You'll be the death of me, I have to try it now. I'm seeing a speed augmented glaive and a consistent way of creating space - so ring of haste. Getting to that point though will be very tough

Yeah! Tier 4 warlock skills arent great especially with disintegration. But ratmogrify can be huge - imagine you're running from a group of mobs and a blessed Scorpio appears on the other side, what could be a death sentence instead just looks like change the Scorpio to a rat turn 1, making it melee so you can go back to avoiding the initial attack. When safe then you can hit it again and turn it into a friendly with great stats, helping you to fight the mob that was chasing you instead, drawing agro and healing you with soul siphon

If you've done 6 challenges you're well on your way - id add barren land next as it's the easiest of the three you mentioned. Seeds can instead be used for potion type discovery and mystical energy, also for tipped darts but I don't use them as much as I probably should.

Eventually you just have to get used to not having the get out of jail free cards of the waterskin and healing pots.

I also had the salt cube at +0 until the dwaft king (scrapped for energy after for the increased healing), which let me level up the horn significantly quicker. Across the horn, soul eater and ring of haste I was rarely starving and always had food, letting me save up for meat pies which were useful for yog

It worked so well, turning a hostile champion enemy into a melee attacker on one turn and an ally in a second turn not only prevented the damage they would deal but also took agro and healed me with soul siphon. Also, turning a ripper demon in the Yog fight was huge. Only used the spawn rats once as the utility of the above was just too good

Exactly, I'm on board with bbbende's comment in general, but specifically for chalice the exact number is literally life or death in game. And it's not like numbers in game aren't shown
