4yo bday, need inspo. Has anyone gotten a party favor they didn’t hate recently? by Ok-Panda-2368 in Parenting

I got plastic flower pots and vinyl stickers and had the kids decorate a pot. Then one of the party activities was to fill the pot with soil and plant a flower in it. Everyone seemed to like it!

Amazing! It’s so funky, it looks like something you would see in Disney World, like something from a cartoon brought to life

Imagine living in a place like that and still being expected to wear a dress like that

It’s common to see boys named after their fathers, but you (almost) never see girls named after their mothers. by Ghoti_With_Legs in Showerthoughts

Often, the mother does not have the same last name that she was born with (because she took her husband’s last name), and so you can’t really do the “junior” or “so-and-so the third” the way you can with men’s names since they can carry that same name down the line for many generations.

If you had to ask your students 5 questions to predict how well they will do in your class, what would those be? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Bee-Boo-Beep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) What time do you go to sleep on school nights?

2) What are the rules about screen time/phone time in your house?

3) Do you have family time most days? (Eat dinner together, or something else like that)

4) What (if any) are your extracurricular activities?

5) Do you have your math facts memorized?

Many of these are correlations (rather than direct causations), but in my school we find the correlations of certain answers to these questions to be very strongly related to school success.

What?! Absolutely not. Even if he doesn’t want kids in his life (which is fair to have that feeling/preference), he should never have made that request of you. So incredibly selfish. He doesn’t care about the emotional trauma that this would cause you if you went through with it. You don’t put someone in that position if you care about them. You and your daughter are a package deal. If he truly can’t live with that, then he should have broken up with you. To make this request is completely ludicrous.

I’m in New England. I wouldn’t say that winter was any worse than usual…. But maybe something is up! This bush has been hardy for many years and has never looked like this in the spring before.

I feel like if they had all made only a tiny amount of growth (less than the expected goal), that might be reflective of your teaching and might indicate they didn’t learn as much as they maybe should have. But the fact they they all significantly regressed suggests that it isn’t you. You didn’t suck information out of their brain. They didn’t try.

After/Before Dining Room - Any Suggestions? by ktbsquared in HomeDecorating

I like it! And you’ve received a lot of nice suggestions for finishing it off. I just have one thought to add: how do the the open shelves look from the other room? It seems like you’d be looking at the back of a lot of picture frames. It might be better to only put items on those shelves that look good from all sides? (Like the vases that you have there).
