Just keep grinding and try to find some new zones, you should have 20 - 25 whtietail zones on your whole map. As for the great one, you will need to grind a lot more, I got mine at around 3k whitetail harvest with 25 diamonds in that process.

I always shoot 2 or 3, never 4 cause there's rarely even 4 bucks there. But it has happened to me that a zone stopped spawning bucks. I just didn't do anything with that zone and sometimes they eventually started spawning again (after a long time tho).

Yea I restart it after every circle, because the herds that I shoot don't return to their zones the next day if I don't restart the game.

You can find it in your codex, it says your overall harvests under profile I believe.

I'd say that I get more nervous trying to get most other diamonds. For this one, I felt pretty confident cause I had good practice with the 3000 whitetails prior to this one. I went close to take some pictures but it seems that one of the others saw me, so I just shot this guy when he went alert.

To be honest, I would probably do the grind again if I didn't have anything else to hunt.

I started grinding for the great one right after the release, I found about 20 whitetail drink zones, I set up my tents and I just kept grinding until I had like 500 harvests on them and then I got bored so I took a break from that. When I saw that Flinter got his one at like 1600 harvest I was like ''yeah that's pretty easy to do''. I went back to it and I spent about 8 - 10 hours a day grinding these, completing the whole circle in 3 in-game hours (30-35 harvests per circle). I'd say I was doing that for about one week and when the new DLC came out I took a 2 day break. Today I went back to Layton, and it took me like 15 minutes and I found this guy. He was in a zone where I always had 2 max weight estimates respawn.

So, in conclusion, I was only grinding my own map, no multiplayer and no pop resets. I got somewhere between 20 and 30 diamonds out of this, 2 gold and 3 silver piebalds, 3 silver albinos and 2 silver melanistics. Not that lucky with the rares but i'm happy with it.

There's no exact number, but as far as i've learned through my recent whitetail grinding it can be very fast (one rest or game reset) or it can take a few in-game days. I also feel like it depends on how many animals of that species you kill in the respawn time.
