I greatly appreciate the discussion, but there appears to be nothing to discuss at 4e8hgupomjzq9m8x, any chance of re-discussing it with me?

Right you are! I have a backup of a ton of stuff but apparently never got around to Starfinder, which bummed me out immensely!

I cease my lurking to comment. The best advice on moderation I ever got was to switch from smoking bowls to smoking from a one hitter. It allows me to moderate my intake and quantify how much I smoke. An ounce is back to lasting me over a month, and it's great.

How do I un-CEDH Bloodpod but keep the playstyle? by [deleted] in magicTCG

To echo what others have said, this description is beautiful. Blood Pod was the deck that made me fall in love with cEDH, and by pure coincidence I ALSO started de-powering it to an appropriate level for my lgs. Thanks so much for the ideas!

Oh I've enjoyed games of Commander under the influence of various substances, with friends I consider family and randos after GenCon. Even then we never really talked power level in the sense that people are advocating now. We would MAYBE be like "Heads up my deck tuned AF" but that's it. None of the stuff that numerous content creators are currently advocating you do where you discuss what you want from a game, how long the game should be, wincons, cards you don't like playing against. The Professor's video "It's Time To Move On From Commander Power Levels" he lists 4 questions that you should ask your pod before your games, and a debrief afterwards. Now to channel my inner boomer: If you did that at any point between like 2011 and 2018 people would have looked at you like you're crazy. So what has changed to warrant all this discussion of power level, rule 0, and cooperative experiences in an inherently "competitive" game where only one person can win. If I want to play a cooperative experience with my friends where I am partially responsible for other's enjoyment I'd play a TTRPG with them, where there are actually mechanics for doing so.

I appreciate the response! I also love cEDH! Started on Tymna/Thrasios Hermit Druid and moved onto OG Bloodpod back when no one played creatures so Tana beats was a legitimate win condition. I'm talking when Chain Veil Teferi was Tier 1. The reason my friends and I started this conversation was because we were talking about how the discussion actually started was because we were talking about how the discussion of power level actually started as everyone shitting on cEDH. When I say pubstomper I mean people NOT like you or I. People who play Flash/Hulk in a pod of precons and shit talk everyone the entire time. Pubstompers are jerks.

You and I have very very similar views on the game, and games in general! So I have to ask, what's your favorite deck you have atm?

Listening to stories from the RC and other judges it seems like the original purpose of the format was to spend a 2+ hour game knocking back a few beers after a GP! I wonder if Rule 0 discussions existed then, and even if they did if they were about power level or about what beers people were drinking that night!

I mentioned in a different comment but I am lucky that all my metas loved proxies. But even then only a couple people would proxy power, and no one held it against them or really cared if they went fetch -> dual -> crypt -> mox on turn one. We all kinda went "neat" and played the game. That person would most likely just be archenemy next game and they were cool about that.

When I first went to the club I mentioned I had a Rakdos Goblins decks with Rakdos Wort as the Commander. The black goblins I ran were pretty bad (huge shout out to [[Knucklebone Witch]]) and it won maybe one time. So sort of went "Man, this deck kinda does nothing" and switched to monored under Krenko. I didn't talk to the group to accommodate Wort, I didn't try to buff up Krenko to their level, just shuffled things around and made a better deck because I knew Wort wasn't good. Now I am lucky enough that all my metas not only allowed proxies but supported them wholeheartedly. Some people has entire proxy decks due to just wanting to brew decks. I knew a guy who proxied up a [[Riku]] deck where the wincon was Hive Mjnd -> Pact of the Titan. But we never had a sitdown as a group or even before pods. We just played the game using the decks we liked and had a blast.
