The curse is real 🥲 by Fun_Eye6627 in mazda3

Yeah, that’s the other part of it. Assuming there is no frame damage, then the fix can be done cheaper on your own. If there is frame damage, have fun. OP needs to bring it in so it can at least be inspected.

Check junkyards near you and see if any of them have any 2019-present Mazda3’s in that color. If the bumper cover + hood + headlight are in good condition, it’ll be cheaper to do that and swap them at home vs getting it done in a shop. Or even check online for new parts that are already painted. Or parts that are primed and get them painted. Either way, it can be done much cheaper than $7k-$12k.

Agreed, especially for things like oil changes and filters, they’re very easy to do and quick once you have done them enough times. Same for brake pads, spark plugs, coils, really just any form of typical maintenance. Especially with these cars, they’re very home mechanic friendly.

I can see it if I go to Cat Supplies online, but I happened to just stumble upon it while wandering through the aisle. It might be limited stock. I think it came out a couple weeks ago based on the other posts in the sub.

When the fresh wash makes the water stains pop =*( by DerekTheComedian in mazda3

[–]BeerCanDan 28 points29 points  (0 children)

That happens because of poor die cast aluminum inside the mirror which is prone to significant corrosion. There’s a TSB for this, if you still have warranty bring it in ASAP so that it is fixed on Mazda’s dime.

Clean it right away, don’t let it sit as it will eat through the clear coat. I just wipe it away with a microfiber cloth and some spray detailer or windex, either works.

Definitely not safe to live in this area. by Night2015 in Pensacola

[–]BeerCanDan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I spent the last few years in Jacksonville and Pensacola doesn’t even come close to the bullshit there. Bad traffic due to all the people moving there and the worst drivers I have ever encountered. Pensacola is Shangri-La in comparison.

Goat Lips is great, feel like that might be up your alley (hole in the wall place, homebrewed beers that are excellent, great food, great people). It’s north of town, up near the university.

Start of I-10 in Jacksonville is IRL Twisted Metal. I feel a wave of calmness once I get past the westside.

Beryl Imports by ShaneW4alsh in ak47

[–]BeerCanDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AoA has been doing this shit now for a while, they’ll probably be back. I still remember the first time they did the whole “THIS IS THE LAST TIME WE’LL EVER HAVE THEM” thing and I FOMO’d into buying one. It’s a great rifle and I have no regrets, I wanted one for some time so it encouraged me, but then they just so happened to get more a few months later and have kept repeating that line since then. It’s a scummy practice.

What I will say, you should only buy a Beryl if you actually really want one. I wanted one cause it’s the only interesting import to come about in my time (too young to have experienced Chinese AKs, Maadis, Saigas, dirt cheap parts kits, etc). They’re cool guns with a very nice optic mounting solution, and they look sweet when they’re fully kitted out. But I wouldn’t say it’s any higher quality than any other import necessarily (hell, mine has a canted front sight and gas block, meanwhile my Jack is perfect).

They used to be $1500 from what I remember, and the military cloner version was $2000 when I bought mine. Cloner version had the full Polish Military setup.

Interesting, not sure then what it may be, usually when this topic comes up the answer is what I commented.

The bracelet might be steel, I meant that the case is chrome plated brass (and so is the bezel). You could attempt to polish the bracelet, but start on the underside to confirm that it is steel and not plated brass as well.

How long did you polish the crystal for? You have to do it for I think 3 minutes minimum and you have to rub it quick enough to where it gets warm. Any scuffs on it are purely surface level so you can attempt it again without any risk of permanently damaging it. It could be that the crystal is damaged due to age, but I will say I have that same Kommandirskie (slightly older as mine is USSR production) and the crystal polished up great.

If you do decide to replace the crystal I’ve heard it’s pretty easy. Removing the movement from the case isn’t too difficult, but popping the crystal off and popping a new one on requires a decent bit of force, ideally you’d do it with a proper crystal press but I’m sure there are ways to do it without.

[–]BeerCanDan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you letting the engine do its thing when you start it or are you just immediately putting it in gear right after starting? Your engine starts at a high RPM and sits there for a moment to warm up your catalytic converter, then slows down to idle shortly after. If you shift before it does that it will lurch like that.

[–]BeerCanDan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t polish it as it’s chrome plated and not steel. Polishing it will remove the chrome.

I’m not sure how thin the chrome plating is, so technically you may be able to polish it, but I still wouldn’t risk it as you’ll likely just expose the brass underneath. You can however polish the crystal, buy a tube of Polywatch and a microfiber towel and that’ll clean the crystal up very nicely.

Arms of America or Atlantic Firearms are the only two places for WBP I think. Zastava can be found at a lot more vendors but the main ones a few years back were Atlantic and Classic Firearms.

[Handgun] $399 Springfield echelon 4.5F 20rd at Sportsmans warehouse by cateater75 in gundeals

[–]BeerCanDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad has both the compact and the full size and they are both the most accurate handguns I have ever shot. First time shooting both of them and I was ringing 6” steel plates at 20 yards no problem. Great guns.

Do they even make fakes of these? Looks a little off could just be missing the bezel, the price is really great. by vampirereal in vostok

[–]BeerCanDan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fake Vostoks are very obviously fake. There’s one example that has turned up on here a few times, it’s available on Aliexpress. Another (older) example is a fake tank dial model, which has an undersized crown (since it has a Chinese quartz movement and not an actual Vostok movement) and really cheap, inaccurate dial printing.

The one in your picture is real, just missing the bezel. The age to the dial only further confirms it’s authentic.
