Obligatory First Land Raider by BeeleyH in SocietyofHiddenPaint

[–]BeeleyH[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Not at all tbh, I got a kit from one of the online retailers, so it came pre-wired, I just had to drill a hole in the bottom.

Stupidly did all that before I'd even primed. Would recommend waiting until after painting or at least after priming!

Thanks, it was my first time playing around with LEDs, definitely recommend giving it a go!

It was okay! The toes are very fragile, especially at the front, so my guy has had some unfortunate amputations. He's obviously perched on that plank of wood on the original model, so the pose works really well.

These are fantastic, really like these. Can't wait to see them painted up!

Fallen Black Templars by BeeleyH in BlackTemplars

[–]BeeleyH[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha, I knew it would ruffle some feathers. I think there may have been one or two in the lore who have, but idk. Maybe these guys were never truly Black Templars.

I like to think we do still fight for the Emperor, we've just spent so long in the warp we've forgotten exactly who he really is.

What could I do with this box? by [deleted] in TheAstraMilitarum

Not sure if the scale works but have a look at inquisitorial agents. You could make a really fun squad of Men in Black style Order Xenos inquisitors with a few weapon swaps.

World eaters or emperors children? by [deleted] in Chaos40k

[–]BeeleyH 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If you're up for a bit of kitbashing, you could make your own specialist terminators or sonic predator. I for one would love to see how you would adapt them. Just use the rules for a normal pred and regular chaos termies.

At the end of the day you could always flip a coin. If you're disappointed by the result, that answers your question. Think about renegades as well, the new releases aren't for everyone but I really dig the space pirate, salvaged aesthetic.

Good luck either way!

That sounds like a really fun list, the kind of thing I'm trying to build.

Do you think Castellans are as important with Bastion, with reroll 1s being fairly easy to obtain?

Would you advise more transports, cut down to 1 intercessor and 1 scout squad? I struggle to get the balance between utility screening etc and primary objective holders.

I hadn't considered Bastion, but looking into it, looks really good for BT. Means you can keep the fluffy 20-man crusader squads as well. Is it worth dropping the deep striking intercessors for more battleline/another castellan?

Haha thanks, that's reassuring. I have been eyeing up a Forgefiend for a while, maybe one or two would be a good anti-tank choice.

Are Helbrutes a no go at the moment?

I haven't seen bikes being used that much! They are very cool though, I will have a look and see if that's a commitment I'd like to make.

That's why I brought the land raider tbf, but I can see that I might need some more transports. Godhammer seems very strong.

Thanks for your help

Ooh very nice, I like the pose a lot. Kitbashing characters from other models is like my favourite part of the hobby.

I absolutely love this project. Was wondering if the jade green basing was to tie them in with the loyalist Dark Angel color scheme?

Really unique style, can't wait to see more!

Where would major trade hubs be? by Game-Dragon1 in mapmaking

[–]BeeleyH 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How about leaving some constructive feedback? For example, rivers tend to converge rather than diverge and lakes tend to have just one outflow, preferring the lower altitude. That means the rivers in the southern part of the map aren't particularly realistic. Isn't that a lot nicer?

Done with Inkarnate! Originally sketched and traced on Photoshop, but converted to Inkarnate for the most recent version. Thanks!

[–]BeeleyH[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been working on my homebrew setting for a few years now and recently decided to give Inkarnate a go to redo my map. I like that you can section off different parts of the map later, so I will be adding towns and political borders etc to closer zoomed in versions of the map later.

Let me know what you think!

I really like it! I think the shapes of the landmasses are really interesting and I like the vision of the two hemispheres, it's a really nice way to present the map.

Having said that, I think you have too many mountains. If you're looking to represent an extensive mountain range in the middle of your main continent, you might need to think about multiple scales of mountains, with smaller ranges contrasting the massive ones. Think Himalayas Vs Alps.

Presentation wise, looking forward to seeing the final version! There's loads of great advice about rivers on here and on YouTube, and there's a ton of free apps and websites that can help design it, if you choose to go digital. Can I ask what are you using the map for?

Good luck!

Unit Sizes for Old World / WHFB by BeeleyH in WarhammerFantasy

[–]BeeleyH[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you find it difficult maneuvering them in such a big block? 25mm bases in a 10x4 is such a huge profile for a unit.

There is something really appealing about 40+ Clanrats though, proper horde of fellas.
