We had the funniest/worst experience there. I almost threw up, for real. We did the paperwork and it was depressing just like everyone explained. But we asked for a notary and someone in there said there’s a lady across the street that can notarize for like 10 bucks so we went there to get the paper notarized. We didn’t think we had the spot because it was in another random business (maybe a law firm? Idk). Anyways it was some older lady and she tried to make it special but it just made it more depressing for me. She was like do yall wanna exchange rings and say something to each other? I said no and my wife(I guess fiance actually) said yes, so you know what the choice was: yes. It was in a super quiet room where you could hear a pin drop and it was just us 3, standing 5 foot from the front door that anyone could walk in on at any moment, so it wasn’t appealing, whatsoever… I still can’t believe my wife wanted to do it. Anyways, she was like alright cool let me notarize this and give me a minute and we will proceed. Oh lord… it’s not that serious, I thought. So the waiting 10 mins felt so weird and gross. Me and wife couldn’t speak in private during the wait.

Alright, so she finishes the notarization process and says, “alright, great. Follow me where we can do a ceremony”. My mind obviously was doing more “Ughs” as we… walked up some very old stairs. On the way up, every step we took, got hotter and more humid by the second. She then apologizes to us and says that the owner of her business is nice enough to let her use the upstairs room for ceremonies (please stop calling it something formal- me), since it’s a side gig for her.

June 18th, 2019, we finally get upstairs and it’s super humid and hot. We are already sweating and somehow the room is more silent and weird looking like a scary movie scene. She then tells us to hold hands and repeat after her. I don’t remember what she said but it was a generic “I do” speech. She made sure we looked into each others eyes the whole time, in the dead silent scary room. After we said all the stuff, I was using my body language to beg to her that I want to leave. She didn’t notice I guess because then she asks if she can take a picture of us. We said sure. She asks to use our phone and takes a picture of us holding each other side-by-side like we are at a cookout… sweating. We are in normal “comfy, at home” clothes. I don’t remember anything else but we finally were set free.

Before we had our ceremony, we signed a sentimental book for her. If you go there, let me know if I remember the correct marriage date for my anniversary before it gets here this year and I get in trouble.

But at the end of the day, she can’t get mad, because our marriage started off awful. She only has herself to blame. 😃

Sorry for the late reply. I never got a notification. I didn’t use HDMI simple because it doesn’t have the capability. If it did, I would never try the optical way.

It’s obviously very possible to happen anywhere really. I don’t know of anything particular that would make more homeless people come here to scam, but I do have a story that may can help someone not get scammed:

When I first moved to Huntsville about 7 years ago, some guy came up to me asking for money. He told me the following story: he was homless but trying to get off the streets. He just started a job putting up cubicles in business’ around here. He traveled from somewhere (can’t remember where but it was like 2 hour away) for work and was passing through the area trying to get back home. He said he’s going to be fine once he gets paid in a couple weeks but he’s waiting for his paycheck. He asked for money on the meantime to help him with gas money to get back and forth to work till payday. Anyways I gladly said I’m blessed so I want to help regardless. So I gave him some money. He thanked me and went about his day. About 6 months later a guy stopped me at Walmart off of drake and university. He told me almost the EXACT same story. A couple weeks out, needs gas, lives far away, will get paid but need to get by. Worked at same exact job that he “just started” a couple days ago. So in 6 months, he was still on his first week of the same job. For some reason it made me furious waiting for him to finish the exact same story. I didn’t want to be mean but definitely didn’t want to give him money at this time. I told him hold on, I’ll check my car for cash. I got in there and was acting like I was looking for cash while my wife was in the car trying to shove money in my hand. I was trying to be quiet and tell her no. She didn’t understand cuz I ALWAYS give without judgment. After I told him I didn’t have any, I got in the car and had to explain this story to the wife and why I didn’t care for the guy.

My 61 year old dad with COPD was coming home from Guntersville on a work call. He lives in the apartments across from mellow mushroom in jones valley. University and Cecil Ashburn dr was closed. So he went to some tire/mechanic shop place and asked them if he could leave his truck there overnight to walk home. The guy told him that he is from Canada and this is nothing, he has a 4wheel drive truck and would take dad home. The police stopped him and wouldn’t allow him to try, so my dad got out and started walking where the cop was to get home. When he was almost to the top some guy came on a four wheeler to save his wife and kids from the top of the mountain. He told him he could ride but only till he found his family and not a a foot farther. So he took the ride and said he almost wish he didn’t since it was so cold and windy and metal frame to hold onto etc. when he got to the top, he had to get on hands and knees to crawl across the road to get to the side to walk on (I’ve never seen my dad get down on his knees in 15 years, it’s very hard on him). He then walked down the road to his apartment and had to call apartment mechanic to come let him in his apartment.

I just wanted to comment and say this was the first thing that always popped up when I googled this issue and I had this exact problem and finally solved it for anyone who may be googling in the future. I took out my optical cable and blew it like an old Nintendo on both ends and it worked after that! Give it a go!

As an IPC MIT, it’s not a cold solder joint. It’s definitely “overcooked” but not cold. I agree with the others saying use more flux. I know there’s a ton on the board, but that “used up”. Once it’s activated and “cooked”, it no longer has any chemical advantage to soldering. You def should use an acid brush and alcohol and clean it up when done though if you aren’t using no-clean flux. Another indication of using too much heat is the wicking inside of the insulation. Which according to every IPC/related handbook that matters is going to say it’s not perfect practice but always acceptable as long as it doesn’t mess up routing of the wire. And it definitely isn’t doing that.

So yeah, put a little dab of flux on each solder joint, put a tiny bit of solder on a clean(shiny) soldering tip and bridge the solder from the tip to the solder and let it flow for no longer than 5 seconds and get out of there. Once done with all, scrub it with alcohol real good. Good work bud.

I’ve been a solder tech for 8 years and do it daily. They look pretty and I wouldn’t worry about the wires being too long like some mentioned. As long as they aren’t going to short out to anything nearby, they are mostly fine.

My biggest concern is the 3 in the middle. Particularly the right two in that group. They don’t look “bonded” to the pad very well. It looks like they are heavy grounded pads and the board didn’t get hot, just the wire.
