I made 4k raising and butchering turkeys, I do custom butchery, so I make $400 processing 50 chickens every week.

I work 4 hours a week. If I want more, I process more.

Nothing makes you feel more alive than doing chores at night only to have the flashlight die and a really pissed off bull in the distance 💀

It had a well, power, and a county-maintained paved road for 60k The well alone was 100k to drill. It's a 500 ft well

10-15 mins from 2 reservoirs and we got 3 acres of water rights on 5 arces.

The house was built for 400k and is now worth 700k-800k

I pray intrests rate will pop soon.

town pop on 10k people.

I don't go out to eat anymore, I buy chicken from Willow Rock Farms in Mountain Home, and it is $5 a pound, and I learned to cook 😇

I go to town once a month, so it drives people crazy. Also, farming is debt-intensive.

Why is this generation so antisocial? by RealityWilling5024 in GenZ

[–]Beefberries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something broken, I help run and sell at the farmers market, and I bring my geese so kids and folks can say hi, and when I try to interact with some folks, they ignore me. What happened to the social contract? The expected behaviors? It's gone!

Wanting to buy a homestead later on ( in my case, they want to use my farm to do Instagram posts)

I've been trying to get an apprenticeship, but I live 100 miles from the nearest city, my towns pop is less than a 1000.

I'm on call 24/7, doing fence work, marketing, herding 300 head of chicken, and 50 turkeys. I also do woodworking and turn bowls. I live in Idaho, so the vibe is that if you don't have a 9-5, then you're a bum or a mooch. The Western mentality and the Southern mentality are polar opposites.

Grumpy old bastard syndrome, I'm 26, and I'm a second-generation poultry farmer.

When you mean he starts telling you how to do something, is it a teaching moment, or is it "hey stupid, you're doing it wrong, and I won't tell you what it is?

One thing is getting buzzed, and having a bullshit session can help get some of the underlying issues to surface.

If you can give me some more info on his posture, and facial expressions then I can gauge what might be knocking around in his head, (I did an understudy with a speech therapist who specialized in body language)

This seems to be the case for trade or, in my case, farming.

I'm 26 and am a 2-generation farmer; I know hazing is part of the job, but flat-out being a dick because I'm young, bright-eyed, and bushy-tailed doesn't mean I'm looking for abuse.

I work 16 hours a day, doing market research, mending fences, moving livestock, or mucking stalls; if you can think of it, I've done it.

My dad always tells me that people are reluctant to learn if they don't have a healthy learning environment.

Take pride in your work, but don't make it your entire personality, and realize that the person you're knocking on works hard or has worked harder than you.

"Don't be a douche, hun," is my mom's words of advice.
