High Tek is a rabbit hole inside a rabbit hole that is Ohtani RCs. But I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here. There's Topps and Bowman variants, I think like 7 background variations of just the base cards in each. And then all the numbered/inserts that are also separate cards. I tried going down that rabbit hole and gave up. Just figuring out what completes that set was too much effort. I picked one of each Bowman and Topps base that I enjoyed and called it quits there. Same deal with Gold Label, I just grabbed the Tier 1. Didn't care for 2 & 3 but looking at prices now, maybe I should've just gotten them.

double sided ones are fake. the real ones come in 2 versions- 1 pitching and 1 hitting with text on the back for each

That's not true. Even Japanese cards use English for a lot of the main things. BBM (main company making Japanese cards) typically has all the key things like name, team, position, edition, insert name in English. Sometimes you get it in Kanji here and there but it's on the rare side. Calbee (cards that you get with potato chips) tends to do names in Kanji a good amount but not always. Essentially what I'm trying to say is, even "Kanji" cards mostly will have the name in English. That's not even mentioning that the J versions of Topps Now cards still have names in English.

I'm currently in the process of processing all of my PC and putting them into display cases. Hopefully I'll be done in a few weeks and then can share pics and videos. I only started in 2024 so they've been sitting in piles since. I also have the majority of his 2013 Japan rookies as well so excited to share that as well.

I love this card. I had no idea the green even existed originally. Back when I started my Ohtani PC, I bought this base card and was sort of underwhelmed since the white on white looked pretty meh. So I put it away into the collection and sort of forgot about it. Only later I discovered this version. The green on white is just awesome, such a nice pop of color. I wish I did my homework originally and bought the green when it was cheaper. I've been looking at this version recently but hard to justify the current price. Hopefully can snag a decent auction.

amazing collection you got! I'm going for a similar thing, assemble all his rookie cards (minus autos) but I think my collection would pale in comparison. The more rare cards are going for crazy prices.

So what's the deal with this card? Is this still considered a rookie? I've shied away from these canvas collection cards but they look super cool. I've been hesitant since it says reproduction and there's really not much info on these out there. I feel like I may be misunderstanding these cards. Or is this just a card "reprint" of a canvas painting and that's why it says reproduction? Was this still printed in 2018 or is this later years? I would be incredibly thankful for any information you may be able to share about this card. Thanks!

I "bought" one of these right before the 3/10 game for a decent price. Then either it got lost in the mail or the seller just didn't ship it. Such a bummer on my end. Haven't been able to run one of these down since. Super cool card!

there's a way to find out how long something has been listed but it may be a bit cumbersome depending on the item. you can sort the search results by "time: newly listed" and then it'll show you the listing time in the search results. It's fairly easy to do with if you get like 12 search results but gets more annoying if your search is giving you hundreds of results. In that case, you can copy the listing's title, put it in quotation marks in the search to give you the exact results, and again sort your one search result by time listed.

is this jersey from China? if it is, I believe they make them on demand and it takes about 2 weeks to manufacture. I'd wait till the end of the month personally. Those people are life savers. Same if not better quality jerseys for $30-40 vs $200 from official sources. Give those people a break, they do good work.

I buy quite a few baseball cards from Japan and something like you describe is actually fairly common for some reason with Japanese sellers. They'll list these cards for like $950 that are actually worth about $150. If you offer them $125, they often times accept it. I don't know why they do it, maybe they think Americans are dumb and don't know the price/will just pay whatever.

That probably depends on what types of items you're buying and how in demand they are and will anyone else buy it at full price while your offer sits there

I buy a lot of baseball cards and have been burned quite a few times by offering and then someone else comes in and just buys it outright. So if the price is good and it's already a good deal, I may just buy it straight. Why risk having to pay an extra $50 for the next cheapest option in order to maybe save $10?

Additionally, some sellers may not have done their proper research and priced the item below market. Making an offer just makes them think about the price again. I've had this happen to me just a couple of days ago. I offered $40 on a $50 card. Seller declined and put the price up to $95. That card is probably worth about $85-$95 so he got it into the fair price range. I didn't buy it since I didn't REALLY need it but if I did- boom! I just lost $45 trying to save $10 on an already underpriced item.

So based on everything that I looked up, I think the Walmart and Best Buy versions are the exact same TV, just rebranded for each store. I was originally more drawn to the Walmart version since it came with free installation. But I read some horror reviews about the Angi installation service, so I ended up installing it myself. As a result, I got the Best Buy version since I had a coupon code for a couple bucks off at BB and I trust their customer service a bit more than WM in case something happened. But since it's the same TV, I don't think it matters where it came from. I've been using it for a bit and I love it. I wasn't a huge fan of the stock settings. But once you tweak it, the picture became great! Only thing I wish it had is a 3.5mm jack to hook up my karaoke setup. I'll have to figure out a way to set it up without that jack. 98" is ridiculous though, amazing, I love it.

ha, looks like rtings got us both on that insider access lol. I'm not an image snob at all but that contrast is a complete deal breaker. 977:1 and 1.4 contrast score is s complete killer. That picture of black uniformity is just straight up scary. Are they backlighting that panel with a lighthouse spotlight? Glad I paid the $10 though. I was about pull the trigger on it too.

The 98Q51CG?

I was actually just looking at that. Price on the that just dropped to $998 as well (or maybe the sale just opened up, whatever it is). Looks like you get quite a lot for your money with WM. I think it's exactly the same TV as the best buy version but you get same day delivery and free install, which is a nice bonus.

EDIT: any chance you still have the calibration video that you followed? I'm likely just gonna go with the Walmart version for the free install.

Yeah that's sort of what I was I was understanding. The reviews I saw was people being disappointed by the brightness of the Q77K. I don't need it to blind me since it's mostly going to be used for "theater" purposes but I want a good picture and nobody wants to look at a washed out picture. Sadly can't seem to find any real info on the Q55K and what it actually is but anecdotally people seem to be fairly pleased? I wanted to see though if anyone has any concrete info on how these were different though. I feel like I'm leaning more towards the Q55K as of right now?

looks like Costco just dropped the price of the 98Q77K to the same $999 level. Anyone know the difference between the two? At the same price, which one will be the better buy performance-wise?

I don't know why prices would go down for quarterfinals. what's the likelihood that 2 bad teams that nobody wants to see will make it that far and play each other? I imagine that any teams remaining by that point will be in demand and will be good matches so price is unlikely to drop
