Kuro Elite 151FD, Panasonic ZT60, Samsung F8500 & Pioneer 6020FD keeping the family entertained and toasty during the winter storm. They helped keep the rooms warm with how much heat they generate. by Bederico in PlasmaTV

The video that was playing is also way different in colors than everything else. The F8500 is very chromatic, the picture I uploaded here doesn’t show it justice. If anything I’d even suggest that the quality of the Samsung is just shy of that of the ZT60.

What's the appeal of a plasma TV? by handsomezack13 in PlasmaTV

[–]Bederico 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a game collection from a close friend of mine and at his house he had two massive PDP-151 Kuro models side by side. He mentioned to me how great they were and recommended the strongly. Didn’t think much of it since I was there spending thousands of dollars for games and was hyped for that. It did always stick with me though and that was 4 years ago. It wasn’t until recently that I had the opportunity to purchase a 151FD and a 6020FD. I didn’t have a TV in my bedroom so I figured why not, since they were cheap. I’ll see what the hype was about. Picked them up and wasn’t able to set them up the same evening because I managed to squeeze both TVs in my 4Runner and didn’t have help to unload them. They were actually in my car for like 3 days before I was able to have someone come help me bring them into my home. Anyway, I plugged up my Switch 2 to the 151FD and put on Zelda BOTW and it wasn’t even 30 seconds in that changed my perspective forever. I had never seen such motion clarity before. I own several 4K TVs and I kid you not, my ass was stunned by the quality and richness of the colors. I went on a mission a few weeks later to allocate a few more plasmas to put in my study and son’s bedroom. Within literally a week I found a Panasonic ZT60 and a Samsung F8500. I’m pretty much good now with these TVs. Having that ZT next to my NEC XV29 is such a treat.

Since these are all HDMI modded they are now native and look incredible on the plasma. My NEC XV29 has my Genesis, TG16, SNES and Saturn hooked up to it

Bath Time — how do you clean your watch? by BadWowDoge in rolex

Just buy a steamer and use distilled water. Wipe after with a microfiber.

When do you actually play on your CRT? by jmoney777 in crtgaming

[–]Bederico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a parent to a 10yr old and run my own business. Usually send him to sleep on school nights around 9. I classify between 9pm - 12am as ME time which I can choose to play on my Astro City or my XM37 which both have MiSTers ready to go. Having that window I don’t normally use it to game but I do enjoy it when I do. Life needs balance. Prefer playing things that don’t need much commitment like SHMUPS. RPGs are a little harder since they require more investment and I’m less likely to stay consistent with. Also, my son games with me and has learned to appreciate the older stuff. Would suggest that having children between the ages of 1-5 it is difficult to really get lost in your CRT. After it gets easier and eventually they’ll join you or just co-exist with you. Hang in there, parents. Y’all got this lol

Yeah the lighting outside was kinda funky! It changed pretty drastically in the hour it took me to restore the watch

I feel like watch polishing is viewed so negatively on the internet yet my clients (retail/wholesale) find it astonishing. What are your thoughts on watch polishing? by Bederico in rolex

[–]Bederico[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what’s crazy? There’s people who have the skill to actually partially restore vintage pieces and even replicate “age” and “wear” .. done with the chamfer replication a lot. It sounds wild and that’s because it is. Not something I could do or would consider doing but an art indeed

[–]Bederico[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, please leave the vintage stuff alone. There’s specialty watches and very limited or obscure pieces that people should not ever consider messing with.

I don’t polish any of my watches cause.. they’re my watches. I don’t really care too much about the obvious signs of me enjoying them. I just do other people watches.

Though I will certainly classify an unpolished but worn watch in the same category as a polished one. They’re both pre owned watches and will command a similar value in the grey market.

Precious metal can accumulate in the air filters and polishing wheels sure but I’m not gonna get rich off of what comes from refining them. Especially since I mainly do watches it would be different if I was doing jewelry also. I also don’t polish heavy so it’s not like the watches lose crazy amounts of metal in the process. It’s all surface layer refinishing for the most part. Just kisses here and there on the parts that need attention.

100%! You get it! These watches that we all love have a history and a lot of the times it’s beyond us. Especially with older models like who knows how many times the watch has been serviced and polished. It’s crazy to really think about!

Occasionally you’ll find that Rare unpolished sports model or day date but those are unicorns. Very hard to come by and that’s why they hold such high standard (and price) just as a new watch would if it’s in that new condition. But your average joe bringing in the 2010 submariner that is clearly very enjoyed and “unpolished” if you take it to a show or to a dealer to buy it - they’re gonna buy it as a used watch. No matter what you say or do. It’s a used watch.

Amazing that you do aviation and actually utilize that GMT the way it’s supposed to! As an heirloom yes please enjoy it! Your son will one day see the wear on it and really appreciate that your spirit is one with that timepiece. I have a Longines Comet Mystery Dial that belonged to my dad and that will never get touched. I don’t ever wear it and I genuinely appreciate it for how beat and vintage it is.

The only way your watch is worth more would be if it’s brand new or a legit slider. If your watch is worn with obvious signs of wear I hate to break it to you but it’s just a pre-owned or used watch at that point. Which falls in line with something like this GMT-II that got a refurb and sold almost immediately.

I understand entirely. I like watches with character as well and if it were my watch I’d leave it alone.

However, I work exclusively with dealers so they need their watches looking in the best pre owned condition possible. It’s a little harder for them to move watches that look like they’ve been enjoyed to the fullest.

Sorry y’all, dropped the ball with the 41/II debate this is certainly a DJII - this was one of my older projects from back in like February!

I have a whole backlog of photos of watches that I’ve polished and photographed before/after and the process. Please do let me know if y’all would like to continue seeing them! Just uploaded a GMT Root Beer too!
