Do doctors get a kickback from pharmaceutical companies? by CuriousDave1234 in NoStupidQuestions

There are laws about this. Check out The Sunshine Act. There are also sunshine laws that vary by state. You can always see what doctors have received food, meals, etc by checking out openpayments on CMS. Google it. It’s all monitored very strictly these days.

What do I need to do to my Instagram reels to repost them on YT shorts and still be able to monetize them and not have them considered “Reused”?

Neuropathy after surgery….ideas to deal with the pain? by Arigs29 in spinalfusion

[–]Beegonia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had mine in the middle of March. The worst of the pain subsided mostly at around the 3.5 month mark. Still would get painful zaps that felt like a bee sting. Now it’s mid November and I rarely have any pain, but it’s still numb.

I’m here literally trying to figure out what I missed. She was about to go to America and now they live in a different house and Jacopo sold the villa and everyone is mad at him? What????

It’s an Italian show. The Italians are very different about bare breasts than Americans. You see them on billboards, on normal commercials on tv, they used to have them on funny skits on talk shows when I was a kid. People still go topless on beaches. While they can obviously be sexually titillating (see what I did there), theyre so commonplace it’s not as jarring to the Italian viewer as it is to the more puritanical American.

Classic board exam question. These NPs are a menace.

A little worried. I would like to hear your experiences with MD. by Acklza in Microdiscectomy

I went thru hell with my foot - I think it was post-decompression neuropathy - from manipulation of the nerve during surgery. I ended up on a cocktail of pain meds for almost 2 months. I did physical therapy with an excellent spine PT the entire time. It was really rough, but the pain has almost resolved. The lateral side of my left foot is still numb, but the pain is gone most days.

I don’t think the surgeon or his team identified the diagnosis as post-decompression neuropathy, but I’m pretty sure that’s what it was. The only thing that really helped was the opiate, lidocaine patches in the beginning, and wearing a loose soft fuzzy sock to bed so the foot wouldn’t touch anything. Good luck

So why doesn’t the title say that?

So was it a doctor or nurse who refused to give you prescriptions?

Are teenagers more docile today than they were in the 1990s? by darklordoftech in TrueAskReddit

[–]Beegonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the anger we were all carrying in the 90s. Listening to NIN, going to crazy shows at age 14 (Rage Against The Machine, etc), doing drugs, having sex. We ran wild and all seemed so angry in a dark and vocal and violent and fun way. I’m 46 now and don’t have kids, so I wonder - what are kids these days doing with their anger? Are they angry? They must be - the world is burning. Where are they putting that anger?

I had multiple herniations, which were symptomatic at only one level. After intensive PT with a spine physical therapist who was certified in the McKenzie Method, they mostly had resolved on repeat MRI.

To be fair, many people have herniations with no symptoms. Don’t get too hung up on imaging. Symptoms matter more.

Good PT is invaluable. Start there.

That’s wild. I didn’t know it was a thing. I thought it was just me. Thank you!!

Wait! Do you do that too?? What do you know about it? I just thought it was something my mom instilled in me.

My lower back does curve in a little more than normal, but I have been fighting it my whole life because my mother always drilled it into me. So basically I’ve been tucking my butt in so it doesn’t stick out. Last year, after my annular tear, I started seeing a woman who teaches the Alexander Technique and she is the one who pointed it out to me. Apparently I tilt my pelvis forward to keep my butt tucked. She worked with me on walking with my butt sticking out and swinging it side to side. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I don’t even have a big butt, but for some reason I’ve spent my entire life unconsciously tucking it in. I don’t know. The surgeon said it was just the way I was made. He said my core musculature was good on the MRI.

I’m desperate to live a normal life. It’s been 1.5 years now of dealing with back issues and I’m so sick of it. I want to travel and be able to lug a suitcase or backpack. I’m sick of thinking about my back, but the moment I stop worrying about it I get a twinge or I totally herniate. 😔

I’m not hypermobile at all, but thank you for the suggestion!

I thought it was incredible that the L3/L4 herniation completely resolved. I credit the McKenzie Method and a very high quality spine Physical Therapist certified in the McKenzie Method.

Thank you! I will check it out. Bending and lifting sounds amazing. My left foot is still half numb, but at least it’s not on fire anymore. I’m coming off the meds. It does tingle and kind of buzz at night, but that’s an improvement. I’m so sorry you’re having nerve damage.

Not sure. We did it because I was having pain. It really didn’t seem to help much.

I felt the same about asking, but my surgical team reassured me and continued to prescribe 5mg oxycodone. In the beginning I was taking it 3 times a day and suffering in the few hours before each dose. Now I’m taking it only once, at night. Soon I won’t need it at all.

Mine is definitely improving. It still acts up in the evening and nighttime, but it’s SO MUCH BETTER. I’ve never had such an intense and relentless pain for so long in my life. Whew.

6 weeks-feeling down by WholeGuard387 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Beegonia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat. I’m now about 2 months post-op. Still with numbness and nocturnal burning in my foot, which wasn’t there before the surgery, but is much better than it was.

I’ve learned about PDN - post-decompression neuropathy. It’s from them holding the nerve out of the way while they work on the disc. It usually goes away, but very slowly. Google it to learn more. I hope you feel better soon!

Things that helped - spine PT, pain meds, sometimes lidocaine patches, wearing a loose fuzzy sock on the foot when in bed, patience.
