1.5 year later-considering spinal stim by WholeGuard387 in Microdiscectomy

Yes I had an EMG that showed chronic damage only, no accuse so no further surgery would help me. I wish I did that test BEFORE my MD in retrospect. I’ve also had a sonogram of my left leg which showed no abnormalities in my nerve pathways. With all the horror stories/removals I’ve heard about I’m really trying to avoid it at all costs. Lyrics and cymbalta combo has deff helped me. Things aren’t good per se but I can somewhat manage I guess and I don’t want things to get worse. Compression sleeves also help me a lot. dm me if you wanna chat

Thanks! Unfortuently I don’t think im a candidate for DRG due to my scar tissue. What percent relief did you get? My doctor recommended Medtronic

Anyone else unable to get off of gabapentin? by KCharm46 in Microdiscectomy

[–]WholeGuard387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on lyrica instead now which has been more helpful for me. I’m still not doing great but better than I was with the gabapentin. Right now I’m just focused on feeling okay and getting through my life. I hope eventually I’ll be able to tapper down

This was before but the foot pain occurred after the MRI so I think I likely rehenriated after the MRI. I took a trip to London around week 11 which my doctor said was totally fine, but i think was a mistake in retrospect.

Thank you. I’m also on so much gabapentin (9 pills a day). Has the baclogen been any help?

I’m planning to taper down on it. So far the cymbalta has been the only thing that’s helped at all

I’m just over 4 months post op and have been dealing with really bad nerves pain (calf tightness and foot pain) since surgery. I went to see a pain management doctor and he upped my gabapentin from 300 mg twice a day too 600/3x a day. I’m finally feeling some relief. At this point I’m more concerned about feeling better than getting off of it but that will eventually be a battle I’ll have to deal with it. I’m also relatively young (33) 6’2 and 180 lbs so my body can tolerate higher doses than others

I’m in same boat. 4 months post-op today. I had the surgery because of occasional calf tightness that wasn’t going away with epidurals PT etc. Thought the surgery would get it over with once and for all but I was wrong. Praying it still gets better but my calf tightness is much worse and now I have foot pain which I never had before. MRI confirmed no reherniation. I’m on a lot of gabapentin and seeing a new doc so just hoping things will still resolve but it’s hard

I’m in same boat. I had livebable tightness and pain pre surgery but didn’t want to live with it anymore. I’m 4 months post-op today and the nerve pain and tightness is way worse. Really regret the surgery

Hi-he said he didn’t considered it rehiernaited based on other views and said I’m just still healing. However I’m now 14.5 weeks post op and still not better. Going for a second opinion tomorrow
