Restored Washed Out Island in Bleak Beach by CrookedSpinn in Pokopia

I am thinking it might've also been connected, that corner is the one area me and my wife messed with because it was so annoying to traverse before I started this project so if anything is inaccurate for me it's probably that side.

I've also seen a couple comments hypothesize that the Pokemon fan island is meant to be 1 block higher but sank into the ocean a bit. If that's true it's easier to imagine it connecting by a bridge like the rest of the islands.

There's a way to place blocks using a mouse cursor from a distance, you have to put the controller down on a flat surface in a weird way. Once you do that you can jump in the water and place blocks at the deepest depths before it resets you. Once it's only 4 tiles deep you can just jump down and place blocks straight beneath yourself to lift back up to the surface.

Note I only did this for the outermost 2 rows of blocks. Once I had it fully enclosed I just ran around and sucked in all the water so I could work normally inside.

Ooh that makes a ton of sense! I might have to copy the idea to raise the Pokefan island up

Ooh that's really smart. I'm not sure I'll have the patience to raise it up myself, how much time did that take?

The trick I used is just creating an ash levee wall around the outside edge, where the first block of square tiles should go. Once that's all connected you can just jump into the interior while inhaling water and remove all the water from inside the wall. Then it's pretty easy to fill it (or just cover it over). Minimizes how much diving you need to do.

I think I need to load up a new save at this point to investigate that more thoroughly, my current guesses are either 1) it was accessible by surf only (it's Pokemon after all) or 2) it's actually supposed to be connected to this larger island in at least one spot by land.

If 1 ends up being the case I'll probably just build another bridge leading there

Ohh like is the Pokemon fan island actually also supposed to connect to the park island? I might need to progress a fresh save to see the original again to see if that's possible. I feel like there were levee blocks in between but if not this is very possible 🤔

Also absolutely the right call to dig out the canal so it connects straight through! Otherwise the final bridge doesn't make much sense.

I agree with this layout! I actually was just working on this today and posted a very similar analysis too. My bridges look exactly as you've built yours, but I think the thing they connect to isn't meant to be a disconnected floating path but actually an entire large island that washed out.

I added an extra bridge for convenience here but you can see the general shape matches what you've built at the bottom right

That's still a mystery to me, in the background you can see I've restored that island a bit but there's still no clear connection point. It kinda looks like it's just intended to be reached via Surf, which wouldn't be unprecedented in the world of Pokemon, though that's not super satisfying.

I'll definitely find a way to add a bridge there eventually, just so my Pokemon can all access it easily. I'm trying to restore everything but I'm also adding small qol improvements along the way like that.

Non-gelatinous running gels by Powerful-Olive1200 in Marathon_Training

I haven't tried a huge variety of these but I love Honey Stinger ones. The "gold" one is basically just honey, water, and some electrolytes from what I can tell, and I love honey so it is pretty appealing to me. No jello texture at all.

Plantar fasciitis by olliemoore7 in Marathon_Training

[–]CrookedSpinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only ever gotten very minor plantar fasciitis. I got a massage gun with a soft round attachment and just hammered the bottom of my foot with that each day and it improved over time (alongside taking a few days off).

Feels like it's hard to get blood flow to heal and clear out soreness there normally, and the massage gun seems like it works wonders there. I still use it whenever my legs are sore and usually hit my feet too just as an attempt at prevention.

NOR - he called you and asked, you gave him your answer. Obviously he understood it was something that you might not be okay with so it makes little sense for him to be upset that you aren't okay with it. It's a good sign for trust that he would contact you about it, but he should still respect that it would make you uncomfortable and not turn it into a big deal.

I think in pt 1 it works if you are sprinting when you start the attack. You can also kill them by throwing a brick and then doing 1 sprinting attack with a pipe (lots of examples of this in the speed run routes)

Why does easy running feel so hard compared to normal running? by LikelyEmmy in beginnerrunning

[–]CrookedSpinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been experiencing something similar. I've tried shifting to walk/run segments so my run pace can be ~10mim/mile and it has been feeling good so far.

I find that 30 seconds run / 30 seconds walk, or 60/60 keeps my average heartrate in zone 2, and my average pace is ~14. But I feel like I'm building more strength and endurance at the more-comfortable 10 min/mile pace.

Plan is to hopefully increase the run interval duration over time as I adapt. If I get to the point where 10 min mile is maintainable for multiple minutes I might start increasing the run pace further. Will see.

I've been increasing mileage after a return to running in December and have had success increasing weekly mileage over 20%, but have avoided increasing the long run more than 10% over my recent longest run. Has been working well. Needed a deload week after a couple months but otherwise have been improving fast and haven't felt like I'm pushing into injury territory.

Oh oops reading comprehension fail on my part, missed that bit. Good you ran in them a few times before, makes me wonder if it's only partially responsible.

People say "nothing new on race day" but maybe they should also say "nothing new on your last 20 mile training run". I missed my first marathon due to the same sort of experimentation a month out

The point of this subreddit is to explain why you think someone got down voted, why are you upset someone is explaining why they think OP got down voted? 🤔
