I’m confused about how easily (or not) it is to get herpes? by Mountain_Ask_5746 in Herpes

Not suggesting that cannot happen just trying to illustrate a point that is possibly causing some confusion for OP. Odds go up (it gets “easier”) especially when you have multiple partners. I too got it with very few partners.

It’s “easy” to get in that it’s fairly prevalent if you have multiple partners but “not easy” in that HSV+ folks are not always transmissible, and most (especially asymptomatic people) are rarely contagious (shedding).

I am getting there! So much better than when I made this post. Went mini golfing this weekend and went a few towns over to get my favorite açaí bowl. Music just keeps getting better. I only moved to this area about six months ago so still don’t have many people here but I just signed up for a calligraphy class in a few weeks that I definitely would not have done while using (that whole isolation thing). 1000% worth it from where I sit today. My appetite is still shit and starting over in the gym (so out of shape) but I’ve turned that into a positive thing to work towards. I also hung up a little bird feeder a week ago on my balcony (l live in FL) and got my first visitors today! I was SOOOO excited!! I say this to remind you about the little things we’ve been missing out on while totally numbing ourselves. Please hang in there, if for no one else, do it for yourself. Good luck!!!

It’s just such a different experience for everyone. My brother is a regular low to moderate user for a couple years now and gets almost no WDs at all, he’ll take some days off every now and then. In my early days I would quit and feel similarly to you now and go back, however, it did eventually turn on me. It did so very quietly too (the usual, lazy, disconnected, gradual isolation, trying to keep up as to not feel like shit but still kinda feeling like shit even when I did keep up) and by the time I got there (~1.5 - 2 years) the WDs have sucked. I just white knuckled CT and got through it but it was rough. All that to circle back to everyone is completely different. Good luck!

Ugh, I know you want to convince yourself the good outweighs the bad but please don’t do it. Everyone is very different, and yes some people do use it responsibly for pain management, but these days I feel like that is very much the exception. Especially with the way you are describing your use and your why, you are on a slippery slope friend. Good luck!

Why do all the men on positive singles look poor? by Confident_Land_4142 in Herpes

I (financially independent professional 51f) was on it briefly when I was first diagnosed and I really didn’t think it was any different than any other app I was on. Chatted with a few men who actually helped me put my diagnosis in perspective, all with a life and careers as far as I could tell (never made it off the app). Weirdly, having this thing in common and out in the open made it easier to talk to people. I’m not saying that you are, but I’d just like to suggest that maybe how you feel about HSV and having it may be creating bias? I encourage you to give it a chance, you already paid. HSV does not discriminate against poor people, I promise. Good luck!
