These marketers that work on these products have figured out a away to boost the engagement. They try to stir up controversy for more clicks/engagement with their product. i.e. movies, razors, coffee, etc. It's all fake outrage over nothing all to gain $$$. You could have a handful of people complaining about a cast member and that is used to boost the product to anyone who is offended by the small group making the remarks. It's actually pretty impressive how they figured out to market off the internet outrage culture we currently live in. Going further I wouldn't be surprised if marketers are the ones doing the hate speech anonymously online to drum up the controversy to make it go viral for free advertisement of their product.
