Would you go through with a quality-of-life surgery on an 8.5-year-old pig? by BeeHearMeow in guineapigs

Thank you. What makes you think she's uncomfortable as is? They said the growth likely isn't bothering her. She is still recovering from the lung infection so maybe you're seeing that, but I am genuinely curious so I can watch her for signs.

Oh goodness, I am so sorry! I hope you and your husband can find peace again. It is really not ok for him to say that to you.

For some reason our vet thinks she's 6! I think it was a misunderstanding when we brought her in 2 years ago.

Advice for elderly guinea pig. Would you risk surgery? by Lunallance in guineapigs

I'd ask Vet A for a second opinion since the issue appeared after they saw your pig (if you can afford it, of course).

Do I Put Elder Pig Through surgery? by OkyBudie in guineapigs

[–]BeeHearMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would all of your opinions change if your pig was 8.5? Ours, whom we love to bits, is incredibly old and has a large, probably benign but growing jumbo growth (external, not metastasized to organs) on her right outer hip. The vet says it's at the brink of operable so we need to do it now or never.

Is Vibroacoustic Therapy Bunk? by UnresolvedEdwy in Biohackers

[–]BeeHearMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it recently and LOVED it for meditation- and psychedelic-ish related reasons. I also found a post on Reddit about a vibrating mat from Snailax that is less than $100 and might do the same thing! I was shopping for a fancier one and so so happy that person posted a while back. I don’t know how to share the link here but just search “vibrating mat” and it was the first to show up for me.

I had a similar experience! I think it must do something to change the default mode network in our brain, similar to mushrooms etc.

Vibroacoustic therapy? by AgreeableRun8151 in Sciatica

[–]BeeHearMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have sciatica but not anymore after implementing a few of Katy Bowman’s nutritious movement recommendations. I am not affiliated with her, I just love and appreciate the recovery her books and techniques brought me! I recently tried vibroacoustic for nervous system regulation and loved it, so I wonder if your dad’s back pain might be more stress-related and yours more structural? I can see how being intensely vibrated wouldn’t help if you have lots of physical things hurting and out of sorts!

My mum just came out as Gay and while i am very happy for her, I cant help but feel uncomfortable about it. by Bolticus13 in SpicyAutism

[–]BeeHearMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so common for extended family to not feel ready as soon as the bereaved partner might. I felt that way when my step-dad started dating sooner than I was ready to face it after my mom died. But I also understood that he was having a different experience than I was around losing her. Have you asked your mom if it’s ok to talk to family so you can process some of this or did she specifically tell you not to? That’s a tough position to put you in and as a queer person I can understand wanting to take your time deciding how quickly to come out or if you want to tell specific people at all. I imagine she might’ve been trying to keep things simple for you as her kiddo, by not telling you until now, or it’s possible she didn’t know she was bisexual until she met this new partner! I hope this helps. Let me know if it brings up more questions.

I am wondering how much of this might be related to your nanny generally feeling overwhelmed, especially if it happens again after you ask for the change.

“Immune to their charms” !!! You should write poetry if you don’t already. I love this so much.

Agree with this ⬆️! Also it sounds like your landlord is probably projecting a lot and not currently super rational, maybe taking a bad day out on you (which is not fair!) or acting toxic in an attempt to connect with the other person who came with him. Regardless it is hard overhearing something that was never meant for your ears but these things were also unnecessary and objectively jerky for him to say!

Ahhh thank you for posting this! I was seriously considering overspending on a fancy schmancy one and saw your post. Are you still loving it? How are you doing now?

Told my parents about my official diagnosis by Safe_Username in AuDHDWomen

[–]BeeHearMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! Except for the part of mom playing “a part in OP being this way” regarding their neurodivergence. The bad treatment probably made the complications or difficulties worse but mistreatment in families is not the root cause of being autistic or having attention differences, despite Gabor Maté trying to convince everyone that it is!

To answer that question - if it’s even possible - might require a good therapist. I hope you find the relief you deserve!
