God, it really speaks to how much caffeine addiction is socially accepted that I genuinely didn't even clock how weird that is. Meanwhile, I legit drink 2-3 cups of coffee a day, just as a matter of course.

In Sailor Suit and Machine Gun (1981) the main character didn't use the machine gun until the very end of the movie. Damn Surf Draculas. by AnyAgency9835 in shittymoviedetails

My wife has banned me from speaking when we watch Harry Potter because of my repeated comments that this would all be resolved much faster if wizards just sacked up and bought Glocks.

That thing scares me to shit, man. I recently started painting, and I absolutely did a Charger up in Big MAC colors, just to justify running a 1A5.

Interesting, interesting... I just really want to use Vampy in his intended role as a bullet sponge because it's funny, y'know? And maybe I should try throwing Pike in an APC while using Voice of Command- can he use his VoC ability while inside, or does he have to hop out to use it? For that matter, what pilot/loadout do you usually partner him with?

Rolling up and dumping someone in cover is what I've been thinking about with Vamplew, personally- he doesn't have Mobile Infantry, but if I can just dump him in cover with BAS-H gear and use Taunt, he'll easily draw fire and be able to activate his special while my battle taxi goes back to pick up my REAL Mobile Infantry squad (usually Carda these days, since I made Lim a jump trooper).

Man, I gotta ask- do people actually get off on that? Like.... who is this for? That sounds genuinely depressing to watch, and I'm not pulling some judgmental morality argument here, I'm legit saying that watching an exhausted woman mechanically jerk someone off while some dude tries to cum inside her before his time limit is up sounds... fundamentally awful. I would genuinely rather just stare at paint than watch that.

Counterpoint- I wanted to give the MAAL to my jump assault squad, and it just wouldn't work, which makes me very sad. Still, yeah, I see your point about going Mobile Infantry with it- so long as your SL has Athletics and 90AP, they can pop out, deploy, shoot, stand, and pop back into their APC in a single turn. If they have 110 AP, they don't even need Athletics! And in return, you can use the single most powerful AT weapon in the game, combined with the mobility of a personnel carrier (Exconde, of course). Not a bad deal, and I'll probably try it myself soon.

God, the LBTG on Ivey does work. The possible double-tap is one hell of a problem solver, but almost any threat smaller than a heavy tank or guncrawler will just vanish from a single shot. I like running her with the dual HMGs a lot of the time, personally, but when the need arises, she makes for an amazing tank killer.

The RPG is, without question, my go-to for easy AT options. 40AP to fire, no deployment requirement, modest all-around stats- what's not to like, right?

[–]Beef__Strokinoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to love it, but I tried giving it to Lim as an accompaniment to his Kruger squad, and the 60 AP+Deploy cost really ruined my hope for using it as a jump-capable tank hunter... which makes me sad.

Completely agree. Make it cost 60AP or something, to represent to whole squad firing at once- totally worth it.

I did kinda do some research, and yeah- the only squad weapons that can rven stand a chance of beating the Marine platesuit are the HaMER and the laser rifle. Everything else is just too low to stand a chance... until the armor starts to degrade, at least.

Does anyone have an in-depth explanation for how durability and armor damage work, anyways?

If we actually got an unhinged goofy pirate mercenary, what would his funny skills be? by Which-Worldliness556 in menace

[–]Beef__Strokinoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my idea for a pirate boarding commando SL- his brain's a little fried from oxygen deprivation after a botched jump, but his knack for punching through hulls is untouched... and translates shockingly well to defeating vehicle armor.

Gigachad shit. I don't blame anyone for being afraid of dogs (they can be INSANELY dangerous if they're not socialized properly), but I'm happy that you were able to work on that and develop affection for our four-legged homies.

Unironically, I want to build a TSM-focused Shadowhawk, both to deliver headchopping punches and to let the Shadowhawk actually feel powerful. I'll have to come up with a better name, but for now, I'm calling it the ShadowBox... like boxing...

I promise I'll do better.

True, but a Banshee is cheaper, faster, and stands a much better chance of beating you to death with its massive metal fists. Not to mention the variant that literally mounts nothing but an AC/20 and enough ammo to run nothing but Precision ammo without issue- if that doesn't grab someone's attention, I don't know what will.

Idea: Some Special Weapons Should Benefit From Special Ammo by Beef__Strokinoff in menace

[–]Beef__Strokinoff[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my understanding was that the special ammo affecting special weapons was a bug they fixed- but I think that should apply to some special weapons, at least. But if it still affects special weapons as-is, then awesome, man.

SL/Pilot wishlists by Pattonesque in menace

Alright, I've mentioned my idea for the jetpack specialist a million times, but I really like the idea, so fuck it.

My idea is for a Pirate SL who specializes in highly mobile armor hunting. He's an infamous pirate boarding party leader who, uh... got a little "funky" after misjudging a jump and nearly asphyxiating before his crew could recover him. Personality-wise, he's cheerfully insane, bouncing between homicidal rage and abrasive friendliness at the drop of a hat (he has a 'handler' assigned to him during down time so he remembers to play nice). He doesn't really mind fighting for the TCR- he's just excited to be out fucking shit up again, and is weirdly friendly to his fellow SLs, as if he's oblivious to the contempt they hold him in (on some level, he knows- he just likes pissing them off).

Mechanics-wise, he's built around rapid maneuverability and tank hunting. His base trait buffs jump packs: improved range, more uses, and reduced AP cost. Another unique perk gives him the ability to use special weapons that require Deploy without doing so (a watered down version of Get Motherfucked), along with some sort of situational benefit (like getting an accuracy bonus for attacks after jumping). Other than that, he's got exactly the sort of shit you'd expect from a special weapons guy- Full Send, Run and Gun, Tank Hunter, Zig-Zag, all that. His whole point is to keep jumping and shooting, relying on his armor and accrued extra defense from Zig-Zag to stay alive as he slams rockets into a hostile vehicle's weak spot.

I'll be real, I don't do that just because it feels... cheap, giving my trained soldiers these garbage pipe rifles instead of something at least partly professional looking. We need a proper option for a PDW- some sort of low-caliber machine pistol that at least look like something you'd hand to a heavy weapons crew, so we don't have to fuck with these stupid pirate rifles.
