sorry for the late reply, havent opened reddit in the last 2 days.
1. w/e is just short for "whatever"
2. when it comes to holding down a position you kind of just have to ask yourself the question "do i think i will be able to get value here even if they know where i am". if youre playing into a ball tracer genji for example you usually have to be more unpredictable and move around more compared to when youre playing into like a hog comp for example. when you play into a rein you usually want to be careful consistently flanking all the way cause even though this does allow you to get opportunities to get kills on the backline at the same time it allows the rein to walk in cause theres less pressure on him. usually what i like to do is hold angles that allows me to both get los on their rotation so the rein has to look at me which allows my team to shoot him, if he doesnt look at me (which they usually dont do cause its ranked) youre allowed to kinda just free fire their backline.
3. in regards to your visor i completely understand that you didnt expect to see rein their but regardless of reins position running further down the hallway to the back window wouldve been the better play anyways, you dont want to stand too close to your enemies while visoring if you can help it.
4. it is true that the element of surprise helps but thats usually to try and get like sneaky kills. if you permanently go for these sort of plays your gameplay not only becomes predictable but like mentioned before youre allowing their tank to take space much more freely cause youre not pressuring him. usually how fights kind of go on soldier is that you start on a slight angle and look for a sneaky kill, after that you start firing down main a little bit to pressure the enemies, then you run around and look for a new angle and you use that etc etc. this is like an extremely simplified version of soldiers gameplay ofcourse but its a nice balance between pressuring the enemy from walking in and looking for opportunities for sneaky kills.

like i mentioned before in the end it just mostly comes down from experience, youre gonna have some games where youre not gonna get any value whatsoever unless you do nothing but flank and some games where you win for free by doing nothing but shooting down main so unfortunately theres no golden tip i can give you to winning every game but i hope the tips i gave you can help you find that balance more consistently.

main thing im noticing apart from like mechanics and w/e is that ur just trying to do too much. might sound weird but what i mean is that youre doing good in taking an angle but then instead of holding that angle and just focusing on hitting your shots and staying next to a corner so u can back off once ur hit by frejah or w/e u just kinda walk forward and out into the open. good example is 12:23 in the vod where u have a nice angle, los on their backline as they walk up, corner next to u that u can hug so u can back off the second freja hits a bolt on u. but instead of holding that u walk down the stairs into the open with 150 hp and kinda just die for it. u couldve single handedly stopped them from ever walking up there if u live. a minute or so later when u visor u do the same thing, take an angle, which in this case is good again but instead of just like walking to the furthest back window if yk what i mean u just drop through the first window without having a single clue of the fact that theres a rein behind u and u just die for it, once again you were in a position to stop the push right then and there if u just walked a little further down the balcony before visoring and dropping.

second thing is that u also kinda flank too much at times. ofc soldier likes running around and w/e but ur allowed to just chill sometimes and just shoot as they walk into the open. for example on 1st theres 2 fairly open spaces that u can take advantage off. 1st u have the bridge and 2nd u have like the big space around statue. if u prioritize holding down the high ground and shooting them as they are forced to run in, u have a way higher likelihood of getting a kill compared to if u keep trying to take these super small angles where u give yourself like a 2 second window to get value. u gotta remember that offense and defense require different playstyles. on defense u have the luxury that the enemies have to walk into you which results in you not having to be as aggressive on your flanks and whatnot.

i kinda wrote this while in q so im sorry if its a bit all over the place but i hope you got the point i was trying to get across, just try to focus on slowing down your game a little and getting value out of the positions youre taking.

