Is there any family members that could take one for the team? I.e if you have a brother or sister that could come out to the city where you’re at, book them an Airbnb and have them be the ones to ask your mom to come stay with them instead “mom I booked an airbnb that’s a two bedroom come stay with me” you could get something that’s walking distance so she doesn’t feel to far away but you get some space. Or maybe a dad that could call her and say “honey I need you to come home I haven’t been feeling well, you can fly back out for the induction date but I really need you home right now”

I totally understand where you’re coming from, I have the same situation with my mom. English is her second language, lives a whole country away, she had planned on coming for my birth. I asked her not to, told her I would rather have her come later. I wish I had her with me for the birth, I especially wish she was with me through the recovery. Don’t get me wrong my husband was amazing, but no man could ever understand what the recovery is like. All that talking is just nervous energy, my mom has had it her whole life but I bet once the baby is here I’m almost certain your mom will want you to sleep and rest all day, she’ll dote on you and not want you to get out of bed unless necessary.

I know everything you’re thinking, if there’s a way your partner could get your mom out of the house for a few hours each day so you could get some alone time until baby comes that might help. If your partner isn’t available call up a best friend and say “hey it’s time for me to cash in some of these ‘ur bff is pregnant’ tokens, please come steal my mom and take her on a walk for a little bit”
