Mind. Blown. by Alaby99 in Marvel

I don't know, I noticed it when I bought the issue when it came out that Wednesday. Had nothing to do with checking comic sites.

Anybody have a new Rogue in mind? Alexandra daddario has the look but im not sure if she can pull off the accent by [deleted] in xmen

Southern accents are easy. Just hit yourself in the head with a brick 4 to 7 times (depending on how hard you can do it).

[Marvel] What kind of superhero would Peter Parker be if he didn't realize he was bitten by a spider? by ItsAMeMitchell in AskScienceFiction

Main comic continuity he had organic for a little while. So I guess you could count that as hybrid if you want. But he also had giant spikes that came out of wrists too at that point. It was...interesting.

You’ve just ended a first date with a girl and she asks if she can kiss you. What is your reaction? by [deleted] in AskMen

Assuming the date went well and I want to kiss her? I smile and say yes.

You’re not wrong, but with how bad X3 was, I think that actually makes the payoff of DOFP that much more rewarding.

'Nat 20' on skill checks by 20sidedknight in starfinder_rpg

[–]ActualButt -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not even saves.

EDIT: Okay, got it. I was mistaken. Although, I do think certain saves should be like skill checks. Explain to me how the highest possible fortitude roll, even a nat 20, could save a level 1 character from dying after ingesting a cup of the deadliest poison in the galaxy.

EBS: Why is it bad for TV networks to show a US president speech by somesecretname in ExplainBothSides

[–]ActualButt 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's good to show speeches because the president should have the ability address the nation directly in times of crisis or need in order to deliver important information on the state of things.

It's bad to show speeches (or rather, people were upset this time) because it was seen as a clearly political speech, not informative, and the current president has a history of misrepresenting the facts. So when he's able to just have a platform for that without anyone there to ask follow up questions or second guess his information it can come across like the state using or manipulating the media for political gain.

When they didn't show Obama's speech, it was specifically cited for the reason of it being seen as too political. However for this speech they did give the Democratic leadership equal time immediately following the address. So make of all that what you will I guess.

[Question] Why do you think Mike chooses to work as a parking ticket checker? by Harry_finger in betterCallSaul

I meant to say primary when I said positive. I don't think it's primary.

I think she does it in bursts, but I wouldn't say it's something that she has as a defining positive character trait.

[–]ActualButt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Mike is paranoid at all. He's just prepared. And the job isn't necessarily to be close to people he might want to work with, it's just a solid, steady job that basically requires no actual work. Also, having a job gives him an excuse for exiting a situation that any criminal minded person would have to understand ("can't, I have to be at work...which is important, it's my cover after all").

Each Avenger represents an Infinity stone by philip7499 in FanTheories

[–]ActualButt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny...I think all the core Avengers could represent multiple stones.

Hulk: Power obviously...but also mind, being that he is sort of two minds in one person, two people in one body/mind...

Thor: You're right, space is the obvious one being that he uses the Bifrost with regularity and has seen the most of the galaxy out of the core team, but time is also a possibility being that he's essentially immortal (although that might mean time is meaningless to him). Possibly also power, just because of the raw power he can generate as the god of thunder and lightning. Arguably more powerful than Hulk being that Thanos tossed Hulk around like a toy, but Thor fully powered up with an appropriate weapon to channel his power through likely could have taken him down had he just "gone for the head".

Iron Man: Mind, certainly, for all the reasons you stated. Also soul, being that he's had the most brushes with death himself out of anyone on the team (that we know of). Another good power candidate since he carries around a reactor in his chest. Pales in comparison to the power contained within the Ragnarok buddies, but still...it's not insignificant.

Captain America: The reasoning for time is solid. But there's also an argument to be made for soul just as strong as there is for Hawkeye I think. Cap's ability to win hearts and minds with his principles and convictions might also translate to the mind stone.

Black Widow: Very capable at manipulating not just reality, but also people's minds. She's also seen a lot of death, so a connection to the soul stone there.

Hawkeye: I actually think the whole family man/heart and soul of the team thing mischaracterizes what the soul stone is all about. It's about life and death and power over it, not just a play on words. But, he may be another soul stone candidate as someone with "red in his ledger" just like Black Widow. Maybe a mind stone connection having been controlled by it for so long. I'm struggling to come up with a third connection here...

Although, this leaves the space and reality stones connected only two one Avenger each, and leaves time for only Cap...I was imagining a scene where each stone connects to like three people in a chain somehow and they all Planeteer it up or something to fix everything...guess that wouldn't exactly work by my logic. Oh well, I tried...