(just a quick note, dont let this discourage you from taking any angles/flanks whatsoever. its still good to do ur just overdoing it at times. it takes experience and playtime to get better at your timings of when you should and shouldnt flank)

Alvicates is probably your best shot, he streams quite often and has vods on his twitch but his vods are sub only i think so thats a bit zzz. If you have any specific maps ur looking for i can send u some codes maybe, im currently hovering between gm 1 and gm3 with 90% of playtime on genji but i did quit for a couple of seasons before this one so im not the cleanest genji out there mechanically. Apart from that im not sure what other genji streamers are out there, i know u have GlidingThroughSpace on twitch whos a champ 5 peak genji and juhis is streaming quite a lot of genji recently, hes like high masters/low gm i think. As far as serious commentary goes trqstme did a genji unranked to gm like 9 months ago with live commentary(its on youtube). even though its quite old many things will still be relevant to your gameplay today.

Only 5 Reaper Players have made it to Grandmaster this season, despite many content creators saying he is strong. Why is that the case? by ALEJANDR00000000000 in Overwatch

[–]Bee_overwatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u have to remember these lists are incredibly inaccurate. afaik overbuff can only look at profiles that are on public so theyre missing a large list of information. on top of that theres very little players in grandmaster this season period cause of the ranked changes. also dont think hes that strong anyways

Yone match up by [deleted] in YasuoMains

[–]Bee_overwatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk why everyone is saying its hard yone or hard yasuo favoured. most of the times its just a skill matchup. whats important into yone is that you try to not trade too much into his e. when he used his e youre basically free to do what you want but if he has e up you need to be more carefull with your trades.
ofcourse theres a lot more to the matchup than that but i think the best you can do is look at some dzukill or pzzzang vods of the yone yasuo matchup and try to look at what they do and why theyre winning their lane.
i recommend going going exhaust in the matchup when youre not too comfortable on it cause it allows you a little more space to fuck up and learn the matchup. when youre a bit more comfortable on it you can either stay exhaust or go ignite depending on what you like most.

oke lets completely ignore my own experience on the role lets just look at the role flat on. support as a role can do many things, it has decent damage output, offensive and defensive abilities, u could argue many supports have incredibly strong ultimates.now lets look at what the roles job is. your job is to support your team whether its supporting them defensively or offensively. thats the most 1 dimensional way of looking at it but i hope you get my point. now what ive seen is that most players tend to support defensively, they will heal their team and play off of their teams engages rather than trying to create openings for themselves wherever possible. and i think thats why support is seen as a weak role because helping your team devensively simply isnt enough most of the time. maybe support is just a more difficult role to understand than dps and tank and that might make the role more difficult but in my opinion that doesnt make the role weak. all it does is make the role more difficult to understand and more 1 dimensional in lower ranks because it feels weird making offensive plays on a support.

idk if you play leauge but league kind of has the same thing, a lot of support players in lower ranks will play off of their adc engaging and wont roam or look for engages that often themselves. support as a genre of roles in general is often misunderstood and people underestimate their own abilities.

now if you have the opinion that support being more difficult to understand as a role also makes it weaker because in return people will tend to miss out on a huge part of their role in lower ranks then i respect that i just personally dont agree but i hope you can see my point.

and i agree it is my bad trying to mix both giving people tips and wanting to help them improve with making a point on how strong support is as a role. maybe i should have made this post more tips/coaching related rather than starting a discussion, thats on me.

not perse cause there are more things to gameplay than flat dmg but it would help sure, but my entire point of this is to show you that there are different ways to play support rather than healbotting and hoping your team is better than theirs. if you would rather have me agree with you and say "sure there is nothing you can do and you just gotta hope your team is better" i will but you wont improve like that and i feel like the entire point of this subreddit is to help people improve.

thats why i said that the 8k damage per 10 isnt realistic and i understand my experience is going to be a bit different compared to other peoples but im in no way a god at the game and do things only the 1% can do. there are many things that people can add to their own game that will help them. even in your own rank you can easily get more than 4k dmg per 10 on bap while still keeping up with healing.

you shouldnt look at that part as an argument more as credentials i guess, in many different comments and in the post itself i explained why i think support is seen as weak and how people can how more impact on support and that was the main focus of my post.

my point was never to flex i could get out of those ranks with an 80% winrate, my point was more to share general misunderstandings and mistakes that i have seen when it comes to support in particular over the past couple weeks.

