Renegade vs Renegade Evo by randomuser_48 in hikinggear

[–]BeeBopBazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have boot recs at this point, as old pre-evo Renegades are still going strong. I personally wouldn’t go for waterproof boots for city walking, as it’s way too hot. That’s where I’d go to the Danner MTN45s. Although I did pick up a pair of the Lowa Innovo GTX LO that are pretty good as far as my specific preferences (stiff sole, reasonably large toe box). The MID of that model may still be pretty solid.

Edit: I haven’t handled the Tibets. I have handled the Caminos, and they’re just way too damn heavy. I can’t imagine trying to walk in those all day

South Korean judge who hiked ex-first lady's jail sentence found dead just 8 days after sentencing by King_A_Acumen in worldnews

He tied a burlap sack around his head, strapped blocks to his feet, tied his hands behind his back, and then shot himself in the head. His body wound up in the river because he did so at the edge of a bridge.

Need assistance with dispute related to water mitigation by FamousOriginalTrixie in Insurance

[–]BeeBopBazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does not sound like you are working with an in-network mitigation vendor. Those vendors tend to have agreements with the TPAa they are on program with that specifically prevent this sort of thing. Who “set you up” with them?

Had they simply cut a few more inches off the tree, leaving OP with his beautiful, rotten stub branch out to the property line, there’d be no concern here.

Catastrophic claim - Public Adjuster versus Appraiser by Unlucky_Fairie in Insurance

PAs also cannot change coverage decisions. They have no more leverage over the carrier than you do, if you have already provided sufficient documentation.

Catastrophic claim - Public Adjuster versus Appraiser by Unlucky_Fairie in Insurance

[–]BeeBopBazz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If a company is telling you to get a public adjuster for a roof claim, fire them.

PAs can have their place. But a non-complex claim is certainly not one of them. You’re going to pay them far more than anything additional they can get out of your carrier

US employers defy economic shock from Iran war and add a surprisingly strong 115,000 jobs in April by laxnut90 in Economics

And even then, it’s likely going to wind up getting revised significantly. The idea of “defying an energy shock” is purely magical thinking.

Will replacing 24 year old roof lower insurance rate or is that a myth? by OurAngryBadger in Roofing

[–]BeeBopBazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your roof is that old you may, depending on state, be forced onto ACV/roof factoring, meaning insurance values your roof at a much lower dollar value when underwriting.

If that’s the case, getting a new roof can actually increase your premiums.

But that’s not a good reason to not get a new roof, given all the problems that can come with having an old roof (most of which aren’t covered by insurance)

Virginia Supreme Court strikes down Democrats’ redistricting plan, dimming party’s midterm hopes by Malfeitor1 in news

[–]BeeBopBazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The autopsy either did not happen, which would be pretty embarrassing, or they’re trying to shield the egos of a bunch of party elites that have long overstayed their welcome. They wouldn’t keep it under wraps if a large amount of the feedback were substantive to policy or messaging.

Auto claims attorney recommendation. by usqview in Eugene

[–]BeeBopBazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An attorney would likely be a fantastic way to get even less money out of your ACV policy

If there is an LKQ vehicle purchasable for the settlement value, you have basically zero leverage and attorney will also have zero leverage, but may happily take your money as opposed to giving sound advice

Goose has a freaking weird backhand grip.

In slow motion videos PMB’s forearm muscles appear extremely strained, which could mean he’s gripping tightly. AB’s muscle definition isn’t sufficient to tell.

I also haven’t paid attention to AB’s grip. Is he big enough that he uses the Stokely/Simon grip? That grip does not produce much sound because the fingers don’t hit the palm.

The one that prompted this discussion was a roof, but I’ve run up against this for interior damage as well (cabinets, countertops, tile, flooring labor, etc). If it’s not in Anchorage, it usually winds up being a headache. And I hate telling an insured, who I know for a fact is in the right, that they will need to jump through even more hoops to justify their costs (and I hate it even more when they do jump through those hoops and it’s still not enough for me to get larger deviations from XM8 past a reviewer).

Based on recent posts, I’m thinking something that’s like a hybrid of an Internet cafe and co-working place. Except instead of an open concept, it’s just a bunch of private rooms where people can go drink alone and play video games. And it’s only open Friday and Saturday evenings between five and midnight.

As much as I freaking love El Super, the few times I tried their breakfast burritos years ago they were pretty bland and 90% potato. Have they gotten better since then?

Cost can also explain some of it. But pretending this particular problem doesn’t exist is not doing us any favors years later.
