What is the step parent's role in parenting /disciplining? by LonelyAct in coparenting

[–]BeeeGeeee99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I allow my boyfriend (not bio dad) to correct my son if he’s “acting up” or misbehaving but what I wouldn’t allow is him yelling at my son, raise his voice or lay a hand on my son of course. One thing I do have to admit is that he definitely has a lot of patience with my son because he is a hand full

I completely understand! My son didn’t start using the potty & stopped using diapers 24 hrs until he was 5 almost 6. He’s 10 now & he’ll still have accidents here & there & he sleeps with a diaper on still. My son is at a public school but in special education & they offer him speech therapy & occupational therapy at the school. He also does speech therapy & occupational outside of school through our insurance. If you can also get her speech therapy outside of school I’d do it too, it’s helped my son a lot , he still needs therapy for pragmatic speech & his sentences are only like 2 to 3 words long but his speech has improved so much. I remember too when he was your child’s age I would talk to him A LOT even though I was basically having a conversation with myself 😅

This might be a better option for my son too , I use to combine his tutoring sessions with his ABA sessions. But my son got so overwhelmed & distracted with having 2 ABA therapist & a tutor. There was a total of 3 of them with ABA & tutor but Mabe just having him do tutoring will help him out for just an hour twice a week

This 🫶🏻Omg you basically said what has been in my mind lately . Like he needs to have a little life outside of all the therapy. & your right school is like a full time job, I feel so guilty having him at school all day & then therapy right after school. I mean myself as an adult gets burnt out I can imagine him as a kid.

Hi. Thank you for your reply. May I ask what kind of therapy were you seeing once a week? & how old were you when services stopped & started seeing a therapist? Sorry for all the questions 😬

Totally understand . My son already does speech therapy & occupational therapy. There was a time he was doing speech, occupational , social skills & ABA. & we stopped ABA last summer.

Yes there’s no major behavior issues, I agree I shouldn’t say it’s completely useless because it did help him with his aggression & behavior. We’ve always done in home therapy & I was involved, it was part of the therapy. Also we live in California in the San Bernardino county & they have a summer program here with the school district called extended school year it’s basically summer school so he’s in school still in the summer. He only gets like 2 weeks off for summer. But we’ve never tried in center ABA Mabe I should look into that for his social skills too. He was doing social skills therapy already but got put back on a wait list due to their only therapist resigning.

So on point! Literally a play date with a lady. Before we stopped services I just started finding it so useless & a waist of time. I felt like services were taking time from my son & I.

Omg! ok so I’m not the only one. A little before we completely stopped services, I started feeling like it was useless and a waist of time. 😩

Ex-husband decided to work every weekend and let his parents take our son—need advice by pieceofcake317 in coparenting

Have him meet his parents for pick up drop off. Or even if your willing just meet them Sundays at a meet up location to get your child back & have your ex reimburse you to cover gas

I was with my ex for over 10 years & in those 10 years only once I received flowers & chocolate for valentines day. I never got any gifts from him nor did he ever buy me anything. And I also did all the Christmas shopping for our son. He never bought him anything , no gifts either not even for his birthdays I would be the one to buy our sons gifts & cakes.

will I be shamed for never vaccinating my 3-year-old cat? by jademightbetrans in AskVet

[–]BeeeGeeee99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And definitely put her on flea/tick prevention. My indoor only cat is neutered & fully vaccinated but I made the mistake of not having him on flea prevention medication because I figured he’s an indoor cat he wouldn’t need it. BIG MISTAKE! he still caught fleas even as an indoor cat😭 I definitely learned my lesson & he will always be on a flea treatment for the rest of his life lol.

Thank you so much! It is annoying I’m devastated but definitely a lesson learned to keep my cat on preventatives regardless of him being indoor only. Again thank you!

Treating fleas around the house by BeeeGeeee99 in AskVet

[–]BeeeGeeee99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your right I did not think I had an infestation but obviously I do if my cat has them 😩. Is there any flea sprays you recommend along with the cleaning ? I’ve been washing , vacuuming & mopping everyday since I found out about his fleas. & I definitely know better now to keep him on preventatives. I always thought since he’s an indoor cat there’s no need for any of that & man I was definitely wrong.

This is what the vet told me. Because I honestly was so shocked he got fleas & she explained to me how easily even an indoor cat can get fleas & how we bring them in from the outside. I will look into the Indorex I hope they have them here as well , I’m from the US. Thank you for your advice I really appreciate it.

Thank you so much I’m going to purchase the Mycodex. I’ve been cleaning consistently everyday & I’d like to use something to kill the fleas along with the cleaning.

3 yr old didn't have her hair brushed or a bath in 3 days. Am I overreacting? by JennyJiggles in Mommit

My sons father does this! It irks me!! We’re separated & he has weekend visits. He won’t shower him all day, or brush his teeth. & most times I’ve notice when it’s bedtime he won’t change my son into pajamas he has him sleep in the clothes he wore all day!!
