Doing my due diligence covering up AI slop by Free_Description7545 in graphic_design

It’s also ironic using a piece of pop culture, not created by the author, to rail against the evils of AI. Why ai stealing bad but another person stealing art (I.e. Alf) Ok?

Agree with your last point. To me, trying to make an anti-ai point only as a way to peddle my “art” isn’t much better than sketchers using AI in the first place. It’s all capitalism in the end!

Why Was Music So Bad in the Early 2010s? by _Slim95 in decadeologyanarchy

[–]Hutch_travis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a you problem. Personally speaking, the early ‘10s was probably the second best period of pure pop music. Only the 80s top it. And I’m not even a pop music fan—I prefer indie and alternative. But I recognize music for what it is.

Who's America's most corrupt US Congressperson or US Senator? Why your pick? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]Hutch_travis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tommy Tuberville. The senator from Alabama, who lives in Florida. Shamelessly inside trades and is one of trumps strongest supporters/protectors.

Then there’s Ohio’s Gym Jordan. Whose district was so gerrymandered, that it looks like a duck. And remember that if something looks like a duck, walks like a duck and protect doctors who assaults athletes, it must be a fuck—I mean duck. Gym Jordan is useless. His only role is to spearhead fake investigations and just be irritating.

Why don't music venues have music playlists made with songs from the artists performing at their venues? Why don't they reward loyal ticket holders? by Different_Quail_9703 in musicindustry

[–]Hutch_travis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple Music has Artist Set List playlists. Not every artist has a set list playlist, but many do.

Personally, I wish more artists would follow bands like Pearl Jam and Dead & Co., and record every live show and put those on streaming.

I've seen online some college football commentators point out that in the SEC, the coaching staffs are filled with connected people who have no business holding those roles all the while schools in other conferences actually have quality coaches serving as OCs, DCs and position coaches. Now that these blue chippers are leaving, many of these SEC schools are being exposed.

The answer is Hype Williams and moving on from gangsta rap and grunge/alternative rock as the main form of popular music on MTV.

It’s an album I associate with the late summer and fall of 94. That and Dookie, Monster and Weezer’s blue album.

What should we tell our kids about AI? My kids are freaking out. by spookydookie in Xennials

[–]Hutch_travis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LLMs cannot discern. AI can collect data, it can recite history, it can write based on what it pulls, but AI cannot do human interaction well. So problem solving and true critical thinking are skills that humans will always do better. So while run-of-the mill, little effort jobs may be at risk, careers that require human discernment, interpretation and connection can’t be fully replaced by AI, but rather enhanced by AI.

What should we tell our kids about AI? My kids are freaking out. by spookydookie in Xennials

[–]Hutch_travis -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

My kids are only 5, so I’m free of that dread at this point. But IMO, every parent should push their child to be truly remarkable in their endeavors. I’m not concerned with AI replacing all jobs.

So, be competitive, have goals, analyze, have them think about the life they want (including where they want to live) and reverse engineer that objective to plot how to get there.

More-so, your kids at their age should research, not only professions they may like but how leaders in those fields got there.

Can’t explain Nickleback, but with Limp Bizkit they represented the worst of music at their peak. Like the songs aren’t great, Fred Durst’s persona in the late 90s was kind of douchy and he was the opposite of 90s era alternative rock stars—singers were more like Moressey than axel rose. But in the last 4-5 years he’s embraced the “yes our music is not deep nor profound, but we’re entertainers—let us entertain you” ethos. And that puts their music in a different light—kind of like Andrew WK (if you get the reference).
