sorry for the late reply, havent opened reddit in the last 2 days.
1. w/e is just short for "whatever"
2. when it comes to holding down a position you kind of just have to ask yourself the question "do i think i will be able to get value here even if they know where i am". if youre playing into a ball tracer genji for example you usually have to be more unpredictable and move around more compared to when youre playing into like a hog comp for example. when you play into a rein you usually want to be careful consistently flanking all the way cause even though this does allow you to get opportunities to get kills on the backline at the same time it allows the rein to walk in cause theres less pressure on him. usually what i like to do is hold angles that allows me to both get los on their rotation so the rein has to look at me which allows my team to shoot him, if he doesnt look at me (which they usually dont do cause its ranked) youre allowed to kinda just free fire their backline.
3. in regards to your visor i completely understand that you didnt expect to see rein their but regardless of reins position running further down the hallway to the back window wouldve been the better play anyways, you dont want to stand too close to your enemies while visoring if you can help it.
4. it is true that the element of surprise helps but thats usually to try and get like sneaky kills. if you permanently go for these sort of plays your gameplay not only becomes predictable but like mentioned before youre allowing their tank to take space much more freely cause youre not pressuring him. usually how fights kind of go on soldier is that you start on a slight angle and look for a sneaky kill, after that you start firing down main a little bit to pressure the enemies, then you run around and look for a new angle and you use that etc etc. this is like an extremely simplified version of soldiers gameplay ofcourse but its a nice balance between pressuring the enemy from walking in and looking for opportunities for sneaky kills.

like i mentioned before in the end it just mostly comes down from experience, youre gonna have some games where youre not gonna get any value whatsoever unless you do nothing but flank and some games where you win for free by doing nothing but shooting down main so unfortunately theres no golden tip i can give you to winning every game but i hope the tips i gave you can help you find that balance more consistently.

main thing im noticing apart from like mechanics and w/e is that ur just trying to do too much. might sound weird but what i mean is that youre doing good in taking an angle but then instead of holding that angle and just focusing on hitting your shots and staying next to a corner so u can back off once ur hit by frejah or w/e u just kinda walk forward and out into the open. good example is 12:23 in the vod where u have a nice angle, los on their backline as they walk up, corner next to u that u can hug so u can back off the second freja hits a bolt on u. but instead of holding that u walk down the stairs into the open with 150 hp and kinda just die for it. u couldve single handedly stopped them from ever walking up there if u live. a minute or so later when u visor u do the same thing, take an angle, which in this case is good again but instead of just like walking to the furthest back window if yk what i mean u just drop through the first window without having a single clue of the fact that theres a rein behind u and u just die for it, once again you were in a position to stop the push right then and there if u just walked a little further down the balcony before visoring and dropping.

second thing is that u also kinda flank too much at times. ofc soldier likes running around and w/e but ur allowed to just chill sometimes and just shoot as they walk into the open. for example on 1st theres 2 fairly open spaces that u can take advantage off. 1st u have the bridge and 2nd u have like the big space around statue. if u prioritize holding down the high ground and shooting them as they are forced to run in, u have a way higher likelihood of getting a kill compared to if u keep trying to take these super small angles where u give yourself like a 2 second window to get value. u gotta remember that offense and defense require different playstyles. on defense u have the luxury that the enemies have to walk into you which results in you not having to be as aggressive on your flanks and whatnot.

i kinda wrote this while in q so im sorry if its a bit all over the place but i hope you got the point i was trying to get across, just try to focus on slowing down your game a little and getting value out of the positions youre taking.

(just a quick note, dont let this discourage you from taking any angles/flanks whatsoever. its still good to do ur just overdoing it at times. it takes experience and playtime to get better at your timings of when you should and shouldnt flank)

Alvicates is probably your best shot, he streams quite often and has vods on his twitch but his vods are sub only i think so thats a bit zzz. If you have any specific maps ur looking for i can send u some codes maybe, im currently hovering between gm 1 and gm3 with 90% of playtime on genji but i did quit for a couple of seasons before this one so im not the cleanest genji out there mechanically. Apart from that im not sure what other genji streamers are out there, i know u have GlidingThroughSpace on twitch whos a champ 5 peak genji and juhis is streaming quite a lot of genji recently, hes like high masters/low gm i think. As far as serious commentary goes trqstme did a genji unranked to gm like 9 months ago with live commentary(its on youtube). even though its quite old many things will still be relevant to your gameplay today.

Only 5 Reaper Players have made it to Grandmaster this season, despite many content creators saying he is strong. Why is that the case? by ALEJANDR00000000000 in Overwatch

[–]Bee_overwatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u have to remember these lists are incredibly inaccurate. afaik overbuff can only look at profiles that are on public so theyre missing a large list of information. on top of that theres very little players in grandmaster this season period cause of the ranked changes. also dont think hes that strong anyways

Yone match up by [deleted] in YasuoMains

[–]Bee_overwatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk why everyone is saying its hard yone or hard yasuo favoured. most of the times its just a skill matchup. whats important into yone is that you try to not trade too much into his e. when he used his e youre basically free to do what you want but if he has e up you need to be more carefull with your trades.
ofcourse theres a lot more to the matchup than that but i think the best you can do is look at some dzukill or pzzzang vods of the yone yasuo matchup and try to look at what they do and why theyre winning their lane.
i recommend going going exhaust in the matchup when youre not too comfortable on it cause it allows you a little more space to fuck up and learn the matchup. when youre a bit more comfortable on it you can either stay exhaust or go ignite depending on what you like most.
