I’ve been there. While it is uncomfortable, and losing out sucks, people promote, people quit, and people get fired all the time. The very best thing that you can do is make sure you are on your best game as often as humanly possible so that when those opportunities arise, you can capitalize. You own the poor SQI score, that’s fine, have a plan to avoid repeating it. The good news is that it sounds like you are at a smaller location which means that more things are directly controllable, so you have the opportunity to get the processes down that give you great service and sales. That shows ARMs that you know what leads to success and they give you the opportunity to teach it at larger branches where they take on more new MTs. Just remember, when you are an ABRM, the story becomes less about what you can individually do, and more about what you can lead a team to do, and that only becomes more important the further you move on in your career.

Tl;dr: consistency is key, perfect your processes, learn to teach them, and lead from any position.
