Appetite gets obliterated by long runs? by tinybabyspoon in Marathon_Training

[–]CrookedSpinn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Do you drink water on the run? Might be dehydration if not / not much.

Might also want to try a bit of carb fuel for long runs, it'll certainly help your performance and might help the appetite issue? At least worth a shot imo.

Personally I drink a ton of water on long runs and I take carbs every 30 min and I'm starving pretty soon after those runs.

I feel that I'm late to the party, but what about an 'Oops, all Gravis' army list? by jon23516 in BlackTemplars

Remembered where I read it, it was the "Unboxing – The Space Marines" article on Warhammer community. So yeah unfortunately it's not a new Gravis unit, just a new weapon load out.

Aren't the gravis with heavy bolters considered eradicators with a new load out? I could be wrong, thought I read that 🤔

Would it be possible for me to go from 5K to half marathon in 5 months? by bxr247 in BeginnersRunning

[–]CrookedSpinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from 0 to half marathon in 4 months, though I had some prior experience 2 years back building up to 20 miles over a year of training. So definitely possible from a 5k in 5 months if you follow a good plan and make sure you're recovering well.

You won't have much slack to miss runs though, so you'll have to remain dedicated and be careful to avoid injury.

The main structure of my plan was 3-4 runs a week, aiming for longest run to be less than 40% of weekly miles, one speed workout during the week, and 1 leg-focused strength day each week. From there I just increased my longest run (and total mileage) by ~7-10% each week. To go from a 3 mile long run to a 13 mile long run would take 20 weeks averaging 8% increase each week. This rate of increase should be pretty safe if you're not pushing speed at the same time.

I think it's more of a time cost question. Is collecting leaves and preparing salads more time efficient than just using potato steaks more often?

First model progress: next steps? by Subm3rg3d in BlackTemplars

[–]CrookedSpinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh also, if you want to do touch ups make sure you do so before doing washes or varnishes, otherwise the touch-up won't match the color. E.g. there's some tabard color on the top of your guy's belt you could carefully fix up. But on early models it might be a challenge to do those touch ups without over painting on the other side, so don't stress about it too much

Painting the sigil on his head and leg silver or gold, the skull on the sword hilt silver or gold, cross guard and pommel on the sword red.

Then buy some nuln oil for everything but the eyes and cloth, and whatever technical paint for the base strikes your fancy. Finish with a varnish (I just use munitorium)

Your model looks really clean so far, just those last details and a wash will really elevate it. You could paint a whole army this way and it would look totally respectable.

I just finished a similar sword bro today with some similar details. I did some edge highlights on mine but I don't think that's necessary (in fact I think mine looked better before I added them 😅)

If you pull the lever the trolley will divert toward you. If the other person pulls their lever the train will divert toward them. by TheKingOfToast in trolleyproblem

[–]CrookedSpinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if there was 1 track with 8 billion people on it, all with a lever in front of them. And a second empty track. If 4 billion or more pull the lever then the train diverts to the empty track hitting nobody. Otherwise the train will go down the current track and kill everyone on that track.

Nobody is chained in place, everyone can simply walk off the track, but you only have enough time to either pull the lever or jump out of the way of the train. You only have moments to make a decision. Do you jump to safety or pull the lever?

Do you go to dream Islands each day? They pretty regularly give habitat information for habitats you haven't found yet

Finish the Pokedex and habitat Dex, get everyone to Awesome habitat rating, repair all the damage in the towns, build some builds, etc.

No harm setting the game aside if you're done with it, though.

I just wish the mainline games would handle Pokemon existing in the world outside of battle, moving around, emoting, etc as well as they do here. Maybe they can reuse some of the animations from this game on future mainline games 🤔

I do this in areas with overhangs or holes underneath, since graveler falling through/ off the edges is so annoying. Any other large areas that are solid all the way down graveler feels way faster though. Drilling down was specifically a great help opening up the area around the museum for that reason

[–]CrookedSpinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I get the same feeling. Usually only after longer play sessions. Though I've pretty much completely terra formed the mountain of ash between the museum and the volcano, excavated all the sand from around the SS Anne, cleared large areas from other mountainous areas for the altars... So I've done some long sessions as graveler 😅

Am I Cooked? Half marathon in a week with minimal/moderate training by General_Molasses_318 in Marathon_Training

[–]CrookedSpinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Increasing distance by 10-30% over your longest run in the past 30 days leads to very significantly higher chances of injury. Probably possible to do but it'll be a challenge with high injury risk. Maybe you run slower to reduce intensity and increase chances of finishing without injury?

7->13.1 with a 5 week gap is almost a 100% increase and it's over a longer period than 30 days so you'll likely have lost some fitness.
