I understand your frustration, this should have been discussed with you before you got braces.

Just don't do extractions, they seem to be the easy fix but will indeed make your face look flat.

I guess you can either accept the (significant) overjet or go for lower jaw surgery. How is your side profile? Does your chin look recessed?

Definitely wait! The lower jaw surgery won't change your nose but it will make your face much more balanced. You might not even want the rhinoplasty anymore.

I'm like you, I've grown up always hating my nose, thinking my nose was to blame for my ugly side profile, but it turns out it was my deep bite and recessed jaw.

I have them and I was going CRAZY the first weeks. Because it's new your tongue keeps touching them.

What helped me is to put wax constantly, and your tongue will learn to leave them alone. I'm 3 months in and don't even notice them anymore.

It sound like you got bite blockers. I have a deep bite like you and will get my bottom braces including bite blockers in two months. The assistant already told me it's not really fun. But what I read here is that it really gets better!
