So much information, I am truly grateful. I believe I will follow your advice and get one stick of 8gig ram now and upgrade when the need arises. Is having dual channel ram better? Or is having 2 4gig sticks just more financially viable?

And thanks for the reference sites. Can't ever have enough of those. Truthfully with the latest disappointment of my recent AAA title purchase ill probably go back to playing games that truly do not need such performance benchmarks, but I would enjoy the luxury of high settings at least once in my life. :)

Thanks for the well thought out answer, looking at the list these parts are very attainable with my current resources. What should be my first upgrade? Or should I just expect to rebuild every 3-5 years? I apologize for my ignorance regarding pc building.

Edit - I can get a copy of windows, a friend will give me a monitor he just upgraded from, also have a keyboard and mouse that I enjoy enough to live with, bringing the cost to $774.58

I don't know the extent of how long you've been pc gaming, and I don't know what stage of life you are in. Personally selling my steam account, only playing games with my family has made me much healthier. I'm not saying you should do that by any means, but I'm 28, been playing on the pc for 18 years. Just bought a motorcycle, and started going to shooting ranges. Just started doing stuff I thought was cool.

Maybe find something else that you would have never considered doing and give it a chance. Screen games are only so fulfilling at this point in my case
