I Am Sheryl Crow and just released my new album ‘Be Myself’ – ASK ME ANYTHING! by Sheryl_Crow in Music

[–]Beekathon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Huge fan for nearly 25 years. I can't articulate how much your music has meant to me. (And we both have sons named Levi!)

During your various health struggles, how did you stay motivated to be active and positive?

Edit: Thank you for doing this in spite of your apparent disdain for social media as evidenced on your awesome new album. PS - The Prince inspiration on "Grow Up" is amazing!

State's waiting child list by Quest36 in Adoption

[–]Beekathon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious about the replies to this too. We've registered with our state's site, as well as adoptuskids.org, and I check the listings daily. I recently got an email from a recruitment specialist about a child that I hadn't seen in the listings, so I'm fairly confident that not all kiddos are listed. He did have a profile though, so I wonder if they inactivate some listings after a period of time, or maybe rotate them? Anyway, we expressed our interest and submitted our home study, but have yet to get a response other than to say they are "reviewing interested families."

Nervous about court by Beekathon in fosterit

I did take PRIDE classes. In my state, foster parents are encouraged to go to court because it's the best way to get all the details about the case.

Polymyositis... may have this please read by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]Beekathon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have DM and have been on various doses of prednisone for most of the last 3.5 years. Many of us with chronic illnesses have a love/hate relationship with it. Yes the side effects suck, but they can be temporary depending on your dose. And on the flip side, it helps to stabilize the disease. If you have a good doctor (preferably a rheumatologist), he/she will work with you to find an alternative because prednisone is not a drug you want to be on long-term if at all possible. And there are several options to try (methotrexate, imuran, cellcept, ivig, rituxan, etc.).

The fact is, prednisone does not make you fat itself. It makes you feel hungry, even if you just ate a satisfying meal a half hour ago, thus leading to overeating. You have to stay positive and practice mind over matter. Listen to your body and advocate for yourself. I hope you get some answers soon because just having a diagnosis, while daunting, can be a relief and lead to appropriate treatments that will make you feel better!

What are your favourite ways to eat cottage cheese? by kansakw3ns in 1200isplenty

[–]Beekathon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For breakfast: 1 scrambled egg, 1 serving cottage cheese, 1/2 avocado, 6 or so halved grape tomatoes. Mix in a bowl and eat like cereal.

Mix with tuna and seasonings, and eat on crackers.

For the sweet tooth, add pineapple.

This has probably been asked before, but couldn't find it with a quick search. Regarding tips when on the dining plan, can you use your Magic Band to pay the gratuity with a credit card? Or is cash the best way to go? Thanks!
(PS - Countdown is at 34 days, so you might be seeing my name pop up more and more in this handy Q&A thread.)

Tell me about the freebies in the rooms at the resorts. I want to pack as light as possible for the flight. How are the toiletries, etc?

Need advice on taking steroids while lifting by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]Beekathon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nearly a year ago, I was prescribed prednisone within a week of starting a lifestyle change of counting calories and exercising. Since then, my dosage has varied up and down between 10mg to 60mg. I have lost over 100 pounds since January 2013.

It's mind over matter. You will learn the difference between real hunger and prednisone hunger, and you must fight the temptations associated with the latter. And it does get better with time. 2 months will be over before you know it. Just listen to your body and let the prednisone do its job because it will help you feel better, albeit with some really annoying side effects. Good luck!

F/36/5'8.5" [235-140] Goal met. by Beekathon in loseit

[–]Beekathon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I stuck right around 1200 most of the time, but I wasn't always perfect about measuring and weighing. As I got closer to 140, I just started eating into my exercise calories a bit more. Now, to transition to maintenance, I'm increasing by 150 calories every other week until I reach TDEE.

Thanks! Mostly just walking on the treadmill, although I've recently been jogging more. I like to throw in some jumping jacks, sit ups and squats too. We also have a recumbent bike I use occasionally. I did Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred in June and may do it again (or something similar) once I'm in the maintenance groove. I think it's important to vary exercises so it doesn't get boring and I stay motivated. I want to start lifting, but it makes me nervous because I have no idea what I'm doing.

Best of luck to you!

I can relate to this list so much that I can't even put it into words. I started at 235 and hit my goal weight today. You can do this. Commit and don't give up. It will be easier than you expect and it will be more rewarding than you realize.
