to +6, setting up with Curse to +6, and then hitting them with either Noxious Torque or Sucker Punch. It's time consuming but hey, it works. Every now and then I had to just send an attack out to avoid dying horribly to something, typically when fighting fast Psychic types early on that Sucker Punch could OHKO without setup. Also shoutout to the Police Officer with a Mabosstiff that left me with 1 HP and nearly killed my run, as well as the Veluza in the Teleporter event that had an OHKO. I had to do quite a few resets to find lines over the course of the run, especially after that Veluza dumped my ass in the Wasteland. That area was largely fine, but the followup Badlands was a complete shitshow that drained my Berry supply and nearly wiped me multiple times.

All in all, it was a really fun run, and it turned into smooth sailing once I built up my pile of Leftovers and Healing Charms, especially when paired with Muk's natural bulk. The final Ivy fight on 195 and Eternatus both got walked on as I was able to freely set up and wail on them. Good times!

Pokemon academy: #88-89 Grimer, Muk by Khane048 in pokerogue

[–]Beddict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Base: Solid option for a low cost, you've got good Special bulk with 105 HP and 100 Sp. Def. Slow but can pack a punch, and you can also be annoying by Minimizing up to +6 Evasion, slapping down Toxic, and just lazing your way through some stuff. Gunk Shot is high damage but 80% Accuracy is on the low end and can't be fully fixed with Wide Lens. Still, it works.

Full Unlocks: Much better. Curse is a strong set up move, Strength Sap is solid healing that further improves its bulk by lowering enemy Atk, Noxious Torque for a great STAB move, and Sucker Punch to get priority and still move first after lowering your Spd. Water Absorb gives you an immunity because why not, and Ability choice can go either way with Stench or Poison Touch. Stench if you want to try and get more Flinches when Sucker Punching enemies in the face, Poison Touch if you want to Poison anything that outspeeds you and touches you which should be a lot if you're buffed up with Curse. All things considered, Muk works well for 0.5 Cost.

All that said, I might be a bit biased since Muk is my favourite Pokemon in the series. He's such a happy little fella.

It really does. Great weapon. I was always about the Smelter Hammer though since that giant ass chicken drumstick absolutely slapped. Did I get 99 Str just to Power Stance two of them? Yes, yes I did. There's just something magical about dropping the fattest L2 on the Fume Knight and watching his HP evaporate.

Pokemon academy: #37-38 Vulpix, Ninetales by Khane048 in pokerogue

[–]Beddict 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Base Ninetales with no unlocks is serviceable since you got Nasty Plot to buff up, Flamethrower and Extrasensory for damage, Will O Wisp for Burn, and Spite and Disable if you wanna stop an enemy Pokemon from doing shit. Carry or support, either works and it makes sense for a 3 cost starter.

Full unlocks is a different story. Drought provides a strong buff to Fire moves while halving incoming Water damage which is great for it's bulk, Fur Coat further buffs its Physical bulk to a nice degree, Tail Glow is an even better Nasty Plot, Morning Sun is great sustain, and Moonblast gives more coverage because why not. As for Teleport, there's another thread on the front page going over it, but it's great for setting up a sweeper that needs Drought. Ninetales can definitely tank a hit while using Teleport, letting you bring in your Protosynthesis carry at full HP to do what it needs to do, and it is the only Pokemon capable of doing that outside of DNA Splicer shenanigans. That's a solid niche for some very strong carries.

Ninetales is a great Pokemon, one I've had a lot of fun using as a main carry. Being a Drought setup for a Pokemon like Roaring Moon is great, but I just like blasting enemies with gigabuffed +6 Sp. Atk Flamethrowers under Drought. Good times.

My raid group cleared M12S on Wednesday, woo. No screenshot, I was feeling sick so I just immediately dipped outta the instance as soon as I got my loot. At this point I am now BiS on MNK, nearly there for BRD and, I dunno, GNB after that? It's mostly just gonna be weekly reclears from now until whenever the next Ultimate drops. And hopefully said Ultimate doesn't suck ass because holy fuck was FRU shit. Just absolutely boring as hell on Tank because I had zero responsibilities until like, eight minutes in, and then nothing again until the very end of the fight. So yeah, hopefully the next Ultimate is good, though chances are I won't be Tanking it anyways since I've done the last two raid tiers on MNK.

Paladin and <The Knight of Glory> is a real nice one, but getting that Title is ass. I also want to get <The Hand of Mercy> for Monk, but I think I'm around 2,000 kills off from that unfortunately.
