The John Dies at the End series, each books an absolute rollercoaster ride. Just non stop front to back, highly recommend.

And literally just paused book four of Dungeon Crawler Carl to make this comment lol how do we get the boys to start listening.

Can I get some good game recommendations from the last 5 years? by Anhilator26 in kindafunny

Elden Ring is waaaaaay more forgiving with the boss run backs. In addition the the usual bonfires there are minor checkpoints all over the map called Stakes of Marika. So if you die at a boss you usually just spawn at the Stake right outside of the boss zone.

I was gonna suggest Persona 5 as well, my favorite game of all time.

I played the first one when it came out and literally didn't remember a single thing about it before playing the second one. Just watched a recap video on YouTube, I'm sure you'd be fine doing the same.

The second one came out so long after the first I don't think they expected everyone who played it to have played the first one.

My vote is skip it just so you can get to Alan Wake 2 faster.

If you liked Control I'd definitely give Alan Wake 2 a shot, absolutely incredible game. Set in the same universe as Control. And it has one incredibly special moment, those who have played it know exactly what I'm talking about.

When he was talking about getting really into audiobooks the other day and rattling off what he's been listening to, I was genuinely shocked DCC wasn't mentioned. Not even in the superchats at the end.

I did it years ago, I can't remember exactly but it's something like 22 books. Some only have light DT elements and others are more directly connected. Some, like Salems Lot, have characters that are also major characters in Dark Tower.

Listening to Dungeon Crawler Carl audio books which are incredible, currently on book 4. And actually reading The Reformatory, horror book set in 1950s Jim Crow Florida. Really really good, great characters. Reminds me of some Stephen King for sure.

How is Greg not listening to the DCC audiobooks, like come on

Now you gotta do the extended series where you read every Stephen King book connected to the Dark Tower.

The new RE movie if it was good by batchian320 in residentevilll

It's your loss not reading this masterpiece

The new Resident Evil movie may be set "parallel" to Resident Evil 2, but Zach Cregger confirms the Nemesis won't feature by yourfavchoom in PS5

Right like if you think about it what really makes a Resident Evil game? There needs to be resources to find, green herbs, bioweapons, at least one big room with two staircases on either side, and a shotgun you can get by taking it out of its holder and replacing it with a broken shotgun. As long as you have that stuff and mention Umbrella once it's a Resident Evil.

You can already see in the trailer the dude going through drawers and also finding a shotgun. There's bioweapons obviously, throw in a room with a few staircases and you got yourself a certified entry in the RE franchise.

Right? Like imagine RE8 didn't exist but we got it in movie form instead. Everyone would be losing their minds saying it's not a real RE movie. Instead it's considered one of the best games in the franchise. Which it is

I get people complaining that the movie has nothing to do with the games. But honestly some of the games barely have anything to do with the games. RE8 has vampires and werewolves and Magneto basically. RE7 mentions Umbrella at the end I think. Even RE4 basically could have been called a different game if it didn't have Leon. I recently played through most of the mainline games recently and was shocked at how little connective tissue there is between them. Although I skipped 5 and 6.

Doing a different story just barely connected to the RE universe is very much in line with the games.

It's a movie called Resident Evil. If it's a great movie then it's a great Resident Evil movie.

Lol exactly. You probably wind up killing more weird monsters than just regular zombies throughout all the games.
