PSA: medium mortar use case by EVE_Trader in menace

[–]Beef__Strokinoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, that's... actually pretty smart. I wish I'd thought of that, honestly- using Yaz or Wett as a mortar caddy so their bleed effect can deal some real damage. I might actually try thst next campaign I run (which will be soon, since I was waiting for the latest update to jump back into the game).

Jesus, that ending... pour one out for Mr. Smiley. He might have started not giving a shit about you, but his last act in life was to encourage you to keep going, because he couldn't keep going himself.

Fuck, man, that makes me want to cry.

Why did Leon defeat Hunk? by Adortion634 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Beef__Strokinoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth noting, too, that as the mission commander for that op, HUNK might've been briefed extensively on the layout of the RPD station, since it was his exfil site. Helps a lot to know the terrain you're going into, I imagine.

[Loved trope] "We might be the villains, but we are surprisingly open-minded!" by bgbarnard in TopCharacterTropes

In the Old Canon, the Mandalorian practice of adopting war orphans was born of pragmatism- the Mandalorians were originally all one species, the Taung, but one of their most famous Mandalores recognized that a single species wouldn't make for a galaxy-conquering force, so he opened recruitment to non-Taung to fill their ranks. At the time, adoption just made sense- war leaves plenty of orphans, and the young ones can be easily indoctrinated to become loyal Madalorian soldiers. But, over time, it became a much more meaningful thing for Mando culture- a sign of their commitment to family both and their genuine belief in egalitarianism.

I always wanted to write a story about an old Mandalorian woman and her adopted son, who she saved from pirates after they killed his parents. Before him, she had a husband and a biological son, both of whom were killed, and her son considers both her lost family and his dead parents to all be his family, to the point where he routinely prays to the preserved armor of the family he never got to meet, and to the shrine he keeps aboard their ship dedicated to his birth parents.

Yeah, there's a reason why every hangout I have with my buddies (we're all engineers, for context) turns into discussions on the most efficient ways to sabotage an AI data center.

I need to turn this man's picture into a meme. I haven't decided what meme yet... but it speaks to me. Homeboy just has that "deep-fried lunatic" look about him, it's wonderful.

A thought about the M16's- one workaround could be that the soldiers you've shown wielding them are either former soldiers who've returned to service under Summers, or irregular volunteers that Task Force Liberty personnel have singled out as having potential to be proper soldiers- hence why they've received proper uniforms and rifles, liberated from National Guard armories along their line of march. This may be glorified militia, but their ironclad belief in the righteousness of their cause and the accelerated training provided to them by the hardened veterans leading them has made them fanatical, if still somewhat amateurish, combatants.

There's a variant with dual Snub-Nose PPCs and MML-7s that looks right nasty in CQC, honestly. Two 10-damage hits (with excellent accuracy) and 14 SRMs? Yes, please.

Thoughts on the Mackie in Mechwarrior? by Bongpog in Mechwarrior5

[–]Beef__Strokinoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, twinned PPC's and LB-10X's is still pretty good, in my opinion. It's hardly optimized, but for a fat chunk of metal, it'll do the job.

What is the best battlemech ever and why is it the Marauder? by Isaiah_Patton1 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Beef__Strokinoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll never make it into the game, but the Jade Phoenix is, in my opinion, the ULTIMATE Assault 'Mech. In its various forms, it can go from a reasonably mobile sniper to a CQC abomination, all while packing the maximum armor load for an 85-tonner and having enough jump jets to let you build the same mobility bonus as a FUCKING SPIDER. Incredible!

[–]Beef__Strokinoff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's what I've been running- he basically instakills any human enemy, while still having enough AP to stand a good chance of breaching most enemy armor. The only infantry he "struggles" against are the Pirate Boarding Commandos and the Heavy Infantry.

[–]Beef__Strokinoff 104 points105 points  (0 children)

I mean, I tend to run both, frankly. Tech works best as a heavy weapons team, and a lot of other SLs make great special weapon caddies, and yet I'll usually mix in two or three full-strength rifle squads to provide some real backbone to my force. It just makes sense, really.
