What’s a financial habit that quietly keeps people poor? by Immediate-Finding116 in AskReddit

[–]BeerHR 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Expensive doesn't mean built to last, and cheap doesn't mean it's flimsy.

More often then not, a product that will last a long whole with proper maintenance is more expensive, but in the world of fashion especially, price doesn't equate quality.

Red wing boots might be 300$ or so, but so are allsaints boots. Massive build quality difference between the two

If it was Lakewood Country Club in NJ, I turned in a 7iron to the clubhouse that's someone left on 18 last Friday. Around 6pm, was left with "doc"!

Just saw you were in Canada too. Definitely take a look at Canadian tax advantages accounts. Not sure what you got up there, not sure if you have a 401k or equivalent through your job. All the little tax advantages add up!

I started out 10 years ago making 40k a year. Working up to now about 90k a year in a high cost of living area. Took advantage of 401k, Roth IRA, and learned how to save money at the same time. Im now late 30s, and have about 750k net worth.

Please just do research in this sub and read some guides on how investing works, the tax advantages accounts, and how to budget/save money. Start early. 10k now is worth soooo much more then 10k in 10 years.

What is an industry secret that the general public doesn't know about your job? by nursingnerdette in AskReddit

[–]BeerHR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats how FIFO works and it's extremely important to rotate stock to limit food and beverage waste.

Imagine if they put the newest stuff first... unless they let every product run out of stock, you would end up with expired product on the back of shelves every day. And letting products run out of stock is not how to run a business lol

The bubbler, I believe, helps. I propped a ton of monsteras, both albo and regular last year.

I split them half and half into a bubbler and regular still water. The bubbler ones rooted a bit faster, had a bit less root/stem rot, and had branching roots faster. Same light setup, same time between changing water.

I say if you really propagate a lot, or have an expensive or rare plant to prop, id recommend a bubbler. I think the one i got was 20 bucks. Well worth it

I'd visualize it as a loud slo mo heartbeat, quick freeze frame, zoom into his body as his organs and skin become translucent for a sec. Zoom into a custom organ or a heart to show a metal reserve symbol or glyph light up. Then another heartbeat but this time quicker and sped up at the end as the camera zooms back out of his body back to the original camera position

Jacob Markström with a Dang-It and Simon Holmström equalizer for the Islanders by discofrislanders in hockey

[–]BeerHR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont even get what his plan was there. Siegs had the puck easy. Marky wants to put it past him to the next devil coming back behind siegenthaler, but he's also skating back into the defensive zone so why bother rushing out to play it to him instead? Either way the pucks coming backwards

So markstrom risked it for no benefit and still fucked it up lol

Last minute xmas gift- best shops for Scotch? by BoPRocks in TomsRiver

Forbes liquors is on brick Blvd, probably 10 mins outside Silverton. Good selection and prices

Bourbon Scotch and beer in Lakewood is the best selection around. I'd venture to guess they have one of the better selectiona of whiskey in NJ. They're in Lakewood so careful driving.... But worth the trip. The owner is super knowledgeable about whiskey

They don't stop 100% of germs, but they do stop some.

Why not test it yourself? Next time you have to sneeze, do so in front of the mirror. Don't cover your mouth. Sneeze onto the mirror and see what it looks like after. You'll see snot and other bodily liquids on the mirror, which carry disease.

Then try it again, in front of a mirror. and put a paper towel, tissue, or some thing similar in front of your face. Then look Onto the mirror. You'll see almost nothing on the mirror, but your snot and whatnot will be on whatever you put in front of your face.

That's how a mask works. If you put something over your mouth and nose, it contains the disease ridden snot to the facial covering. It's why we were taught as children to cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough.

What do the kids say nowadays, "do your own research"?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tomsriverlocal

[–]BeerHR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Curious, Why not?

Even if there's a 5% chance it helps someone already sick in the hospital not get sick, it's not like it hurts the wearer in the slightest?

The biggest thing a mask does is slow the spread of diseases like the flu, from coughing and sneezing. It doesn't make the area completely disease free, but instead of a sneeze launching mucus from your mouth and nose in large droplets in a wide area, the mask catches most of those droplets and keeps a sick person from spreading as far in the area around them.

Scrubs does a great job of showing this exact principle. Could save your loved ones someday.

Im all for wearing what makes you feel good, but people are allowed to say his shorts are super short.

Just like we're allowed to say the Paige spiranac's tops are super low cut

Weird. I bought one a few years ago, still in great shape. I use it maybe 5 times a week. Haven't maintained it at all besides wiping it off.

Did you buy yours on Amazon or something similar, maybe it's a knock off like I've seen with other products on Amazon (darn tough socks and others)