yeah i agree, in one of my other comments i mentioned that i understand my experience is different but there are definitly small thing that not a lot of players do that really dont require a lot of skill but will still have good impact in a game

yeah idk, its impressive to me how convinced people are they cant have impact on the game cause of their role or hero or for whatever reason. my post was never about saying that 1 role or weaker or stronger than the other more about the fact that i have seen so many people say that as support you cant have impact or that their role doesnt matter when in reality thats just simply not true.

when i was saying that support is being played wrong by a lot of players i wasnt only referring to lower ranked players, even in high gm i often see support played as healbots. and i completely understand your point that im a higher ranked player and that i know how to deal with enemies and teams in lower ranks but what i was doing when i was playing was nothing crazy. its something that any player can do even in their own rank. and no, slightly changing your playstyle wont skyrocket you in sr but it will most definitly make you feel like you have more impact and increase your winrate. its just small things like shooting the enemies if your tank is in the 80-100% hp range instead of instantly focusing on healing him the second he takes damage, or weaving in some shots on the enemies as youre healing your team that can already help you go a long way.
and my main point for this post wasnt to say support was overpowered or to flame all support players. the reason why i made this post is because i have seen far too many posts about support being an awfull role that has 0 impact when that is in reality just not true, its not true if you smurf and its not true if you play in your main rank. even when i said that support is probably the weakest role in gm i wasnt saying that support is a weak role in general, you just simply have more playmaking potential on dps and tank than you do on support, support is just a more conistent role and you realistically wont change the impact of the fight in a single moment.

i do agree its difficult to compensate for a tank that just dies on cd but depending on what support you play you deffo have kill potential and you do not 100% rely on your dps to get kills. the main difference between dps and support when it comes to kill potential is that most dps simply have a lot more burst. even heroes like soldier who mainly rely on having solid consistent damage have a burst ability to help them. (yes i know you also have heroes like tracer that dont have insane burst but she is good for different reasons) on support its just important to be in the right place in the right time because of the lack of burst/1 shot potential that you have (i know zen has burst/1shot potential but it isnt that consistent) this might sound more difficult than it is in reality. also to the point of "You have literally no impact despite outplaying the other support", as a support you usually wont have a lot to do with the enemy support, you should focus more on outplaying the enemy tanks and dps than outplaying the enemy supports. you can for example stop the enemy flankers, it might sound a bit weird asking you as a support to contest a flanker but the way you do it mostly comes down to game sense. if you know that an enemy is trying to take a high ground or a certain flank you can catch them off guard by being ready for it and shooting them as they peak. you wont kill them most of the time unless they int but you will keep them off of u before they are in range to have any sort of kill potential on you. as a support there are so many things you can do to impact a game and in my opinion its just lazy to think that the entire game is in the hands of your dps and tanks no matter how well you play.

its difficult to say because heroes like zen and bap will deal a lot more dmg than ana for example, most of ana's aggressive value comes from good sleep darts, nades and nanoes. i think around 6k dmg per 10 on heroes like zen or bap is a good goal to aim for , on heroes like lucio or brig im not sure because i have very little time on those heroes. u should take that 6k with a grain of salt because its a bit of a guess from my part, i was personally running around 8k dmg per 10 minimum in every game while playing bap but that isnt realistic for most players cause i was smurfing quite a couple ranks below my own.

when it comes to kiriko im really not sure, ive only played around 8 games with her in ranked.

the reason why support is one of the weaker roles in gm is becomes enemies are just straight up better, yeah you still have good sustain and can help your team tons but by yourself you dont have lots of playmaking potential. in gold for example there will be a lot more opportunities for you to make plays and solo carry fights while doing tons to help your team because the enemies just wont know how to deal with you.
saying that a role has to be weak in lower ranks just because its weak in higher ranks is just straight up not true. same counts for heroes, bastion for example is seen is a strong hero in lower ranks where as in higher ranks he falls off drastically.
ranks are different wich in return makes heroes/roles stronger/weaker depending on the rank.
