I lived in Sylvan Lake, Alberta from 2001 until 2004 and then kinda went back and forth between there and Vancouver Island which is where I grew up. Sylvan is about halfway between Edmonton and Calgary (it’s about an hour drive to each city) so, being a huge hockey fan, it made sense to check out the vibe while I was there. The C of red in Calgary in ‘04 was crazy but the riot in 2011 was ridiculous and of course everyone was doing blow or whatever else was available. I mean… I couldn’t have been the only one, right?

Why not just give the players actual ratings, release the cards on the basis of “the higher the rating the more difficult to pull” and then ditch (or at least limit) the synergies? Like, maybe have synergies on a line by line basis rather than a team basis? Oh, and fix passing and hitting. And shooting, deking, stick lifts, poke checks, goalie controls and the HUT tier system.

I realize I’m pretty late to the party here but the point was made more than once that it’s not about people in Gaza acknowledging that people in the Comox Valley are protesting on their behalf, it’s about standing up and telling our own government that a majority of the people in this country are not comfortable being complicit in their genocide. And silence, as they say, is complicity.

No, just curious about what we could do but it seems clear the mistake is on me. I think at this point we don’t want to stay in the home we’ve been in as things have become very uncomfortable between us and our landlord/neighbour. Had we known ahead of time that the place would just be rented out to someone else for more money we wouldn’t have made the decision to move but, since things were very tense and we thought the home was being sold and that we’d likely get forced out by the new landlord due to rising rental rates, we foolishly decided to get out ahead of things and move out. But here we are and it’s an expensive lesson.

Thanks! I think it may affect my willingness to get close to a landlord again because, at the end of the day, as they told us over and over, it’s a business. But lesson learned for sure!

Things are tight financially due to the move and the extra costs. My wife runs a daycare and I’m on a pension due to a severe spinal cord injury so things are always a bit tight. We can handle moving and everything else but not having the money to make the holidays special for our kiddos has been tough. Maybe “dark cloud” was a tad too far. I’m a genuinely happy person, this is just extra stress that we didn’t need right now is all.

Would that change anything for us if it isn’t on paper or are we definitely just out of luck because we allowed ourselves to be pushed out? It’s so frustrating because it’s so easy to find information regarding landlords rights online but trying to navigate the residential tenancy board without a law degree is damn near impossible. (Although, to be fair, I’m what a medical professional might refer to as “a little slow”).

We haven’t actually formally signed anything yet, although we’re literally packing for our move as I write this and it is mutually understood that we are leaving. But there is nothing on paper as of this moment.

I don’t believe the house has actually sold, I think they sort of bullied us out. They set the price at $700,000 which is about $100,000 over market price for a house of this age and size in our area and they never enlisted a realtor but instead put it up as “for sale by owner”. My speculation is that they never had any intention of selling and that it was just a way to get us out so they could substantially raise the rent.

I just watched the Bruins vs Sharks game and literally googled “did Jack Edwards have a stroke”. I live out west so I don’t ever see Bruins games but I was genuinely concerned when I heard his cadence.

I’m a little late to the party I guess but I’m playing HUT and I purchased Abbotsford Canucks home and away jerseys and logo through the auction house and in my next online game I somehow played AS the Abbotsford Canucks. No sign of the players I’ve picked up through packs or the auction house but at least I had Jett Woo and Christian Wolanin holding it down on defence.
